It's October!

Hi everyone. Happy October to you. It's already month 10 of 2025. It's time for pumpkins, getting out your sweaters and to get your spooky or if you prefer, silly Halloween face on.  (Or maybe no Halloween at all, which is OK too.)

Thank you again Mia for hosting last month at Art Journal Journey. And thank you again to everyone who joined in. I liked thinking about backgrounds. I hope you did too.

This month we want to welcome Elle as your host. You probably know from her blog Empire of the Cat. Elle has chose the theme: Steampunk, Halloween or Steampunk Halloween. I bet we'll be seeing a black cat or 2 this month in Elle's art pieces.  ❤

OK, my first page didn't exactly work out as I planned. I have several old ghost dies, so I cut them all out. I wanted to make a steampunk ghost. I also die cut some men's accessories as well as a bunch of little gears.

I also started my page on a different smaller piece of paper. The only ghost I die cut that fit the men's hat and mustache was a not so scary ghost. That was ok, so I made my page. However, when I finished, he didn't look like a ghost but more like a snowman. You can still see him in the middle of this page. I cut down that page and decided I would add around him to make my page more Halloween than Christmas.

I took a page in my ledger journal and inked the background black, grey and green. The purple I added at the every end by splattering some purple watercolor paint. Then I layered the more scary ghosts around the snowman ghost. I filled in their eyes first with a black Sharpie and then with some black glitter glue. I also added more gears. I also cut a few crows out of some clear crow tape that I have, as well as adding  a few ALL &Create bottles. Finally I stamped the quote (from a Picket Fence set) that says "Just a Wee Bit Wicked." I thought it not only fit but had a nice Scottish feel since Elle is from Scotland.

And unfortunately I must mention the rules. At Art Journal Journey we accept ONLY art journaling pages. They can be any kind of art journal pages, but please NO CARDS, TAGS, ATCs, etc. Well you can link up something other than a journal page BUT ONLY if you attach it to a journal page. I also must remind you that not all the administrators are on every type of social media platform (or not on social media at all), so if you link up from social media we may not be able to comment on your entry.

I've been playing around with some Halloween and steampunk Halloween art, and I can't wait to see what everyone else creates, Hoe to see you over at Elle's AJJ challenge.

Wonderful first entry. I love how you used both gears and ghosts/ Very steampunk ghosts. Those eyes are a bit creepy, which is also good for Halloween. Love this journal page that is great for eotc's theme at AJJ.

Clever use of Steampunk and Halloween but I must admit I too see a snowman in the centre of your page. I am sure there are all kinds of spooky folks out there and no doubt spooky snowmen. So your fella is fine.
As for the other ghosts, they waft about the page as I would imagine they do. And i see there are ravens settling in on your page too.
Some great hardware too in the form of cogs and wheels.
A super introduction to. the month and Elle's fabulous theme.
Hugs, Neet xx

I love the gears on this page. And the bottles of potions may have just given me the answer to a project I've been thinking about.

Love your spooky page with the floating ghosts. I won’t mention the snowman 😂 A great background as well. Hugs Wendy. Have a great month.

I love your fun ghost page and your idea of making them steampunk ones is fabulous! The background works perfectly for them to zoom around! This will be a fun challenge!

LOL I'm actually making sense of it, like the steampunk snowman was rattled at the passing flock of ghosts. He does have kind of a surprised look. I'm just impressed you have so many ghost dies! xox

Hey Erika! I absolutely adore your first entry for Elle’s AJJ theme this month! Your not so scary ghost looks fantastic with his Steampunk hat!! And I love how you added the gears and scary ghosts around him. Your 'Wicked' title is perfect, too. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention your background, which looks totally incredible. And thank you SO MUCH for stopping by my blog, too. Hugs, Sharon

Hi Erika, this is a fantastic steampunk/Halloween mash-up. I love those ghost shapes, really interesting and unusual shapes. Yes I do see a snowman in the middle but why not? He could be a ghost of a snowman! Thanks for joining in with my theme this month, Elle x
