Frankie Is Thirsty

Hi everyone. Happy Friday once again. Since we are getting close to Halloween , I have another journal page for Elle's Steampunk Halloween or Halloween Steampunk challenge at Art Journal Journey.  Since it is also Friday and time for Nicole's Friday Face Off, I have a lot of faces to share today. And last but never least, I will also be linking  up to Gillena's Friday Lunch Break.

I found a package of inexpensive  but fun Halloween stickers at Target a few weeks back. They're meant for treat bags at a kid's event, but I  thought they'd be fun to use anyhow. That's where Frankie's face comes from. And for the background I used a stencil and a Sharpie to draw the lines, some black ink to added a bit of depth to the paper, and finally some bright green paint to make a border int he top and bottom of my page.

This year's Halloween mini-sized journal project is all about a spooky Halloween party, so I ended up giving Frankie a glass of champagne. Doesn't he look like he's reaching out for it? I used some watered down cream colored paint in the glass, then added a few little confetti bubbles, and finally put clear glue over it all. I wanted you to be able to see through the glass, but still get the effect you would get if you looked through a real glass. OK, I was only partially successful but I'm happy with it.

I chose this quote because if you've read Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein, you know the monster wanders the mountains. I figured he might be thirsty after all that foot travel. 😏

I've mentioned before how a couple of weeks ago I visited my local botanical garden. At one time there was a small flock of guinea hens there, but on this day I only saw 1. He/she latched onto my friend and I and followed us around for a short walk, mostly when we were by a couple of places to get a drink.

Guinea hens are interesting looking birds, and in some ways they look like they are pieced together, just like Frankenstein. But I'd much rather meet a guinea hen than a real Frankenstein.  😏

And since I'm sharing a bit of bird/wildlife faces, can you see the snout of this visitor that was on my deck first thing the other morning?

Although I don't want him making a home in my house, opossums are actually good to have around because they eat lots of ticks. Perhaps that's why the only tick I've had to take care of all summer was crawling on me.   I never found one on either dog.  I don't like ticks and the diseases they can carry aren't anything I want anyone to catch either.

And finally for today, the wild turkeys were back in the yard earlier this week. I counted 11 of them.

What I found interesting is that my husband walked up from the driveway into the backyard while they were there, and they ignored him and continued to eat. When I opened the back door to step out onto the deck for a photo, they formed this perfect line and headed off into the woods. I wonder why they didn't feel threatened by him but they did by me. Hmmm. I'm the one who threw some millet seed out in the lawn, not that they knew that. And actually I threw out the seed for the mourning doves, but we're all willing to share.

That's all for me. Have a super Friday and weekend ahead.

Like Grumpy Frankie is rather cute ...! Cheers!
Water after all the wandering might be a not so fun choice, you are right!
You had a cute companion in the Botanical garden... another Frankie?
To opossums. LOL, you are like the Rattenfänger von Hameln/Pied Piper of Hamelin, just the opposite, you chase the turkeys away!
Have a great Friday, hugs

Frankie is very cool! I'm sure that glass of champagne was very refreshing after his wandering. When we lived in Portland, OR, we had an oppossum come to our front door regularly. Then one night she showed up with all her babies!
Have a great weekend!

Frankie does look a bit like Frankenstein. Are they related?
I loved reading abut the wildlife that you showed us. I don't think I've ever seen an opossum or a wild turkey for that matter.
Have a lovely weekend,
Lisca

Frankie is very fun and yes, he's reaching for some champers. Perhaps the turkeys were just finished eating when you opened the door so they lined up to move on their way. I hope you weren't too chilly this morning.

Gosh you have the makings of a zoo there. Great page, but I wouldn't like to meet him on a dark night. Hugs Wendy Have a great weekend.

I love that you used Target stickers to add to the art and yes, yes, I do see him reaching for the glass. Really well done.

That little snout on your back deck. And your outdoor living space is sooooo sooooo nice.

Love that!

First off I love your Frankenstein. He is fabulous. The Guinea hen is beautiful. I have used a lot of Guinea hen feathers in my art. Yep, I have opossum in my yard too. I think they are amazing and their fur is so soft. As for the Turkeys, they are my spirit bird and I have always wanted to live in an area where they came into my yard. They are very good luck so you should be having some soon. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a wonderful weekend.

How sweet that the guinea hen followed you! We have an opossum who comes to our backyard every evening - he's after Kibeau's food - and I don't mind him/her at all. They are beneficial for the garden since they dine on snails and slugs, and of course they're excellent at tick control as you mention.

I've never seen a guinea hen. He's gorgeous. Yes, that's how I felt about Hoagie the groundhog. I hope you find a home -- just not under my house!

Your place is amazing, with all the wildlife. I also agree, that guinea chickens are beautiful, but quirky looking. Your clever comparison to your eerie Frankenstein made me laugh. Thanks for visiting my blog!

I am not a fan of the guinea's. Our neighbors have them and they are noisy! We were not a fan of opossum either when we had horses as a parasite commonly found on them caused EPM disorder in horses. I am a fan of the turkeys however!

Good use of the stickers. It must be lovely to be so close to nature.

Guinea fowl are neat to look at, and also good to eat. It’s a domestic bird, not wild, in the places I’ve seen them (not counting seeing them in the food shops where I bought them to be cooked.

Frankie is certainly enjoying some spirits! LOL Love the wonderful texture in your background too! Love your photos. Sometimes we see those hens along the side of the roads over here. We saw some turkeys running around this weekend actually.

Hi Erika, I love Frankie - I was wondering what he was, I thought maybe what a great stamp but I see he is a sticker! I love your idea of giving him some champers for his thirst. I don't think we have either guinea hens or wild turkeys here, we are more about pheasants and grouse. I did recognise the possum/opossum as we had them around the house in Oz. Thanks for joining in with my theme this month, elle xx
