Friday

Hi everyone. This week is winding down, and it's time to join Nicole at Friday Face Off and Gillena at her Friday Lunch Break. I also want to share some of the rest  of my Hot August (Days and Nights) pieces. I'll be linking these up to Chris' challenge at Art Journal Journey too.

My 2 art pieces both have faces. You'll have to ignore the glare on the first one. I love using acetate on a page as it adds some cool texture, but it never photographs very well. This acetate quote you can't read well says "come one come all".

Let me finish off this post by sharing some more garden photos from the past week. My dahlia's are blooming, and they are huge. I bet each flower is close to 6 inches/ 15 cms in size. They are as big on the plant as my face flowers in my last art piece.

And they are so heavy the plant stems are flopping over.

It is definitely tomato season right now.

I planted a new garden bag with some cucumber seeds. I'm going to see if I can grow them in the greenhouse and maybe get some cukes later in the fall. Not sure if it will work or not, but it's fun to experiment.

I have lots of sunflower buds, but no actual blooms yet.

You can see that some of those sunflowers are taller than the greenhouse.

My leaf-eaten brussel sprouts  are getting new leaves in the center of their crowns,

and the sprouts are really going too.

I'm going to try moving these plants into the greenhouse in a few weeks also. I want to see if I can get some good sized sprouts before they need to be picked, which is usually around November.

Wishing everyone a great Friday and start to your weekend.

Must be the year of the dahlia in the northern part of the continent. Around here they are spectacular, too. Lovely to see. All the best - David

I really like the flower faces on your art journal, Erika! Such bright colors too, they brought a smile to my face! But your dahlias brought an even bigger smile. 😊 They're so pretty!! Hope you have fun with your greenhouse experiments and enjoy the results! Have a wonderful weekend. Anita xx

Beautiful dahlias, they haven't bloomed here yet! I really liked the first card with the moon face and the amazing texture.

Cool art! I am particularly drawn to the moon and stars one. Somehow the carnival and the moon give me a late summer feeling--the nights starting a little bit earlier than they did, but there's still a little bit of summer fun to be had before school starts again.

I love the garden photos. Your dahlias are indeed spectacular and I always enjoy looking at people's harvests. I hope you have the fall cuke harvest--experimenting is good. Let us know the results.

Lovely sunny artwork and the garden's looking good and productive, tomatoes still coming thick and fast here, freezer space getting limited.

Great artworks!! And thank you for the memory! I had a "Professor", she was an architect from Hamburg, helped me out very big and used acetate a lot! Her name was Heidrun.
I got fresh veggies and fruit yesterday, post to come.
From a shed... your garden is great!!! Have a wonderful weekend, hugs!

Erika, I so love your pages with the faces! The most interesting to me is the moon over the carnival scene! The shinny moon and stars happily lighting up what they can. The flower faces look like they're seeing summer end and what to give it their best shot to shine! LOL Love the background on that one too! Your garden looks amazing! We're ended the last of our tomatoes now.

I like the flowers with the faces, they look so happy.
Your garden looks great! You definitely have a very good tomato harvest. I've made quite a bit of tomato sauce to keep the wonderful tomato taste in the winter. I like experimenting in the garden, too - it's all trial and error (more error on my side, but that's okay, too).

Beautiful dahlias. I've only ever grown them once, they flowered one day then the frost killed them the same night so I've never grown them since.

Both entries for Chris's theme at AJJ are great. My favorite is the flowers with faces. Thanks for sharing both entries.

I've never seen a dahlia except in photos. Yours are stunning. Carrots are a great fall crop, too. I've read they are actually sweeter when harvested in the fall than in spring.
