Hi everyone. Happy first Friday in October to you. Yesterday I got my COVID and flu vaccines so I'm feeling a little bit under the weather this morning. But better a little bit under the weather for a few hours today than getting really sick for days later. 👍
Today I have some photos that I am linking up to Nicole's Friday Face off and to Gillena's Friday Lunch Break. I have a few more photos from my trip when we spent a night and then part of the next day in Belfast, Maine.
We stayed at a hotel that is right outside of town and is called the Fireside Inn. There are a few other Fireside Inns around here in New England. What I like about this particular place (and where we have stayed before) is that we had a dog friendly room which was on the ground floor with its own entrance and exit besides the usual hotel room door into a hallway. As you either know or can imagine, it's very convenient when you travel with dogs to just be able to go outside with them. Plus, as you'll see in one of my photos, this hotel has a large grassy area that goes all the way down to the ocean so it's not only great for walking the pups but also for me to be able to stretch my legs first thing in the morning.
This hotel also had this giant outdoor chess board. After I returned the dogs to the room where my husband was, I thought I'd have a little photographic play time.
I hope Nicole agrees that the horses (knights) in this game work for Face Off.
I really have been noticing shadows lately, and I like the ones made by these pieces.
Here's a few other interesting reflections I saw and photographed.
And if the knight in the chessboard doesn't work for Face Off, you can see a face below.
These locals (I'm guessing) were hanging out at the town dock. What actually caught my attention was the dog. Every time the man stopped patting her she lifted her leg and bopped him on his leg. I know exactly what he was dealing with because that's one of Miss Maddie's habits too. He was very cooperative patting her.
If you ever happen to be driving up Route One outside of Bucksport, Maine, you'll pass this beautiful structure called the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. If you look at the left pillar you'll see that it has windows, and you can take an elevator up to that area for a really lovely aerial view. We didn't stop this trip as we've done it before, but it is a very pretty area and worth the stop if you haven't done it.
That's it for me today. Next stop on our adventure is Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
Have a super start to your weekend and day ahead.

That bridge is beautiful. And I really like the sound of that dog friendly hotel.
I haven’t played chess in years. We used to have teams in high school and competitions between houses. I am sure that playing chess improved my logic skills (if in fact I have any). I will have to find out if any of my friends also played chess and whether anyone would be interested in a friendly match now and then. I might have to relearn the rules at this stage! Have a great weekend. All the best - David
Ahhhh, such a wonderful view onto the ocean! To imagine it is warm enough to take a seat and enjoy a good book!
Oh, chess. Ingo got two sets, The Simpsons and Star Trek, but... I connot play. I bought a book on it, but... nah...
I love all the patterns you found and the scene on the dock.
The bridge.. beautiful but no, never. Way too high!
Looking forward to more from your trip - have a great day, hugs
...Maine, is on my bucket list, perhaps one one! You featured so many wonderful things, the front row seats like mighty nice to me.
Oh... long time ago, I played chess. I enjoyed reading very much. Seeing the reflections and many other interesting things.
Best wishes.

I'm sorry to read you're feeling off today. Here's to soon being up and running again. My gosh those photos. The ones with the lines coming down from the top to the side, brilliant. Just brilliant.

So happy you are vaccinated and that you will feel better by now. These photos are amazing. What a beautiful place. Maine is one state that I have not ever visited. Probably too late now. Thank you for sharing these wonders with FFO and have a lovely weekend.
Looks like a beautiful area. I love the shadows you caught on the giant chess board. Enjoy the weather today!
Happy October Erika! oh your trip looks amazing and your photos are beautiful! Love the reflection photos! Stunning! Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for linking your lovely photos to AFFF

Beautiful photos and so many happy memories of Maine 😊. Glad you had fun and wishing you a happy Friday too! Hugs, Jo x
Just look at those blue skies and such tranquil scenes on the first two photos. I also had the double jab attach this week.

Your photos are all gorgeous! That scene next to the water looks like a place where I could stay for hours! Fun photos from your trip!
I'm glad you took some photo time. The images are terrific and you certainly had a wonderful day for it. That hotel sounds really terrific! Loving hearing about your trip!
I love the photo of the locals hanging out on the town dock. No need to dress up, but plenty of company, fresh air and sunshine, and dog friendly.
The chairs are in a great position for the view.
Hubby and I got our flu shop today, as well.
That's a stunning bridge. SO glad you took the trip when you did, because all the Nat'l parks are now closed. Beautiful shadows. And a great door with the refection. Have a super weekend, Erika.
Forgot to mention, that is one spectacular hotel.
What a lovely post! Belfast looks like such a charming place, and that ocean view from the hotel sounds amazing.

The first two photos are so beautiful. I just want to sit there on a sunny day and just let time do its thing. Secondly, what a gorgeous post. The Fireside Inn in Belfast, Maine, is like the perfect dog-friendly getaway, and having that ground-floor entrance right by the ocean grass? That's heaven. Yes, those giant chess pieces definitely count for a Friday Face Off. The reflection photos you captured were stunning, but the story about the local dog bopping the man's leg for more pats totally stole the show. 😂 I know that move well! Enjoy the rest of your adventure heading to Bar Harbor.
That's a great spot to stay with dogs! Ah, Bucksport--we looked at an apartment there 15 1/2 years ago, but ended up in Brunswick, Maine, instead. It's a cool bridge.
That are so Lovely photos!!!
hugs Elke
We crossed that bridge on our coast-to-coast trip many years ago, on our way to Acadia National Park. We really loved Maine - it was my idea to go to Maine and when my husband was due to start a different job within his company, we took off for six weeks between those two jobs. Maybe one day I should blog about it - it will definitely take more than six weeks, though.
Beautiful travelogue, I love reading it and I like the details.
Thank you.
I'm looking forward to more... best wishes to you.

Enjoyable to see your photographs.
All the best Jan
That Fireside Inn looks like a great place anytime! Ocean access! Nice photos as usual, xoxo
