Weekend Post

Hi everyone. I hope you're having a nice weekend.  We're having a slight warm up which feels good after a few cool and very windy days last week. 😏 Plus my daughter  and her husband have been in and out of the house over this weekend. A good friend of theirs got married yesterday near our house, and they stayed with us.

Since it's Sunday I'm also linking a up to Gillena's Sunday Smiles.

Today I have a page for Elle's Steampunk, Halloween or Halloween Steampunk challenge over at Art Journal Journey. Today's page is a mix of some Halloween images and then this steampunk heart-key image I had in my stash.

I used some Halloween paper for my background and then I inked it to make it scarier. I added a clear vinyl image on  the left side.

I then glued down the heart (a Stamperia chipboard image), and added some sparkly bat stickers. I was very excited to find this sheet of bat stickers in with some non-Halloween paper. Better yet I noticed that the package had been marked down to 49 cents. I guess whenever I picked them up ( it might have been 2 or 3 years ago) they were accidentally put away in the wrong spot, but I finally found them just in time for Halloween. And I was happy to see I had gotten a good bargain on the stickers too. 😏

I finished my piece by adding the TH quote.

The other morning I took a detour on my way to run some errands. I drove up to the high point in my town  which is referred to as the ridge. There's one area on the road up to the ridge that has a gorgeous view of the mountains looking north-east.  So many people pull off to check out this view that the town even paved a small  extra edge on the road for them to pull over onto.

You can see the leaf color is just so-so this year, at least so far.  And here's the view as I slightly shifted to the left. You can see a little more color in that direction.

Just beyond the viewing pull off there is a small family farm and these peaceful looking cattle were right along the roadside.  They were as interested in me as I was in them.

It's a nice fantasy to think about living on a little farmstead, but I think the fantasy is ( for me) better than the reality would be.

That's all for me today. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and start to the new week ahead.

Cows are such inquisitive creatures, lovely rural photos, Autumn in looking beautiful in your parts as it is here, we're lacking in sunshine this week though.

You've captured a very eerie punky feel to your journal page.

That sure is a key to sweet creep! I love bats. Great artwork - oh and Mother Nature sure is one, too, great shots!
And... hi girls! Oh, I miss seeing animals for real! Hugs and thank you! Have a great Sunday!

That's a very cool Halloween page. It'd be excellent as a framed piece to add to the Halloween decor each year!
That is a beautiful view there on the ridge. Maybe the cows were hoping you had a snack for them ;-) Happy Sunday!

It’s easy to understand why people would pause a while to take in that magnificent view. I know I would not pass it by without a moment to reflect on the beauty of it all. The cows look contented as cows always do. Thankfully, they don’t know that they are being raised for the sole purpose of being hamburger on somebody’s bun. Have a great Sunday. All the best - David

Your Halloween page is eerily amazing. I've never been to New Hampshire, so I loved all your gorgeous pictures with the autumn colors, something we don't see much of in SW Texas. Thanks for visiting my blog and for your kind words.

The Halloween page is fantastic, it's great what you did! What a long country road you're driving along, with the wonderful autumn colors in the area. The view into the distance and of the cows is beautiful, wonderful dreams of the farm—oh yes, I often have that in my head too.Beautiful sunday!Hugs Elke

I hope you've had a wonderful Sunday ... it's been raining most of the day in my part of the UK.

I do like your Halloween page and did enjoy scrolling through the photographs you've shared.

Wishing you a good week ahead.

All the best Jan

Good to see some steampunk art, not seen any for what seems like ages, always runs well with the Halloween theme.
What an amazing view I can see why people stop to take it all in.
I agree about the thought of farming, being self sufficient on a small holding sounds so romantic but my SIL & her hubby have an Aberdeen Angus farm with a few other herds and it is by no means as romantic as it appears.. Lol Hugs Tracey xx

No matter what season, riding through the mountain area offers exquisite views. The steampunk key is very cool. I hope you enjoyed the weather today.

Love that your photo picked up the bat sparkle! It must have been kismet that you found them. Gorgeous views from your ridge. The telephone poles look sort of quaint now, lol. My fantasy is to live somewhere hilly! heehee Hope you have a good weather week, xoxo

Erika, your photos from your detour are absolutely stunning! Those cows are incredible - our family is huge fans of cows! (We have a farm nearby, and they always come running to the fence to greet our dog, Abbey, when we walk by.) The view is breathtaking with the trees starting to change color. Thanks so much for sharing these photos! I also love your art journal page. Everything about it is amazing! The steampunk key image, the bat background paper, and the sparkly bats (49 cents is a steal!) are all so well done, and the sentiment is perfect. I hope the rest of your October is wonderful. Hugs, Sharon
