Hi everyone. It's been 2 Tuesdays already, so it's time for another new challenge at Try It on Tuesday.
Before I introduce our new challenge, thank you everyone who joined our Circles challenge. And thank you very much Sarah for being our guest designer for that challenge. ❤
Our new challenge for the next 2 week is Flying High: Anything that Flies.
I made a journal that incorporates a tag I made awhile back as well as some honey bees. You might know that I am a hobby apiarist with 2 hives of honey bees so when it came to flying I decided to go with the bees.
I started with a white journal page that I lightly used some yellow watercolor paint on. Then I splattered it with some blue watercolor to match the tag that I was going to attach.
The tag was made by stamping and embossing the numbers and then adding 2 flower stickers as well as a butterfly sticker. I stamped the quote and added a couple little confetti pieces. If the tag looks familiar it's because it is not new, and I shared it over at Tag Along (and ATC's too) a while back.
Lately I've been adding older tags and ATC's to some of my journal pages just because it's a safe place to put them. Since this tag had a butterfly (which flies) and makes me think of my garden, I decided to add all the bees to finish off the page.
The die I used to make all the bees and flowers is from an old company called Die-Namites. The original die had 3 bees and 3 flowers all connected by these swirling lines. You can see I snipped and attached several die cuts together to make all the bees and flowers. I cut these from black paper and then glued them down. I then cut some more out of some mostly pink scrap paper to get the flowers. I also cut them a third time to from white paper to get the centers. It was a lot of cutting, but I like the effect. Plus I ended up with some extra bees and flowers for other art. 😏
Our Flying High challenge runs for the next 2 weeks, and I hope you're inspired to join us.

Erika. If this were a fabric to sew with I'd buy it on the spot. Just got some bee fabric recently however your add of the flowers, is WAY better than what I picked up. Love the pops of the flowers. Makes my heart smile. Happy Crafting indeed.
So pretty! Bees, flower pattern and colour combination..everything comes together seamlessly.
...bee well and happy!
Love it, Erika! The critters are just wonderful, and the colors so cheerful. I like how seamlessly integrated your tag is in your page. I find it hard to incorporate older projects in mine unless I tear them up first, lol... Hope your month has been good so far. Anita xx
This is just what we need for Summer - blue sky, sunshine , bees and butterflies. We are promised this by the weekend! Great idea to use the tag and top marks for the patience required for all that cutting!
Hubby mending well and now without leg brace. He is hoping to start driving next week! HUgs, Chrisx
This page just shouts summer to me with the buzzing bees and butterfly. A great way to incorporate and store the pretty tag too.

I absolutely love your art! To the bees! We need them. And... also thanks to you... I lost my fear a bit. I used to jump and run, driving Ingo nuts. Now I stay calm and everything is good.
To happy art, have a great ... hups, already Wednesday... hugs
Very attractive. To feature bees is entirely appropriate. All the best - David
Fun page! I hope your bees are flying high and you're enjoying this gorgeous weather!
The bees are a particularly fitting choice, both for the theme and for your own connection as a hobby apiarist. That personal link always adds a quiet depth to creative work. The layered stamping, embossing, and repeated die cutting also sounds like it created a strong sense of texture and movement on the page.
It is often the patience in those repeated small steps that gives handmade work its character. This challenge should bring in plenty of varied and imaginative entries.
Wishing you a successful round and much enjoyment from seeing what others create.
I really love your art, Erika! You have tremendous talent!
Lovely lovely lovely.
Great page incorporating the tag and featuring bees.
All the best Jan
This to me is so darn pretty. Have a nice day.
The little flowers are so cute.
That is such a lovely art! The bees and the flowers made me think of you. I think it is a great idea to add your ATCs and tags to your journal pages. A perfect way to reuse those beautiful artwork you create.

This page for me shouts, 'summer is coming' with the insects flying around . I love the way you added the tag surrounded by the flowers and bees. Great inspiration Erika.
Your bees look like they’re having the best time buzzing around the flowers! The page feel so sunny and happy--perfect for the Flying High theme.
This is great, very pretty Erika.
A really lovely page Erika , love the bees, how interesting that you are a bee keeper, I do love bees and try and encourage as many as possible into my garden, my Ceanathus bush has just flowered and has been covered in honey bees , could hear them busy buzzing all day. X
Oh my I really had to scroll to find this TIOT post, so many lovely missed art displays for me. Loving those busy Bees, I can see them figuring out that flight path to bring the pollen home..
It's a good idea to pop in those tags, I often do that when I go back to tinker with an older journal page.
I hope you are keeping well?? Hugs Tracey xx
P.S catch up with you later x
