Second on the Second Plus...

Hi everyone. Happy weekend to you. I hope yours is going well. Yesterday we had a family celebration because last week was both my husband's and my daughter's birthdays. This year we went out to my daughter's home which is a couple of hours west of us  to celebrate. It was a lot of fun, and nice to have a little change of scenery. (And so if I didn't get to your blog yesterday, that's why?)

Today is November 2, which  means it's time for Second on the Second over at Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's blog. All you have to do is share a post you've already published in the past so people can have a second look. I'm also linking up to Gillena's Sunday Smiles.

I am going to share a view of a journal page I made and published on November 25, 2021. November means it's Thanksgiving month here in the US, turkey time. It's one of my favorite holidays. Plus since yesterday I was out celebrating those family birthdays, today I need to take down my few Halloween decorations and put out a few turkeys. 🦃🦃🦃

Those of you who stop by frequently know that some of the wild turkeys who live in my area have been visiting my yard quite a bit lately.

Neither my husband nor I hunt so we won't be eating any of those turkeys for Thanksgiving. 😏

The dogs and I have been out walking quite a bit lately. With the colors that finally came out why would we want to miss it?

My mother-in-law's house is about 30 minutes away, so I've been driving up there a couple of times a week. It's a nice place to walk because the house is on a long private road so there is hardly any traffic nor the crowds you get on a public trail. Right now most people have all closed up their cottages and left for the season too. There some year round folks on the road, but their homes are down closer to the lake than the woods so it's like they aren't even there.

I took this last photo the same  day as I took the others. The clouds came in, and it looks almost menacing. I can't believe it's during the same walk.

That's all for me today. I hope you have a great rest of your weekend and week ahead.

Beautiful colours at this time of the year and Mr. Pete and Maddie are loving the walk, I bet! Did you scatter food in your backyard or what? How come so many wild turkeys there? It's just fascinating!

I think it’s really quite special that the turkeys come to visit on a regular basis. Maybe when the cold snowy days of winter shut off access to some of their natural food you will strew a little cracked corn for them. It’s quite inexpensive and would ensure that the turkey parade continues. And you’ll be able to enliven our lives, too, with many more pictures. Happy Sunday. All the best - David

When you "color up," you do it gorgeously! Those trees are fantastic! And I love that the turkeys come. We sometimes see them in our neighborhood but they have no "regular stop." I love it that you are so close to your MIL's spot that you can drive there for a longer, peaceful walk and be near the water, too. It's probably nice that you can also check to be sure things are OK given that most of the neighborhood has closed up for the season.

I normally love our evergreen trees, but then I see photos of yours in autumn. The red and yellow leaves are spectacular.

I'm quite sure the turkeys know you don't hunt, that's why they come to you... it's truly an amazing number.
You've shown lovely photos of your walks in the autumn woods by the lake. Yes, that's exactly it, you have to enjoy it now.
All the best to your daughter and husband for their birthdays.
Hugs, Viola

You have a large herd of turkeys! They are in my area, but I haven't seen them lately. Such a nice place to walk. I bet the dogs love it. Cold today, but not windy. Stay warm

That journal page is fabulous--both the artwork and the quote--and it's something I'd hang up every year at this time. Well done!
Your walk was beautiful. It's so nice to have such gorgeous scenery to walk in and little/no traffic.
I'm so glad you had a fun time at the family birthday celebration!

Was für ein schöner Spaziergang. Die bunten Blätter sind immer wieder großartig.
Ich bin erstaunt über die vielen Truthähne, die offenbar wild leben. Ich finde es super, dass sie weiter leben dürfen.

Your fall colors are amazing! That tree-covered trail makes me think of grouse hunting. Do you have any grouse there?
