Girl From The Tropics

 Hi everyone. Happy Friday.

It's the first full day of fall, and the season's chill has arrived in my area. They say our temperatures won't get out of the low 50's today (about 10.5 degrees C). Brr. It's going to feel chilly.

Today I have a page for Nicole's Friday Face Off as well as for Neet's Fur and/or Feather challenge at Art Journal Journey. I thought on this chilly Friday something with the idea of warmth would be nice.

After rubbing my  journal page with some ochre-colored ink, I layered some blue printed tissue paper  as well as a part of a gelli print made on some brown kraft paper. The girl is from an image I tried to do a gel plate transfer with. The transfer didn't work, but I do like the painted effect of the image.

This lady image has some tropical blossoms to the left, so I went with that and decided to add some flamingo printed washi tape. I liked the idea that  she lives in a warm tropical place  with beaches and exotic birds and plants.  I also added a bit of red mesh and a few small feathers to represent those tropical birds. I finished off my page  with a sun image stamped on acetate, some dotted washi tape and a stamped quote.

I am also linking up my page to Gillena's Friday's Art Lunch Break.

That's all for me today. Have a great end of the work week as well as a great start to the weekend.

It may be cold where you are Erika, but the picture suggests hot hot hot. I love how you have done the lady in red and added the pink flamingos across the base of your page. At first I thought your feathers were a butterfly and was ready to comment about his furry body but now I see it is a small group of feathers. I wonder if anyone else can see a butterfly?
Thanks for joining us again at AJJ with this lovely journal page.
Have a wonderful weekend
Hugs, Neet xx
ps it is actually quite sunny and warm here - makes a nice change

I envy the girl on your page. She doesn't have to wear socks, sweatpants, or a sweatshirt today. Brrrr. Even the kitties don't want to go out to the sunroom.

For me, your transfer worked pretty well. I have difficulties with them and they seldom turn out the way I envision them. This is a great page, Erika. I really like the flamingo washi tape.

Hasn't the week flown by!
I do like this time of year; Autumn is one of my favourite seasons.
I do like your journal page 'the girl from the topics'.
Have a good weekend.

All the best Jan

To flamingos and warmth! She came out fancy and beautiful!
We were lucky yesterday - only a jumper necessary - sadly too much sun for a pic of little Niece with my polaroid even.

Hi Erika! Your art journal page is absolutely beautiful. (It's cold where I live, too - I'm ready for fall, but think that some late hot summer days are probably in store for us!) I love the image of the girl and how she is distressed and in red. What a gorgeous focal point for your gorgeous creation! And thanks so very much for visiting my blog - your comments really touched me. Have a wonderful fall!!! Hugs, Sharon

We had a nippy first day, too-- but a pretty one. So far today is looking gloomy. Or maybe I'm just up earlier.

I am amazed at the multimedia images you and others come up with, Erica. I can't even imagine something like this, let alone do it. It's lovely and warm here in Colorado, but I always enjoy tropical places and being reminded of them. Have a great week!

Autumn has arrived here too, the evenings are chilly!

Clever that you arrived at such beauty out of something that didn't work ... Good for you!

It'll be interesting to see the difference that climate change has on seasonal norms over time. Happy Fall!

I'm glad Im not the only person who couldn't get a gel transfer to work. I like the hot color you got, though. It may be cold there, but I will gladly give you my heat. This speaks volumes of heat and color that is perfect for Neet's theme at Art Journal Journey.

I tried the gelli print once but did not get any good result. But, of course I just did not have any proper material to work with. I too like the painted effect you created here. :)
