I am back today with another journal page for Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's challenge at Art Journal Journey. This month our hosts challenge is Food or Collage Fodder-or Both.
Last Wednesday I shared a dog's food treat. You might remember my page with a dog on top of a whole pile of bones. Today I want to give equal time to the cat lovers out there.
I started with a piece of watercolor paper, as well as part of an ancient piece of kitty scrapbooking paper.
I sprayed my page with some spray paints and inks to create a lot of splatters and drips. Then I added some printed tissue paper to the top and bottom of my page. To give a bit more heaviness to the bottom of my page, I stitched that tissue paper. Then I drew and cut out a silhouette of a cat ( using a cat silhouette stamp as my guide) as well as one of a dead mouse.
The moon is part of a die cut moon; the whole diecut was too big for the page. This die is a really ancient one from Sizzix, back when their big dies were red, not black. The moon was cut from some silver paper, which I sanded and inked. I finally added a few foamy mini-stars and used a white Posca paint pen to write in my title.
At one point I had a couple of cats as well as a dog. Our dog, Harley was a big boy at 90 pounds (almost 41kg), and Emmie was a little 7 pound (3 kg) kitty. It always amused me that they would snuggle up together, but only when we weren't looking. I also had a big 22 pound (almost 10 kg) kitty named Leo. And according to my vet, 22 pounds was his perfect weight, so you can see he was a big boy.
My kitties were excellent hunters when they were young. One day Leo brought us a live chipmunk, a live snake and dead mouse all in one morning. The cats were more indoor cats than out, but on nice days when we were outside, we let them out and they hung out with us (well mostly).

You can see they all got along. Harley was truly a gentle giant. I am probably one of the few people who doesn't prefer cats over dogs or dogs over cats, and I liked having all 3 of them as they were wonderful company, but each in their own way.
