It's the Weekend

   Hi everyone. Happy weekend. This past week was crazy and not the most productive blogging week since I was in court for a few days. No, I didn't do anything wrong, but if you hadn't read  my T day post, I was selected to show up for jury duty selection on Monday. That took most of the day, and it was a lot of sitting around. I did get selected for 1 trial, which happened at the end of the week. Of the 2 trials this judge was seating people for, it was the shorter one, and so I'm glad I was picked for that one and not the longer trial. Plus now I have done my duty, and I am done with jury duty (at least for the County Court) for the next 3 years and maybe never again.  😏

  I've never been called for jury duty before, and it was an interesting experience. Some of you asked what that entailed. I received a summons in the mail telling me I had to report at my country courthouse for jury selection. The 150 or so people called were then split into 2 groups. I'm guessing the other group had a similar experience, but it would be in a different courtroom with a different judge.

   Basically our names were put in a hat and pulled after the judge told us a bit about the case. If there were any conflicts and your name was pulled, you could approach the judge as well as the lawyers for both sides and explain why you couldn't be on the case.  If you didn't have any conflicts, or if your explanation wasn't accepted, then you were seated on the jury of 14 people. (At the end of the case 2 of these 14 were people were randomly selected as alternates and did not deliberate once the trail ended.)

   This was repeated for the second case my judge was sitting a jury for. I was put on the first case, which was a shorter one. Luckily they were able to fill the jury for the second longer case from the people who didn't get picked for the first case. And since my case was scheduled only for the past Thursday and Friday, I am now done.  I'm also glad it only really involved 1 week out of the month and not the whole month. 👍 I feel for those of you who may have had longer jury duty times.

   I also want to apologize if I didn't get around to your blog  for the last few days or if it took me several days to get around to it.

  I call this piece A Giant Among Men, and it is an art journal page for Matilde's Houses and Buildings challenge at Art Journal Journey.

   The background on this page is actually from some craft supply packaging that I attached to a blank page in my journal. I added the TH gentleman, some fussy cut flowers, leaves and butterflies, and then  by stamping this quote on paper and adding it to my page. I finished by adding a scrap of die cut lace that was sitting on my work table.

   And speaking of houses and buildings, this past Sunday my husband and I met my daughter and son-in-law in Boston. We played tourists for the day. We spent a bit of the morning in the North End, and then we took a ferry ride out to one of the islands in Boston Harbor. From the ferry and  from the island (George's Island) we visited, we had great views of all the skyscrapers and buildings. Here's a few photos I took.

    As we stood in line waiting for the ferry to go back to the city, the sky darkened and you could see the rain falling  over downtown Boston. It didn't take long before it hit us, and by the time we boarded the ferry we were pretty wet. 😟 It wasn't fun at the time, but it does make a good story.

   We dried off on the ferry, but there was another shower as the ferry came into port. My husband and I had driven in and parked in Post Office Square (a great deal for Boston since weekend parking was just $10 for the day), and although it wasn't a huge walk back to the car, it was definitely long enough where we got wet all over again. 🌧 🤣

   Of course we dried off on the way home, and we had a great day. I took lots of photos so I will share more another time. Have a super Saturday.
