Hi everyone. I hope the new month is going well for you. I'm glad to report the hubby's back/ hip is on the mend. He called his doctor, and I went with him for his appointment. She gave him some muscle relaxers and as well as some steroids. Even though it's not a fast process, it looks like the cause is muscular which is better than if something had gone off with his spine. 👍
Today I have some art for a couple of challenges to share. I'm front loading this month with some art posts because at the end of next week I'll be heading out on an adventure and I don't plan on posting much while gone. That is if the hubby's back continues to improve, but I'm thinking positive. (And even the doctor thinks if it's muscular he should be good to go. 👍)
I apologize for this first photo, or at least for how crooked it is. It's a page from my summer journal and the cardstock didn't quite like to stay flat with the media I added to it.
This bubble page began with the 2 stickers in the bottom right corner. I loved the challenge of figuring out not only to make the bubbles but how to make them really seem like bubbles (versus just circles on the page). I started by drawing and coloring in circles with a black marker and then using some Glossy Accents in the circles. Once that dried, I then added some pink glitter glue. Once that dried, I outlined the bubble with a white pen, and added a bit of blue glitter glue. Then I added a bit more pink, and let them dry for a day.
I now needed to give the page some motion because of course bubbles like to float on the air currents. To do that I quickly brushed some light blue acrylic paint around the bubbles. Then I splattered the page with some dark blue watercolor paint. I was happy with the final look, (I think they look like bubbles), so I bordered the page with a white pen and used a very very old 7Gypsies clear stamps set to stamp the quotes.
I also made a tag for this month's challenge at
Tag Along (and ATCs too). Lynn has chosen this month's theme, and it is
Things With Wings.
I used a standard white tag and lightly inked the background with TH's Stormy Sky and Weathered Wood colors. I then took an image from an Alison Bomber/ Paper Artsy stamp set and stamped it multiple times on my tag. I used markers to color in those images. I added the tiny butterflies then using orange Versafine Claire ink. The butterfly image comes from one of my first stamp sets. These mini butterflies are from an old, old set by Hero Arts that had 4 various tiny butterflies. It's one of my most used and actually quite loved sets of stamps. If I could only save a few of my stamps, these butterflies would have to be in that collection.
I used a brown marker and added a few dots on the butterflies I stamped because they looked like they needed something. Finally I took a quote from a TH quote stamp set and added that.
That's all for me this post. Thanks for stopping by.

Beautiful deep teal colours on your first piece and such a pretty tag with the blossoms and Butterflies, perfect for this months theme at Tag-Along (and ATC's) challenge, lovely as always to have you join in.
Enjoy your trip.

...stay positive, the best is yet to come!
I didn't realize that they were bubbles until I scrolled down and saw the bottle at the right end...the 2nd page is really lovely!
I'm curious to see what kind of adventure this is for you, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your husband will have resolved his back problems by then.
Your beautiful journal page is bluish and has a matching background! Great idea! The Tag is so beautiful, too!
Hugs Elke
Goodness you put a LOT into those bubbles And they do look like bubbles. Of course that teal background is stunning. I like how you framed it, too. This is a wonderful entry for Mia's theme at AJJ.
What a sweet tag. You can never have too many butterflies!
Lovely art! Enjoy your adventure and all the best to hubby.
Loving your art! Hugs
Nearly good news about your Hubby!
Wow on the bubbles! And the colors. And yes, the best is yet to come! Hugs to that!
Erika que bom que o seu marido está bem, que belas artes, feliz quinta-feira bjs.
Just love the base colour you chose to use on your bubble page. Yes, you achieved bubbles and you also achieved movement with the use of the paler blue paint. Well done Erika.
So glad hubby is going to be well enough to go on holiday (fingers and toes crossed). How strange I went to the doctor this morning and was prescribed steroids for my chest which has a bit of a wheeze in it.
Lovely little tag too.
`hugs Neet xx
I like the bubbles. I hope you're enjoying this beautiful day.
I don't know why it is, but I just love tags! This one is really pretty.
Pleased to read that your hubby's back problem is on the mend.
I like your page and a very nice tag too.
Have a good Friday and weekend.
All the best Jan
I hope that your husband will quickly recover. All the best - David
Oh wow I love all of the bubbles! I see the shimmer in each bubble including the bottle! Brilliantly done with your background too! Your tag is so pretty with the flowers and butterflies...very happy and uplifting. Hoping that you have a wonderful time away and hubby is feeling good to go! HUGS
Fab art, Erika. The colors on the bubble page are wonderul. Lovely work. Hugz
Cool bubbles, it's fun to play with the supplies isn't it? And your tag is quite pretty with your cute butterflies. I'm sorry to hear hubby's back is acting up but good to know it's muscular. They say to exercise lightly and not stay in bed like the olden day remedy. I have back and hip pain all the time and stretch maybe a dozen times a day. It does help for a while and overall. Hope he recovers for your plans, xoxo
Your tag is so pretty Erika. Love the flowers and the tiny little butterflies look perfectly placed. I hope hubby's back recovered in time for your next adventure!!
Thanks for playing along with us at Tag-along (and ATC's).
Very inspiring page, Erika! Thank you for entering my challenge at Art Journal Journey.
Hugs,
