Look Back Part 3- The Finale

Hi everyone. Can you believe it is the very last day of 2017? Tomorrow we start a new year with lots of new adventures. And today, I'll spend some time thinking about the year that was and what I might like to happen in the year that will be. Am I the only one who does that?
So one more day of art look back for me, and then it is time to look into the future. I like looking back though, because I see pieces that inspire me to create more art.
And once again, be aware this is a long post.
I was REALLY good and managed to do a page every day since April 1 when I started my drawing journal.  No, I didn't draw every day, but I did usually get a few quick sketches, often with my Faber-Castell art markers.
And  I figured out a lot about  borders too, along with lettering and some shading.

I am doing it again in 2018, and let's see what more I learn.

And I also worked on an ocean journal, which I did finish.

And in August I created a collage journal with lots of travel bits I brought back from NY State which I had visited for a couple of days.

And finally, here are some other random assorted art journal pages.
Can you tell I am not good at picking just a few?

And there were so many more pieces of art. But I do feel like I accomplished something. :)
Thanks for all of you who stop by my blog and a hug to those of you who leave comments! I wish you all the best in 2018 and I hope your dreams (or at least some of them) do come true in the new year.

Look Back #2

So today I have been binge watching Victoria (starring Jenna Coleman) until the hubby came home from work and I could tell he wasn't into it. Now we are watching Wonder Woman, which we saw in the theater and is REALLY a good girl power film. So as I watch I am going to post some more my favorite art for 2017.
Let's start with a few tags.

I like to occasionally play with some steampunk themes.
 And textures.
 Or stamped textures.

And some birds.

An owl from my night journal.
A funny turkey for Thanksgiving in drawing journal.
 Ghostly crows for Halloween.
Never mind the carrots, but I am happy with my first attempt to draw and paint macaws.
And this phoebe in my drawing journal.
And my Halloween tree with these cool coaster tags I made to decorate it.
And I will wrap up today's views with a few more of my favorite pages from my Night Sky Journal, which is not finished yet.

Hope you enjoyed  this installment of my look back. One more day to show you. Man I made a lot of art this past year!
Happy weekend!

Look Back No. 1

Happy Friday/ weekend everyone. The year is quickly winding down, isn't it? My vacation is going WAY too fast also, but with this bitter cold, it doesn't motivate you to really want to do much where you have to leave the house.

That's OK. I have become a TV addict and I am doing some small cleaning projects (really small, like vacuuming the floor, not even cleaning out a closet or picking up the studio space). I am reading by the woodstove and making a little art. That makes me happy. I even had a fun art day with a friend yesterday, which I will show you as soon as I get the photos off my phone.

Last night while watching TV  I went through my whole year of blog posts and picked out some of my favorite pieces of art. There are some that now I look at and go eek! What did I make? But they can be reworked in the future if I ever get so inclined.

Thought I will share some of those favorite pieces with you today. They are in no special order.
Are you ready?  It's a long post.
I really love these 2 pages with our dogs.  I didn't know I could be so philosophical.  :)
And also from last January, these 2 pages.
I love the background and how I managed to get nice depth to my numbers.
And my first page when I hosted Art Journal Journey last year.
And next are pages from my travel journal that I made after going to Taos, New Mexico to visit friends last February. I love the colors and effects and how it really feels (to me) like New Mexico.I couldn't pick out a single page to show you, so I got a bit carried away here.

I even like how my cover came out.
And my favorite flower journal pages.

And veggies that inspired some new hand painted kitchen curtains.

And lastly for today, these 3 journal pages that make me feel warm since it is very cold as I write this.

I hope you weren't too bored looking back at some of my favorites. I have another post of look backs which I will save for another day.
Hope you are having (or had) a great day. And thanks for much for visiting.
