Hi everyone.
I've been working on my Night Sky Journal recently and thought I would share a spread with you today.
As technology changes so does the way people look at the sky. My planet photos on the left aren't particularly recent since I took them out of an 1970's atlas, but they are much more advanced than the old map and zodiac strips on the right hand side. That image comes from a calendar I used back in 2008 and had a vintage sky map theme. I added a few little bits and bobs to that page too.
I recently listened to a book on cosmology by Neil Degrasse Tyson which was really interesting but it amazed me how differently astronomers view the sky today. They measure things like microwaves and talk about the space time continuum and lots of physics going back to Einstein's 2 relativity theories. Way back when the constellations were named people basically just looked bare eyes at the night sky.
So there's not much else new here. I feel like there's been a lot of dark this week as we've had some stormy weather and the days are quickly getting very short. I'm off from work tomorrow as I need to go back to Boston for my 6 month kidney donation check up. I can't believe the surgery was already 6 months ago.
So without anything else to babble about, I will keep this short.
Have great end of your week.

Love the night sky spread. Though technology is wonderful and can expand our minds and give us a glimpse into the universe as it is, there's a charm about the old world maps.
Dark early afternoon and dark early morning. Hard to get moving. At least you don't have to shovel dark.
Have a safe trip to Boston
Both pages are super - you are right - so different how we look at the sky today - but I am not very familiar with astronomy and such things so I just look bare eyes at the night sky as people many decades ago.
Beautiful pages- it shows the differences to look at theme together - good idea !Great that you like the theme at AJJ - I love to hear this! All the best for your kidney donation check up tomorrow Erika! ♥♥♥

What an incredible contrast between the two constellations. I think this is a brilliant way to pull the two pages together. I was impressed that you chose a calendar page, too, since I'm working on a calendar page myself.
Good luck with the kidney check-up. I hope all is well with you in that regard.
You're right about how we view the sky. The real is fascinating but I love the older, more ancient images!
Wonderful wishes for a good exam -- six months. WOW!
beautiful night sky journal you are working on. love the theme to ;O))
I remember as a child sitting in my city backyard and looking at the Milky Way. Magic and science at the same time. Now the light pollution is so bad that's impossible. Each generation advances. But I miss seeing the Milky Way.
Wonderful pages for you sky journal, the skies and heavenly body never cease to fascinate me. Good luck with the check up, time has really gone by very quickly. Hugs, Valerie
It is a wonderful night sky journal spread. I think I am in the old way of thinking to just look at the sky, see the stars and enjoy being able to see it.
I hope all goes well for your check up.

Good for you for your organ donation, Erika. As I am a recent new comer to your blog perhaps you had posted about this at the time. I am a blood donor and, when the time comes, will be an organ donor as well. Selfishly, I hope that won't be for a good while.
Great art, Erika. I love looking at the sky at night. Where I live I can see stars on a clear, cold night. I read a book The End of Night by Bogard that talks about how much light pollution there is in the world today.
Two very original pages, Erika, the left one is very dramatic and I like the lettering. I've no idea how the Universe can exist the way it does, does it ever end and how can that be?
Wow, what beautiful night sky pages you have created! I enjoyed seeing and reading about how differently astronomers view the sky today too - amazing 😁. I hope you check up went well and wishing you a very happy weekend! J 😊
