A Visit to the Garden Center

   Hi everyone. Happy Friday to you. It is almost the weekend.  And it is now officially spring, no matter whether you look at it astrologically or meteorologically. 💮☔🪺

  Today I am joining Nicole for her Friday Face Off and also Gillena for her Friday Lunch Break.   My post today is about a visit to a huge garden center that's in my area and that also stays open year round. Since they are located only a couple of miles away from where I dropped my sewing machine off for a cleaning, I didn't need much arm twisting to go by for (depending how you look at it) a very late winter or very early spring visit. 😉

    This place just makes me happy. Besides all the plants, they sell planting pots galore. The way they arrange them by color really appeals to my artistic sense.

    I have a couple of these small blue owl pots, and I'm thinking about getting a couple of the large ones. I have some dahlia bulbs that for the past couple of years I've planted in those cloth planting bags. The bags work great, but they aren't the prettiest. This year it's time to get a couple of big pots for them. I'm not certain what I want, but these owls are definitely on my list.

   And if you wonder why my dahlia's go into pots, it's because when I have to dig up the bulbs  in the fall I can find them easily. 😉

    This is one of the biggest ferns I have ever seen. I'm not sure if you can make out the height from the bar where it is hanging down to those people, but those fronds are several feet or well over a meter long.

My husband was with me, and he pointed out this water function to me. It is really cool.

   I know not everyone likes to garden, but can you tell that I'm ready for garden season  to begin? Big grin.

More from Bedrock Gardens (Post 2)

 Hi everyone.

Today I am going to share more photos from my trip this week to Bedrock Gardens in Lee, New Hampshire.  I showed you a few this past Thursday, but I took over 200. I will spare you that many-smile.

I don't even know what some of these flowers are, but it was fun to find them and to take photos of them.

My azalea's haven't bloomed yet, but the ones at the gardens were beautiful.

And then, as you walk through the garden paths, you come across something just as beautiful but different from the flowers. 

These flowers in the next photo are actually part of a rusty old bench sitting under some trees. 

Hopefully we'll make it back when the rhododendron buds (you can see in this next photo) bloom.

I love discovering tiny Japanese maple flowers too as you can see in the above photo. These would be easy to miss.

As well as these funky leaves.

All of these flowers were found in a pretty wooded area.

And here's some art close up photos. Whoever makes a lot of the art displayed throughout the gardens creates some  interesting results from rusty recycled pieces.

For the rest of these photos, we are moving out of the woods.

And for these last photos for today, I had to include the beehives.

My lone single hive is going to be boring compared to these.

Bedrock Gardens, Part 1

 Happy Friday everyone. Another week is winding down. Our temperature here in New Hampshire is supposed to drop a bit so this might be the first weekend since June there will be no boating  in my house. I don't think the on the water season is over, but  it is a sure sign that summer days are waning. 

First today I have a tag for Valerie's Down on the Farm challenge at Tag Tuesday.

I sat down Wednesday evening and played with some farm animal stamps. It was a lot of fun. I particulary like this cow stamp by Paperartsy. I stamped the cow and then painted the sky. I made the grass with some paint and also colored pencils. Then I had some left over pink paper dots on my work table so I added them to my tag.

This past Wednesday I went to visit an old dairy farm that had been turned into a gorgeous and amazing garden. I met my also newly retired work friend Jo. Bedrock Gardens is 32 acres in size so we had plenty of space to socially distance from other people there. And with each other too.

Jo and I like to take pictures so we took our cameras. I ended up with over 500 photos. Some are repeats or not so good, and I haven't gone through them all yet.   I thought today I would share some overall views of the gardens with you.

There was a good size pond you could walk around. I am standing on one side and looking across. The whole gardens has a slightly Japanese feel, but not strictly. There was a lot of native plants as well as some unusual plants for this area. And lots of plants I didn't know what they were.

There was also some cool art made from recycled farm and garden equipment also. (More of that another day also.)

And lastly for today, a view of the teahouse in the pines.

Flowers

Happy Friday!  Hope everyone has had a good week so far. Mine has been busy but in a good way. My daughter was home for 4 days. I can tell she has been working from home  and wants  some different company and a change of scenery. Since she hasn't taken any vacation time in over 7 months, she took a day, and even though we wanted to go out to a state park, the tropical storm came through. But we still had a fun day,  and  we've planned a couple of more days later this month too.  And it is nice to have her home.

So a couple of weeks ago I was invited to a bridal shower for a niece of my husband. I didn't go as I thought there might be more people than I want to be in a group with, but I did send a gift. When I went to wrap the gift (which I bought on Amazon) I realized I didn't have a bow, so I thought, why not make something?

So I die cut a bunch of pieces from the few 3D flower dies I have.

And then I put them together, mixing and matching pieces, to make a bunch of flowers.

I thought it made a cool bow replacement.

And I had a lot of fun!

I guess I've been inspired by all the flowers blooming.

We've been having dry weather (actual low level drought here) so some flowers are growing well and some have stayed pretty small.

But my potted annual plants on my back deck are doing great, but I do have to water them each day.

I do love flowers!
