Friday Art for Several Challenges

Happy Friday everyone. Thought I would share some new art today. I'll warn you, I have quite a bit to share today.

I'll start with another Inspired By page for Art Journal Journey .

I have been playing with my hand carved seaweed stamp once again. I used watercolor paints on the background around the seaweed to give the page a watery effect.  This might look similar to a page I shared last week (because it is), but I went in a different direction this time to finish it.

I stamped the crab image several times on acetate and more or less fussy cut them. Before I glued them down I colored them with some markers. I stamped the flower because it looked to me like a sea star with many legs, but I left those black and white for some contrast. After fussing cutting them, I attached them to my page. I also  stamped the quote several times. It obviously worked perfect with the crabs.

It took my  awhile to figure how to finish the page, but then I found this old image of the girl in her swimsuit and decided it worked with the crabs and the crabbiness. She looks like she is over her mood and back to playing in the water. Perhaps someone told her she couldn't go swimming for an hour after she ate lunch (I remember unhappily being told that as a kid) or maybe  her older sibling and their friends wouldn't let her hang out with them.

I think she is now busy trying to catch crabs in the sand, but if you have ever tried that, you know it isn't as easy as it might sound. Let's hope she doesn't get pinched from their claws or her crabby mood may return.

Lastly I added a few blue sequins to finish off my page.

I also want to share a page for More Mixed Media, who's April's challenge is Anything goes with an Optional Yellow.  And I am also  glad to share this page for the Birds and the Bees challenge at  Country View Challenges
My spread is in one of the little watercolor books I've been making, this one with a spring theme. It also has a cute little girl on it. She seems very happy enjoying all the new spring chicks.

Sorry for the not very flat  view in this photo. It's sometimes hard to get these pages to lay flat without my fingers in the photo holding the pages down. To make this spread I used a combinations of a fussy cut photo, some various chicks (stamped, metallic paper and wooden) as well as this vintage girl. I also added a bit of white metallic trim also.

And finally today, I have a tag for Wendy's bee challenge at Tag Tuesday

I'm not 100% happy with how this tag photographed as  it looks a bit messy. I wish I had fussy cut the acetate image down more so it didn't have as much of the acetate around the image (because the camera really picks that up). Of course it's too late do anything once it is glued down. I also had a hard time getting the tag to lay 100% straight and flat for the photo, even flattening it for a couple of days first.  You'll have to take my word it looks better in real life than in the photo. Smile.
Even though it didn't photograph well, I think this happy bee and the bee fairy with their big jar of honey are pretty cute.

OK, that's more than enough art for one day.
Thanks for visiting this mini-virtual one  lady art show.
Wishing you a great start to your weekend.

Arty eye candy is a great way to start the day. I like how your seaweed stamp turned out and the story of the little miss and her crabby mood. Lots of sun shine on your pages today. Enjoy the nice weather

You've got lots of lovely art on show today. The journal page with the sea and seaweed is great, and the spread you made for MMM is fabulous, great colours, too. And I love the sunny bee tag for Wendy's challenge. So thanks for joining us at AJJ, TH and MMM, much appreciated. Enjoy your weekend! Hugs, Valerie

Lots of art! And fun art, too. I really do love that seaweed stamp -- it has wonderful texture in itself and then with the lovely backgorund and other elements, very nice. Your egg page makes me smile!

You are on a roll, Erika. I love how you are using acetate, even if it is really hard to photograph. I had an even worse problem with my security windows. I think the tag is wonderful.

I really enjoyed all the chicks you pulled together to make that mixed media entry. Your spread was extremely clever and fun to see.

Of course, I fell in love with the spread you created for Art Journal Journey. I have always called them "star fish." I'd never heard them called sea stars before, but that stamp DOES resemble them. This was a really wonderful mixed media entry. I really LOVE that you shared it with us at AJJ, too, dear friend. You are on an art roll, that's for sure.

I've been in awe of all the art you make. You are very prolific... what can you tell us to help all of us express ourselves more often creatively? The collages are so engaging.

You´re crabby? I´m tempted to send you a CRABBS ;-)
(That stands for "craft beer Braunschweig", our number plates start with "BS").

Yes, I was told, too, no swimming after you ate, stupid, LOL! Isn´t easy to catch crabs. My older cousin managed and ran after me to scare the hell out of me. Not funny... The beer is the only crab I´ll ever touch!

Love the Easter-page. We had gum-eggs for Easter, even Ingo, who´s 8 years older than me, makes a face remembering these icky-super-sticky-mega-sweet things, ewwww. Every Easter. And when Granma gives them to you, you eat them! Because you are polite.

Ohhh, the bee-page!
Thank you for all the memories and beautiful art, hugs and to a great weekend (no matter what the weather...)
