Home Again

Hi everybody.
I returned home from my New Mexico journey Friday evening (March 3)  to some really cold and windy weather. Today (Saturday the 4th) it got no warmer than 15 degrees  (around -10 Celsius) and tonight it is even colder. The wind is howling loudly. I thought it was March, not January. :(
I think I am the bearer of this cold weather.
Last week in New Mexico we had some snowy weather one day, and since it feels so much like winter tonight, I thought I would share some snowy photos I took with you.
OK it was 8 AM and my friend's husband Bob left for the ski mountain, so Vicky (whom I was visiting) and I decided to take  little walk in the snow. The silly part is that we went walking in our pj's. Of course we had on our coats, hats, scarves and our boots.
The clouds and flying snow made a weird and kind of eerie landscape. The mountains disappeared and everything looked different. I felt like I was far away and in a different place from where I was.
At home when it snows the clouds don't create this kind of magic.

Emma the dog came with us too.

And then in the clouds we could hear something twittering and suddenly a flock of birds appeared.

It was thrilling to watch their form morphing its shape as they moved across the horizon.
I'd never been at my friend's home when the snow flew like this, so it was an exciting event.
And even better that by the next day beautiful weather had returned. The sun warmed the air and the couple inches of fresh snow melted. They got about 29  (about 74 cm) inches of new snow up at the ski area. I'm not a skier, but Bob said it was one of his best days of skiing ever.
I'll take the sun and beautiful weather any day.
But one more snowy photo first.
Hope your weekend is warm sunny and spring like. And send some of that better weather my way too.
OK?

I'm just glad you made it home safe and sound. I can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the weekend before heading back to school on Monday.

Thanks for sharing these photos from New Mexico.

What a beautiful place to visit, such lovely views and their adobe style house is amazing! It must have been so magical walking in the snow and so much fun venturing out in your PJ's (grin!). Glad your home safely and had such a wonderful time with your friend! Happy Sunday! J :-)

Lots of lovely snow scenes, I'll just go and make a nice cup of hot tea now! How amusing that you went walking in your pjs. Yes, snow can make a landscape into a land quite mysterious. We always love to see flocks of birds like this, I don't think anyone has yet worked it out how they manage to keep together in a flock, swirling and turning.

What a gorgeous home! And the scenery isn't too shabby either. I look forward to living out west next year.

2 years ago today we had snow here. Today we have rain and a high predicted in the upper 50s. I've already moved some of my plants out to the patio. It's hard to figure out what the weather will do next!

Because it was so cold this weekend, I'm not too anxious to look at cold weather photos. (-; The picture of the pinecone is so pretty. Wouldn't that make a spectacular Christmas or Winter greeting card? Looks like you had a wonderful time on vacation, but I bet it was good to be back home.

That photo of the window with the snow on the edge is exquisite. I hope you enlarge and frame that one -- it's fabulous!
