Hi everyone. Happy middle of the week. And Happy middle of the month too. I do love September weather and wish it would last. Although they do say rain and more humidity today, the last few days have been perfect. It's been back to walking and some fun outdoor projects for me.
Today I have a vintage page for Wendy's challenge at Art Journal Journey. I am also linking up to More Mixed Media with another page as there challenge is Anything Goes with Optional Brown.
My journal page began with some watercolor paper that I used to clean up some brown paint on. I then added 2 old dictionary pages that have a vintage aged yellow effect. Those pages may be a bit brittle for everyday use, but they do work perfect for Wendy's challenge at AJJ. I used some modeling paste and stencil around some of the edges, and once that dried I took a yellow and also a brown ink pad to lightly color my texture design. Now my brown ink pad looks slightly shredded as the modeling paste dried with lots of rough bits. Note to myself, sand the dried texture paste a bit next time before rubbing an ink pad on it.
I then cut out the vintage image from an old children's book I have. I framed it on my page with some bronze foiled paper trim, 3 crepe paper leaves. Finally I added the metal clock and a stamped quote block.
There you have it.
Thanks so much for visiting!

What you crafters can do with a bunch of old "scraps" never ceases to amaze me! What talent!
Oh, I do like this one! The images from a book are so refreshing after seeing so many TH images. They truly look vintage to me! My Mom read many books to me when a child with drawn images like this so very nostalgic!,
Erika, this is gorgeous, what a lovely scene, with beautiful, autumnal colours. It's perfect for Wendy's challenge and for MMM, thanks for linking! Have a great day, take care, hugs, Valerie
Oh Wow I really love your journal page very much-hugs Kathy
Your Autumn colors here are great, and it's good to see kids playing something other than in a summertime setting. I recently saw some advice to set aside some time every day for play. Yes, even us adults :)
Amazing!
Such a gorgeous page Erika! I love it!
I agree with David. Your journal page is superb. I love those leaves, too. Thank you so much for this absolutely inspiring page you gave us using Wendy's theme. Thank you so very much, dear.
This is a lovely page Erika. I like what you've done with the background, the colours are lovely and perfect for Wendy's theme at AJJ. How lucky you were to find that picture to include, definitely an oldie.
We are away again and today has been so hot, we just sat in the sun and then had to move to the shade whilst reading our books. No complaints - like you I like September.
Hugs, Neet xx
Wow this is such a beautiful page. I love all the detail in it. Have a nice evening.
Always a lovely bonus when flicking through an old book used for scraps to find an image, this plate is a special find reminds me of pages from my childhood reading. Layered up beautifully I think you already know I love this.
Fabulous work. Hope you are keeping well?
Hugs Tracey x
Beautiful and yes, those were the times when we played unsupervised in nature!
My Nieces are not allowed this, my Brother is always around. We were free back then and, wow, we are still alive ;-)
I love how you assembled this page Erika and its a fantastic vintage image you found. I liked your note to self about the sand.
Stay safe.
Yvonne xx
Such a great vintage page, Erika. I love your scene and those words are perfect - it is a great thing to know how to play. We play so much with paper don't we? Love what David said on the first comment here - he is right! LOL! Great page!!! Hugz
That vintage image is a gem! I really like this one, Erika. Perfect for the season!
I'm a bit jealous of your NH weather! We used to get cooler in Sept but the climate has changed and we're still in the 90's
Oh my goodness, I absolutely love your entry in to our challenge at More Mixed Media. The vintage image reminds me so much of some story books I had as a child, I loved to read.
Thank you for joining us..x
