Bright Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

Hi everyone. Happy Thursday. We've finally got some rain in the forecast. We've been in a drought this fall, and we need the moisture. Plus, and this probably sounds weird, but we've had so much sun and wind that a dark day will actually be nice. If only I could stay home and be lazy it would be perfect. 😏

I realized that there's only a little over a week left to the month, and I counted up the pages I made for Wendy's On, In or By the Sea challenge at Art Journal Journey. I figured I better post another one today so I don't have too many extras. (Thanks Wendy for this theme. It's right up my alley.) And what's better on a cloudy wet day than some bright sunshine.

I'm really happy with the water I painted on this page. It's hard to capture the lazy motion on a day when the water  not churned up by the wind but not glassy smooth either. And I think I did that. The lighthouse, rocks around it and sailboat are all Art by Marlene images. I stamped the silly seagull on the boat and colored it in. I also stamped the quote, but sadly the w in the wishing word got a little bit messy.

I used a blue glaze on the sky and then added this die cut sun. It's actually a background that's card size, but I liked how it looked, especially when I used a yellow Stabilo pencils and a wet paintbrush to fill in around it.

And there you have it. I'm keeping this short today as I have some things I need to go and do. Have a great day everyone.

The water looks great, Erika. It conveys the swell, the heaving motion of the ocean, the swirls and the waves breaking over themselves. Very nicely done. All the best - David

I definitely need some sunshine...it's COLD over here. We had some snow yesterday and it wasn't that cold when it snowed, now it feels so much colder..
