Happy Tuesday my friends. It's a busy Tuesday here. Every Tuesday is T Day where we share our drink related posts but it is also October 2, so it is also time to share a second look at Second on the Second.
For my second view I am going back to October of 2017.
Since our leaves are just starting to turn, this is the now.
Since our leaves are just starting to turn, this is the now.
And for T, we'll visit the then. Then is many years ago and then is also the summer that has come and gone.
I thought I would share a few photos from the second small museum that my husband and I visited a little over a week ago on Smithsonian Free Museum Day. My husband LOVES boats. Not only does he own a few assorted ones, but he's taken me to boat shows and boat watching. So it was no surprise that his museum pick was the New Hampshire Boat Museum.
The museum is quite small and is in an old summer theater at one of those lake resorts that were popular from the 1930s until the 1960's. The name of the old resort was the Allen A.
The front of the building has this fantastic vintage painting. The building has an arching roof and a large overhang which is probably what has protected this painting from the weather.
And inside are some beautiful old wooden boats. Just a few as the building isn't that big.
But it you want to go fishing in vintage style, then this boat may be for you.
My husband tells me if he ever gets room, he is going to start collecting old outboard motors. He finds them really interesting. I can't explain it.
I've never seen a motor like this one. Even with all the boat viewing we have done.
But let's get to have T, shall we?
It may be a little chilly for picnic (or wet in the case of my weather), but I have packed a blanket just in case you want to wrap yourself in it. Or use it as an umbrella to stay dry for a little bit.
I've packed the picnic basket and supplied us with some bottles of soda. (Also known as pop and tonic).
When I was a kid my Dad had one of these metal Starcraft boats. His didn't have all the wood trim as it wasn't as old as this one, and his was smaller than this one. He used his boat to go fishing. He was all about fishing but not so much about boats like my husband is.
And so I will end our picnic by motoring off into the sunset. This painting is the stage background in the theater building that houses the museum.
Hope everyone has a great T day. And thanks so much for stopping by to visit.
