Friday Art

     Hi everyone. It is ALREADY another Friday. I seriously don't know where time is going to. Today I have an art post, and  I will be linking up to a few challenges. 

   First off since it's Friday, it's time for Nicole's Friday Face Off. That also means it's time for Gillena's Friday Lunch Break. 

    For my face today I have one more UNFINISHED cloth journal page. Just like the other ones, the background is a cut up old pillow case, and I will be backing it up on some other fabric one of these days.

  I printed the face on fabric using a paper  image I liked. I die cut two small circles out some scraps fabric. I also die cut the fall flower out of some yellow fabric.  The trick with die cutting cloth imagines and then sewing them on a machine is that you want images  that have simple edges. Because die cuts tend to be small, you can't have anything too complex at the edge because you have to be able to manage your machine around the entire outer image.

   Since my page today is made of cloth, I'll be linking a up to Halle's Fabrics, Lace and Trims, Oh My challenge over at Art Journal Journey.

   I also have one more tag to share over at Tag Along (and ATCs too). This month Brenda is hosting, and her theme is Favorite Colors or  anything goes.

    When I made my last tag I also made a second tag using the same seashell background. Instead of my favorite blues with my favorite shade of green, this time I substituted a favorite shade of pink for the blues. It's fun to see how changing up the color combos gives art a totally different feel.

   I stamped the shell background (Impression Obession) and then used pink, light brown and green ink pads to color the background. I  used some markers to color in the shells and also a white pen on the little clam shells. I edge the tag with a pink Posca paint pen. Then I added 2 peel and stick silver starfish stickers. Because these stickers just gave an outline, I filled them with some coppery colored glitter glue. I also added a little clear water drop crafty "gemstone" on each starfish. I finished by stamping my quote (Rosie's Roadshow) three times and then trimming them down and adding them to my tag.

A Thursday Art Post

    Hi everyone. Happy Thursday. Today I have some art to share for a couple of challenges. First I have a tag for Tag Along (and ATC's too). This month Brenda is hosting, and her theme is Favorite Colors. But you can also always post a tag, ATC or bookmark for anything goes too.

   I'm also linking this tag up to Creative Artiste Mixed Media challenge #128, where the theme is always Anything Goes.

   I love the blue and greens of summer, so that's the main colors of my tag today.

   I started with an old Impression Obsession cover a card seashell stamp, which I stamped in dark blue.  You can just see the images peeking lightly through the background. 

    Then I used some vivid turquoise and lime green liquid ink to color over my background. It was a bit too bold, so I lightly sponged some white gesso over it. Now my  background was ready for some images.

   I took out a very old Kin Hughes/ Cornish Heritage Farm stamp set full of fish and other sea creatures. I stamp the wave directly onto the bottom of the tag. I used a dark blue paint pen to color it in, added a bit of white paint pen, and then finished that with some very dark blue Stickles glitter glue.

  I then took some fish and stamped them on white paper. I colored them in with markers and fussy cut them. Once I added them to my tag I darken the stamp outline with a black pen, and I also gave them a little glitter glue sparkle too. Finally  I added some clear water drop style embellishments. I also stamped the quote which  came from the same stamp set and outlined it with the same blue paint pen I used for the water.

   Since it's any arty kind of day I also have a page for Halle's Fabric, Lace and Trim challenge at Art Journal Journey. Today my page is made in my ledger journal and except for some cloth trim, is a paper page.

   I started with some lavender colored ink and an old Hero Arts background stamp which I stamped several times around my page. I like how left a light random design and even the bare spots (thanks to what was on some of the pages before this one).  I then took some scrap paper and tore what was left a bit. I knew I wanted to use this old B Line stamp, which I stamped on white and had decided, after  I fussy cut it, to leave it uncolored. I wanted the black and white background paper to fill in around most of the image, and because it was black and white is why I left the stamp uncolored. 

  I then fussy cute both the flower and the banner out of a sheet of paper. I colored the banner to match some trim (since I thought I had purple ric-rac but didn't). I finished by adding the banner and the ric-rac. I also had the left over of a large word stamp on my work table, so I cut out the words and added them. They seemed to work perfectly with my images. Finally I added a few white beads to the banner  to tie into the white flower.

Thursday Art

 Hi everyone. Happy Thursday. 

  Today I'm sharing another journal page  for Mia's Birds challenge at Art Journal Journey  This page in my journal doesn't want to lay flat even when I push back the covers, so I apologize for the quality of the photos. (I actually had to use a small clamp to hold the page down while I made it.) 😣

    The background began when I was trying out an ink pad to see if it was the right coppery-brown shade for different page. No sense wasting ink if it wasn't quite right, and I could use whatever coppery-brown color it was on this page. The ink ended up quite streaky on the paper (and didn't work for the other piece I was trying to make either), so I covered up much of it with this 4 frame sheet of collage paper. In 3 of the frames I added some acetate that I stamped on and then cut to fill the frame. I thought 4 blank frames was a little too boring. 😏

    I then edged the top and bottom of that sheet with some washi tape.

    The parrot is cut out of a sheet of Ciao Bella paper, and the flowers are cut out of a sheet of Mintay paper. Those flowers were all white, but I did  a tiny amount of coloring on some of them. I thought the white would pop off the page a lot more than if they were completely colored in. Finally, I finished with a quote from TH.  

   I also want to share another tag for Pinky's Add Some Pink challenge at Tag Along (and ATC's too).

   This time I started with a red tag, and I outlined the edges with a white paint pen. I punched out 3 flowers from an older Art  By Marlene set. I added a bit of pink paint with a  paint pen to the more purple flowers. Then I took some leftover scrap mini flowers that were white and painted them pink also. I glued them down in the center of each flower.

   I had this metal ribbon charm (I believe from TH) in my stash. It was silver, so I painted it pink and added a small pink 1/2 pearl  to the center. Then I added a piece of thread through the loop and glued it down. Finally, I finished my tag by stamping the Inspiration word with white pigment ink. The word comes from a musical Stamperia set.

Sunday Art-Pelicans and Hummingbirds

     Hi everyone. I hope your weekend is going well.   We're having some nice weekend weather and finally some beautiful May temperatures. ❤ It feels even better since we haven't had a lot of this weather so far this spring.👍

    Today I have some bird inspired art to share for a couple of challenges including Nicole's Sunday in the Art Room (Sitar) and Gillenas's Sunday Smiles. I'll also be linking a up to Art Journal Journey and  Tag Along (and ATCs too) It's a busy post for certain. 😉

    First, let me share this page for Mia's Birds challenge over at Art Journal Journey. It's part of a trip journal I just finished making, the trip being my weekend away in South Carolina. By the shore we saw lots of pelicans; they are always fun to watch. The big guy at the bottom (of my page) reminds me of one time when the hubby and I were somewhere (maybe coastal North Carolina) eating lunch on a dock and this one pelican flew in and landed on  piling. He kept watching us eat. As soon as we looked at him, he turned away like he didn't care we were there. But as soon as we went back to our lunch, his eyes were on us again. 😄

   I started with 2 pieces of paper. The base paper is covered with seagulls,  (more birds, right?), and then I cut part of this wave designed paper to put on the bottom. This paper was plain light blue wit the dark wavy lines, so I decided to add details using blue and white paint pens to color in some of the waves on the paper. 

  The tiny flying pelicans are stamped and then fussy cut before I glued them down. I created the large piling with some scrap paper, and then I stamped and fussy cut the big pelican. I lost some of the stamped details when I colored him in with the dark brown marker, so I added some white flecks to him to try to give him a few details.

   Finally I added a white cloth sticker sun that I painted yellow, and then stamped and added the quote (Impression Obsession).

    Here's one of the inspirations for my journal page today. I reminds me I should have added some white to the pelican's head. 😏

    You can see the punched holes and the metal binding rings on the right side of my page. This is the first time I made my own 2 ring binder journal cover. I hadn't known you could buy unattached binding rings up until recently.

  Here's the cover of that journal.

   I cut an old book apart and covered the actual covers with a recycled  Amazon bag and then I used cloth bookbinding tape to cover the edges of the cover and to make a spine. I used pink stencil paste and a stencil to add the texture to the cover. What I find really strange (but also interesting to look at) was how much lighter that pink stencil paste looked on the black binding tape than it did on the paper bag. That was true even when I rubbed some watery orange acrylic paint over it. Hmmm.  

 

   To finish the covers I used some chicken wire designed cloth tape along the edges and used some TH metal book corners. The Charleston stamp is something you can collect and should put into a special stamp collection book, but I usually buy them and put them in (or on) my travel journal. I use a TH metal frame that was in my stash around this travel stamp.

   And I definitely don't want to forget to share the tag I made today for Pinky's  Add Some Pink challenge at Tag Along (and ATCs too).

   I started with a brown paper bag colored tag that I rubbed some Versafine Claire Pink ink over.  Then I fussy cut the heart out of a sheet of paper, and I punched out the hummingbird (49 and Market) and the daisy  (Stamperia). I did use a light pink marker and colored in some of the daisy's petals. The quote is from a TH quote set, and I finished off my tag with some pink lace cloth trim.

Thursday Art

  Hi everyone. Happy Thursday. Today I have some art for a couple of challenges to share. All my art is inspired by some of the latest birds at the feeders.

  I've started having some crows feeding in my yard. They've been in the woods for as long as I can remember, and I've seen them flying overhead. But I've never noticed them looking for food in the yard. They are my inspiration for today's art.

   This first piece is a tag that I'll link up over at Tag Along (and ATC's). Brenda is hosting this month, and her theme is Blossoms, Butterflies and Birds.

   I was just randomly inking some tags one day, and I really liked these 4 colors of Versamark Claire together. I stamped  some bare trees from a newer Alison Bomber/ Paper Artsy set. The words are also from one of Alison's sets. 

   I had some scrap trim (an old die from Cheery Lynn) on my work table. It didn't quite balance fit along the bottom, but I still decided to go with it because I liked how the lace finished off the tag. I also added a small  image fussy cut from a Ciao Bella piece of paper over the part of the trim too. I put a tiny TH half person to the center of the eye.

   The crows come from some clear printed tape. I have no idea who made it, but I wish I did because I'd love to find another roll. 😏 I like to use it by cutting out the crows individually. The moon is from a set of metallic paper images that I've had for decades. I finished my tag by using a bit of glitter glue to make some stars starting to come out.

    My art journal page is one of those not so successful ones.  I am sharing it because even though not every page works out, the beauty of art journaling is that it gives you a place to learn from your mistakes.  I learned here that I shouldn't have used the black watercolor paint on the background. 😏

    I originally cleaned a stencil off on this page, and I don't really mind the brick effect. I then took a Penny Black bare birch tree stamp and stamped it twice to make the image tall enough to fit the page. I had to do a bit of fixes to the 2 images with a pen to make it become one tall tree, and I really like how that worked out.

  I fussy cut out some of the crows from the roll of clear tape I mentioned above, and I added them on some tree branches. Then I used the black watercolor paint to make a light wash. That wash was definitely too dark.  👎😞  I do like the black watercolor splatter I added after I added the wash though.

   I decided to finish the page with a small tag, the stamped the dusk word from the same Alison Bomber set as is on my bigger tag, and I filled in the hole with a black fastener.  The wooden leaf was sitting on my desk, so I painted it green and added that. 

 

  Finally, here's  three photos I snapped through the window (those crows are quite skittish)  of those crows who inspired me. I love the expression on  the one on the left. I'm not sure if it was because he noticed me a few feet back from the window and was watching me, or the look was meant for his partner.

     And here's a photo from the other day when we had (sadly) a taste of a little more winter. (And luckily that taste didn't last. 😏)

Spring Art

   Hi everyone. I hope you're having a good weekend. Last night we changed the clocks (spring ahead), and so today I will probably be all out of whack.  😂 The light evenings are going to be great though, and it means we're on our way to better weather. 👍 (Hopefully soon.)

  Today I am joining lots of different challenges with some spring themed art. It is Sunday so I'll be joining Nicole for Sunday in the Art Room  (also known as SITAR). I'm also joining Gillena for her  Sunday Smiles . I have a journal page so I'll be joining Chris for her Spring Forward challenge over at Art Journal Journey. And last but never least, I have a spring flower tag so I'll be joining  Tag Along (and ATCS) for Lynn's Spring Flowers challenge.

   My journal page today is definitely a mixed media piece. My inspiration started with this set of metallic stickers with a couple of children and lots of kites. I'm not sure why kites always make me think of March and spring, but they do.

   Besides the stickers, I also used some paint. I started by inking the background with a blue ink pad. Then I used some blue watercolor paint over it to brighten it up a bit more. The paint also covered in all the little spots that the ink pad missed.

    I wanted the children to be flying their kits in a grassy field. and I didn't want them to be way down at the bottom so my page would be all sky. I placed them part way up the page. At this point they were floating in the sky. 😉 Then I used 3 colors of green acrylic paint and painted "stripes" to represent the grasses. The beauty about metallic stickers is while the paint is wet you can wipe it off the image, and even when it dries, you can lightly scrape off any little bit you don't want.   I also covered up the foot on each person who was standing in the ground because my stripes made the grass look long, and therefore their standing foot wouldn't be showing.

   It didn't look exactly right at this point, so I used some green paint and painted a few horizontal stripes to create the actual ground. When I was doing a bit of watercolor splatter on the other page of this journal spread, I accidentally got a bit of red-brown paint on this one, but I  don't mind that. In fact, I'm happy with the way my ground came out. Making grass come out is a trickier process than it seems. 

   I colored the kites with Sharpies and added a couple of other kite stickers. I used some slightly watered down white acrylic paint to make the white clouds, and I cut the blue clouds out of a sheet of paper.  I  outlined those clouds with a black Sharpie. The sun is also a metallic sticker from another sheet, and I used Sharpies to color in the face.

   To finish off my page I stamped the main quote from a TH set, and I pulled off a quote and mini butterfly stickers from the same sticker set as the kites and added them to the grass. It's hard to read that quote but it says laugh and play.  Finally, to pull it all together, I used some of the same blue watercolor paint I used for the sky and lightly splattered it on the background and I used some more watered down white acrylic paint for a second light splatter. 

Now that was a long explanation. Sorry. 😏 Here's my tag that I will be linking a up to Tag Along (and ATCS).

    I started with an old black tag from my stash. The right side was a bit rough so I used a black Sharpie on the edge to cover up where the black had worn off.

    Then I experimented and took some iridescent ink pads and rubbed them directly on the tag. I then let the ink on the tag dry for a few days.I really like the sheen that they created

   When the ink was dry, I fussy cut some spring flowers from some 49 and Market paper and added them. I then added a punch out letter from a set from Stamperia (I think). I die cut the green clover using an old Quickkutz die. I inked the clover to give it some depth and drew in the details. I then added some metallic paper items. They include the gold clover, the pink flower border and also the yellow chick. I did  a bit of coloring on the chick to bring out the details.  Finally I stamped  the quote in white from an old clear stamp set, but since I don't have the paper labeling any longer, I am not sure who made it.

Count Down 3-2-1

   Hi everyone. It's Tuesday, and that means it's time for a new challenge over at Try It on Tuesday.

  Thank you everyone who joined our All Loved Up challenge. I love the variety of love themed art that was shared.

   For our new challenge we have one that's a little bit more specific. This time we're asking for art that fills the category of Count Down 3-2-1.

   I didn't know how this challenge would work on a journal page (of course it could have worked), but I thought it would be easier on a smaller format. I grabbed 3 of these smaller blue tags I had. I also had a pile of some stickers out on my work table, so I decided I wanted to use those.

   I started by stamping a number image to each tag (I needed to do something with the background) and then using some embossing powder.  I think the embossed background works great on 2 of these, but not so great on the other tag. 

   On the left hand tag I used one flower sticker. I colored that in and then added 2 bird stickers. Finally I stamped a 3 tiny words.

   On the middle tag I added 3 hanging Japanese lantern stickers. I then added the sticker with the 2 cranes. I noticed at this point that they are standing on 3 Lily pad leaves so I guess I didn't need the hanging lanterns. I wasn't sure what to do for the 1 part, so I added one Chinese coin also hanging among the lanterns.

   This last tag is my favorite. I almost posted just this one, but then decided why not show all 3. To make this tag I added  1 butterfly sticker, 2 boxed flower stickers and then 3 little confetti dots to show the butterfly is in motion. I colored in the stickers with some markers. 

   All of the stickers I used are just outline stickers, and I colored them all in with markers.They are oldies from a company from Starform.

   I am also linking this last tag  to Pinky's number challenge at Tag Along (and ATCs).

  Our Try It On Tuesday challenge runs for the next 2 weeks, and as always, we accept any kind of art. I found this challenge a little tricky, so I'm excited to see other people's take on it.

This and That Art for Thursday

    Hi everyone. Happy Thursday to you. I hope you're having a nice week so far. It's been chilly at my house, and it's going to get even  chillier  before too long. 😨

 

    A couple of weeks ago I was going through a drawer and came across this journal I had made and never used. Now why was it just sitting there, tucked away? I guess at some point I wanted a journal for something and then never got to using up? It was a fun find, but there was no sense putting it back into the drawer only so it would be forgotten about again. There's no time like the present right? Especially when  the Andy Warhol Queen paper it was covered in was calling me so now I'm filling it up. ❤ 

   On the back of a page I added this tag that I made.  Or maybe it's more of a bookmark. I'm linking this up to Brenda's Love and Romance challenge at Tag Along (and ATCs).

   Shortly after I found this journal, I also found some scraps of paper that were either tag or bookmark sized already. Since it's not worth wasting them, I used this turquoise colored one and lightly inked the background with  a green ink pad. Then I added this postage scrap from 49 and Market. The big flower is also from that same company. Then I stamped  the little xo series in 3 of the postage boxes. I used a very very old peg stamp from a Valentine's set by PSX. The big X and O comes from another old clear set by Memory Box. I colored them in. I also took another peg stamp from the same Valentine's PSX set and stamped 3 little black hearts, which I then used as a frame around some little card confetti hearts.  (I think they are from Sprinkletz.) Finally I added a bit of funky yarn to the top and bottom, and stamped the LOVE word at the bottom. (It is another very old stamp and doesn't have a maker mark on it. It might have been from the same PSX peg set, but I just don't remember.) I finished by outlining the edges with a Sharpie.

    I also have a page for my "What's Up?" challenge at Art Journal Journey.  "What's Up?" with me is that I've been working in my newly found journal and have been making nice weather inspired pages. 😏 Anything to forget about the cold, ice and snow. Grin.

     Some of the  pages in this journal are watercolor paper, and then inserted in between them  are some large pieces of other types of paper. This page is some music printed paper. I decided to not only continue my spring/nice weather theme but to tie in the music also.

   I actually used a lot of stickers on this page. The flowers are another John Derian sticker, but I did enhance this one with some markers and pens. The guitar was a sticker outline that I added and then colored it in. The trumpet and sax were both fully colored stickers.  The hummingbird is a 49 and Market laser cut image, and the chickadee was on a tag that was connected to the new mug I bought and shared this past Monday on T Day. I fussy cut him out.  I also added a few little metallic musical notes stickers.

    The "Sit a Bit" quote on the page is stamped, and the flower's Latin scientific information were part of the big sticker that I cut out and added in a different spot. Finally I finished by adding some washi tape to the top and bottom. 

    

    It's supposed to be the warmest day of the week today, and I hope to get out and walk or least get a little  change of scenery. That's it for me. Thanks for stopping by my blog. 

Mid-week Art

    Hi everyone. Happy mid-week to you. Today I have an art post. 

   Let me start with this tag I made for Brenda's Love and Romance challenge over at Tag Along (and ATC's). I really like how this tag came out. It has me thinking of spring, and since the weather has been a bit warmer lately, I guess I am already thinking of the next season. 😏

   I started with a  scrap of thin white cardboard that came in some Christmas gift. It was just the right size for a tag so I saved it.  I started by inking the paper with  blue Archival  ink, and then I used a bit of pink-purple Archival on the edges.  I then stamped the butterfly over the background. The butterfly comes from a Stampendous set. 

   I  took a TH frame and added a bit of pink paper to the open center. I added some light pink (although I couldn't get the color right in the photo no matter what I tried) tickets from 49 and Market. Then I stamped, colored and  fussy cut the little butterfly from the same Stampendous set as the background butterflies.  To finish my tag I used a Sara Naumann stamp set from Paper Artsy. I stamped the heart (although I only inked part of that image) and also the love word.

  I also made a pocket from an envelope to hold my tag in one of my journals. It looks better in person than it does in a photograph. I think it's  a bit busy, but if I could get rid of a couple of red clear doily images it might be better. 😅

    Sometimes my desire to clean things off my work table takes over the desire for some not so cluttered design. 😏 You may see this envelope again. I've been busy reworking some older art lately.

   I'm not linking that pocket up to Art Journal Journey because I'm not sure it's really a journal page, but I am linking the next page to my "What's Up?" challenge.

   I had this balloon sticker which I liked and thought was interesting, so I decided to make a balloon page. I started by inking a my page with my blue Archival ink pad. Then I stamped  the 3 smaller balloons. They are part of an older set from the now defunct Flourishes clear stamps. I colored them in. Then I added my big balloon sticker.  After that I painted the clouds with some white paint, and then once that paint dried I took a Stabilo watercolor pencil and outlined them. With a wet brush I smudged the black watercolor pencil.

   I used some watercolor paint and added the darker blue streaks to give my background some depth. Finally I cut out the 3 faces from some old TH photo booth pieces that were in my stash. I added them to my page. I decided not to add a quote to this page, which makes it look a bit unfinished, but still, I don't think it really needs a quote. And if I decide it needs a quote later, I can add one then.

Thursday Art

   Hi everyone. Happy Thursday. This week, like all the others lately, is buzzing right by. And they predict today will be a bit warmer; perhaps even warm enough for a nice afternoon walk. 😏 (I hope...)

  Today I have some art to share for a couple of challenges.  First  I have a page for Sharon's Winter challenge at Art Journal Journey. This time my link to winter is the grey sky background, as one thing about winter is that it's much darker more of the time. 

  I used my new Kuratake Gansai Tami Graphite watercolors to color the background. Then I used an older TH die to cut out the street lamp. I filled in the glass dome of the lamp with gold paint and then drew in the lighted candle.  The 2 crows are on some clear washi tape that I have.

  I also die cut the trim that I used on both the top and bottom using an old Cheery Lynn die. The flowers are a heavy duty paper image that I received as a freebie when I ordered something earlier in the fall. Finally, I stamped the quote from a Paper Artsy Sara Naumann set. 

   I also have another tag to share over at Tag Along (and ATCs). This month Lynn is hosting, and even though you can always join with an anything goes tag. Lynn is requesting reed and green. My tag has lots of red and green, and even a little bit of blue too.

   The background is inked with some green Versafine Clair ink. Once that dried I used a bit of turquoise ink over it. I added a bit of washi tape ( from an  older TH set) and then I added a 49 and Market punch out twig with berries. Finally I finished by stamping the Joy to the World text. This stamp is ancient and has no markings on it. The little holly next to it is part of the stamp, and I colored in the leaves and berries.

Some Art Today

 Hi everyone. I'm waking up to a winter wonderland this morning. ❄ I guess since it's meteorological winter I should expect it. Last year we had snow at Thanksgiving, so I guess I could say it's even on the late side this year. 😏 I know many of you were also in the path of this same storm too, and I wonder if and how much snow other people received. Once it gets light out I'll be able to get a better measurement, but when I wrote this post last night we had about 5 or 6 inches (12.7-15.4 cm). 

  Today I have some art to share for a couple of challenges. Let me start by joining Lynn's Red and Green challenge over at Tag Along (and ATC's). They're now also accepting bookmarks, which is a super idea since so many tags look or could easily be used for a bookmark. 

    I used and old smaller Hero Arts Holly stamp to decorate the background. I also inked the background with some green ink and then used some markers to color and highlight the edges of the holly. The little elf is also from a Hero Art set; This one has not only the stamp but the matching die with it. I used some markers to color this cherry little guy. Before I glued him down I added a bit of washi tape. And after I glued him down I decided the tag little a little empty so I added this winter flower image which is a punch out from 49 and Market. To finish, I used a stamped quote from a TH holiday quote set. I then fussy cut and added it. 

    And if the right hand top of the tag looks a little strange, that's because when I was photographing it another tag slid down behind it a bit, and I didn't notice it until later. Sorry about that. 

   I also have a page today for Sharon's Winter challenge at Art Journal Journey.

   My journal is 8x8, and this background paper from Stamperia fits it just right.  I then took an image from a Ciao Bella image book and cut it out. That is the image you find in the center of the page. I did use a bit of grey ink pad ink along the edge of the image so it would blend in a bit more.  

     I cut the Santa sticker from the same booklet. The snowflake on the left is a die cut, and I also added a gold metallic paper star. Finally I used some white ink to stamp the quote, but for the life of me I can't remember what set I took the quote from, Of course I made this page a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not sure that's a good excuse. 😏

Time for a New Challenge

     Hi everyone. Happy Tuesday. It's time again for a new challenge at Try It on Tuesday. The last 2 weeks flew by, and thanks to all of you who joined our Halloween challenge. 

    Now that one holiday is over, it's time to move onto another holiday. This time our challenge has a Christmas theme and we want you to GET READY FOR CHRISTMAS.

   I decided to make some tags to put on a few special gifts. I had so much fun that I ended up making over a dozen tags.  As you probably know, the beauty of tags is that they don't take very long  and you can try out lots of ideas. Here's a few of those that I made. 

   To make these I used various die cuts, inks, stamps, paper, glitter glues, tapes, markers, paints, paint pens, and other ephemera. For the sake of brevity, I'll mention I used several Tim Holtz products, Stickles, some Little B dies, Cornish Heritage Farm dies, and some Hero Arts stamp and dies.

   Here's one of the tags enlarged. I'll also be linking this one up to Tag Along (and ATC's). They’re latest challenge is texture.

   To make this tag, I covered the tag with some swirly green paper, and then I used purple ink along the edges.  I cut out the 3 lightbulbs using an old set of dies from Little B (Christmas Icons set). I glued them down, colored in the base and used silver Stickles glitter glue on them. I drew in the cord, and also outlined the quote which is from a TH stamp set. To finish I added a small piece of velvet ribbon and also some TH washi tape above it.  I like the texture from the velvet ribbon and the Stickles. 

   Don't forget that at Try It on Tuesday our challenge runs for the next 2 weeks. We accept any type of art as long as it relates to the challenge.

   And definitely check out the other design team pieces because I know tags aren't everybody's thing to make.

Time for a New Challenge

    Hi everyone. Happy Tuesday. Since it's Tuesday and I'm posting that means it's time for a new challenge at Try It on Tuesday.

      But first, thank you everyone who joined our Autumn Colors challenge. And thank you Elisa for being a wonderful guest designer for that challenge.  The last 2 weeks went by so fast, and now it's time for our new topic which is HALLOWEEN. 

   I'm sharing a page from a little Halloween journal I created this month. Sadly the dot on the exclamation point at the end of the word boo fell off and went somewhere. 😒

    I covered my page with this bone paper and I ran it at a diagonal to give it a little more interest. Then I die cut the pocket from some black left over packaging.

    I then created a couple of tags. They didn't take long because I used a lot of stickers and pre-printed images for them.

    For this tag I inked the background with black ink and then splattered some black watercolor paint  to give it some details. Except for the little bat circle, all of the images are from an old sticker set I had in my stash. The little bat circle was also in my stash, attached to a brad from October Afternoon.  I cut the Brad part away and then attached it.

     The other tag came pre-printed, but I still splattered black watercolor paint over (but once it was finished this time.) I added some Janet Klein images from AALL&Create  to it, and then I finished by adding a puffy star sticker (from the same sheet as the ghosts in the other tag) and also a word from a package of Tim Holtz Halloween images.

Time for a New Challenge

     Hi everyone. It's Tuesday so that means it's time for a new challenge over at Try It on Tuesday.

    Thank you to everyone who joined our last challenge, "Animals: Real or Imaginary". And a shout out to Sarah from Sarah's Craft Shed for being our guest designer. It was a popular challenge, but it's a favorite of mine so I get why.  I really enjoyed seeing this challenge's art pieces. 

     Our newest challenge is also a favorite of mine. This time we're asking for your Autumn Colors.

    I made a triptych of tags with some petty red autumn maple leaves on them. You might ask why I went with blue tags since blue isn't the most autumn color, but I was thinking of beautiful autumn days when there are bright blue skies and colorful leaves. All the  stamped leaves and words are from a maple leaf set called Erika's Maple by Visible Image. Ha ha. I just had to have this one, not only for the pretty leaves but because of the name.  😏 The other background images are from a Paper Artsy set.

   You might be able to tell I also used some sparkly red embossing powder on my tags too. I've been in an embossing mood for a little while now. And yes, as a few of you have mentioned, it is so fun to see it melt when you put the heat gun to it. 😏
