Hi everyone. Happy Friday to you. I hope you had a good week, and if you're like me, trying to find something to be optimistic about after the election results. (But sadly it's quite worrisome on so many levels.)
For Nicole's Friday Face Off and Gillena's Friday Lunch Break this week I've got some birds to share. The first flock is from some photos I took back in mid-October when I made my last visit to my local botanical garden with some friends. We came across the garden's flock of guinea hens. I think they liked our company, because they followed us around for about twenty minutes.
All the time they were squawking and shuffling around our feet. I've read they are good for tick control because they eat them. After awhile we turned off in a direction they obviously didn't want to go, and they left us.
Then the other morning I glanced out the back window and saw that there were 19 wild turkeys in the backyard. This included 3 who were sitting in one of the trees.

Great backyard company! Wild Turkeys here will even venture into suburban backyards from time to time, especially where birdseed has been spilled on the ground. They are incredibly hardy birds and survive long, cold winters. I would take it as a point of honour that they come to visit you, Erika. All the best - David
...your turkey collection is amazing!!!
Occasionally, we've had herds of turkey wander through the yard, too. Did you pick out a nice, plump one for dinner? 😺Another warmish day. Enjoy
Wow! Now that's a serious turkey flock! Nineteen? Yikes!
I love the guinea hens' polka dots!
19 wild turkeys in your backyard! That's just FUN!
Wonderful bird shots!
Wonderful photos! I love watching these birds run as they look so funny!
I miss having Guinea Fowl.
The comeback of turkeys throughout the US is remarkable.
Love the flocks of birds, great to see so many at once. I'm sure Pete would have enjoyed playing with them. Have a great weekend, have a rest, have fun as the case may be! Hugs, Valerie
Nice :-)))
It's great that wild turkeys visit you in the garden and in such large numbers... sparrows, tits, robins and blackbirds come to my garden.
Thanks for your photos and a hug to you.
Happy weekend.
wow! Awesome series of phots of the turkeys ~ hugs,
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Wow! 2 of my favorite birds. You are so fortunate to have those in your back yard. Thank you for sharing them with FFO and have a nice weekend.
I miss having birds now...I used to have then in my younger days.
How do wild turkeys survive without regular food supplies? How do they get protection from cold and wet weather?
That was a seriously lot of fowl and turkeys, Erika, and I anted to comment that this post was for the birds...whoops I just did. Since you said that hunting season (aside from those archers) is over, the turkeys must have felt comfortable in the back yard.
Nice pics, dear Erika - you´ve also got falling autumn leaves. And they seem to have lost the bright colour. And the poor turkeys I saw in your previous post seem to be afraid of Thanksgivin...:-).
All the best
Violetta
We have two guinea fowl at our caravan park and they drive me nuts. they are so stupid and walk in front of you as you are driving through. Sorry if I offend anyone by saying that.
Love the wild turnkeys though, Nineteen of them seems a mighty big flock.
Hugs Neet xx
