Friday Faces-Fun Sculptures

Hi  everyone.  Happy Friday. Another week has flown by, and here in the US it’s the start to a long weekend. Memorial Day is a day to honor fallen soldiers, and often is a time to visit cemeteries to visit loved ones that have passed, even if they were not fallen soldiers. And unofficially, it is the start to the summer season.

Sounds like the weather in my area will be cool and even a bit wet but definitely not feeling like summer.

Today I will be joining Nicole for Friday Face Off  with some  faces. I will also be joining Gillena for her Friday Lunch Break.

Last week my local botanical garden (Bedrock Gardens) opened for the season. I always get a season pass, not only to help support them, but also so I can visit as much as I'd like between May and October. The other interesting thing is that they are part of the American Horticulture Society. If a garden belongs then you can visit any other member garden for free with your membership. When we visited Magnolia Gardens in South Carolina last month both my husband and I were able to get in for free, and just that entrance fee would have cost more than my membership to my local garden. I love that I'm already ahead of the game. 😏 But not as much as I love visiting my local garden. 👍

One of the original founders of these gardens is  a woman named Jill Nooney. She is also an artist who makes some fun sculptures with found materials. She sees things in those bits and pieces I certainly don't. She has many of her pieces displayed  at the gardens.

These first 2 are some new sculptures in the garden.

There were also a few sculptures at the little shop area at the entrance to the gardens. Here's a few of the choices you could buy if you had a little extra cash.

I really like this next one. (And it's probably how I looked when the bear visited my yard last week at 3 AM.)

Too bad her sculptures, although not ridiculously expensive, were just a bit pricey from my present budget.  😏 Wishing everyone a wonderful Friday and start to your weekend.

Those are fantastic! I love every one of them, but the couple on the bench is probably my favorite, although it's hard to choose.

I find these are interesting rather than appealing, Erika. I don’t think I could have been tempted to part with my money. All the best - David

Those are very fun sculptures. Hopefully, our weather will get and stay warmer and it won't rain every weekend during the Summer.

Thanks, Erika, for noting the true meaning of Memorial Day, which sadly is often overlooked. We have been to Bedrock Gardens and after seeing these new sculptures, a return visit may be in order this year. Enjoy the holiday weekend. There’s a full slate of activates scheduled for downtown Nashua.

Botanical gardens visits are wondrous places to meditate and be inspired. Jill Nooney's sculptures are fascinating. Peace, my friend!

It is wonderful to visit gardens—I love it.
And it is fascinating to see the materials the artist uses to design and craft her sculptures... it is truly a pleasure to take a closer look at them.
Warm regards to you, and have a wonderful long weekend!

It's amazing what this artist created with found material. I certainly would imagine something like this with much of the material she used. I really like some of them - she certainly is a very creative person. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Hugs - Carola

That's very nice that you have a pass to the Bedrock Gardens. We don't have anything like that around here. I do love this type of art. There is an older man in town here that creates this style of art. Even though I couldn't purchase Jill's art either I don't think her prices are out of range. Memorial Day IS to honor all fallen soldiers. I think a lot of people forget that. Thank you so much for joining FFO and have a lovely weekend.

Those new sculptures are really something Erika. I love them and nice to admire them from afar as they are way out of my price range. It's so nice we can still get to enjoy them though. I also love going to our botanical gardens, and new ones if we are out of the area. I hope you have a very nice Memorial Day weekend. Always a very poignant time to remember our Fallen.

Those are fun sculptures but I don't think I'd pay that sort of money to have that in my garden (if I had a garden).
But it's great that you have a season ticket to the gardens, which is also a good excuse to visit other horticultural Society gardens.
Thank you for explaining Memorial Day. I hope it heralds summer for you.
Have a lovely weekend,
Lisca

Those sculptures are wonderful, Erika!
Each one has its own charm, but I think the couple on the bench really stands out to me.
Still, it’s tough to pick a favorite when they’re all so imaginative.

Great faces! Long weekend here, too (Pentecost) and summer arrived! Wonderful with medical warming cream and corset (back pain).
Hope you still can enjoy yours despite the cold, hugs!

This is a fun post. I love seeing junk put together to make such interesting art. I hope your weekend is nice-even though the weather isn't the greatest.

I'm in LOVE with the sculptures, both in the garden and the ones that are for sale. She has quite a good imagination when it comes to finding just the right items for her art. Thanks for sharing. I agree that the price is a bit too steep for my budget, but well worth it to those who have the money to burn.
