Hi everyone. Happy Halloween to you. It's also Friday, and time for Nicole's Friday Face Off and Gillena's Friday Lunch Break.
I haven't had much time to work on my self-portrait this week, so hopefully I can share one next week. But since it is Halloween and time for trick or treating, I can offer you some no calorie, healthy digital candy for stopping by my blog. 👻
You have a choice between some mini peanut butter cups and some assorted Trader Joe's candy bars. (These Trader Joe's mini-knock off 3 Musketeer, Milky Way, Snickers and Twixt bars are far better than the originals. I won't tell you that we've bought a few bags in the past few weeks either. 😉😈)
And the candy bowl has a face too.
A couple of Sundays ago I went to a Witch's Fair with a couple of friends. It was mostly a big crafts fair and an area where you could get your fortune told. I enjoyed walking around and seeing people dressed up, and boy, was it crowded. Of course it was a gorgeous Sunday, so I don't blame people for being out.
One of the craft booths had a deck of tarot cards and then a couple of booklets you could go through to explain what card you pulled on the deck. It was kind of scary how the cards my friends and I pulled fit us. My friend Dee pulled a card about feeling stuck in a bad situation. Just that morning she was telling us how her daughter was going through a bad relationship break up. And my friend Deb pulled one about a Greek god and how it meant she could find the power inside herself. Deb's Grandparent's are from Greece and the card suggested she needs to go back to Greece to re-energize herself. (She's one of the friends I traveled to Greece with in 2024.)
And here's my card and the book reading that went with it.
I don't have monetary wealth, but I have been thinking a lot about doing some cleaning out and donating items, expanding my wildlife garden area and even how to give back in other ways, now that my lake job is done with for the year. And of course with my husband semi-retiring in January (we'll see how long he wants to work part time before he actually retires completely), we've been talking a lot about money here and there over the past several months. 😏
I do know that cards can be interpreted in many ways, but it was just a fun (and free) thing to do. I enjoyed walking around, checking out the people dressed up as witches and wizards, and getting some craft making ideas.
One of those craft making ideas was making a little witch hat (like you see in this last photo) for my Halloween tree.
I need to remember to get some lights for it some year.😏 Plus you can see some faces in this photo too.
Finally I'll leave you with the Trader Joe's bouquet of flowers my husband gave me for our anniversary a couple weeks back. They are just about gone, but I think they make a great Halloween bouquet/decoration.
Have a great Friday and start to your weekend.

You're well-equipped with candy in that Halloween pot, and the tarot card, etc. The faded birthday bouquet goes perfectly with it... haha
Happy Halloween and happy weekend, hugs Elke
...Erika, I love your Halloweent ree!
“Expanding my wildlife garden” really caught my attention, Erika. I hope this will get priority in your plans for the future and I will look forward to seeing its progress in the years to come. All the best - David
Scary Tarot cards!
I like your little Halloween tree.
Thanks for the calorie-free virtual sweets. Just the ticket.
Have a great weekend,
Lisca
I love your decorations.
I love every photo -- and that Tarot sounds like a really fun activity! Love the cat pot and your tree!

Happy Halloween, love those hats.
I have a smaller cat bowl similar to yours. Mine isn't wearing a hat. The tarot card readings sound like lots of fun. I love your Halloween tree and your Morticia bouquet is perfect for Halloween. Enjoy the holiday!
I'd have to go with the 3 Muskateers! I love all your spooky decor!
Happy Halloween! 🎃💀👻

I wish my town would hold something like this. Oh what am I thinking. My town is not that forward thinking. LOL That is actually a very good card to pull. Give and receive. I always give no matter what, I don't expect anything in return but goodness always comes back to me. So those items you want to donate do. I give to the women's Shelter. They always need things. Sorry going off track here. I so love your candy holder. Very nice. Knitted witches hat, so cool. Nothing says Christmas more than Halloween ornaments. LOL The flowers are lovely. Thank you for joining FFO and have a fun filled Halloween and nice weekend.
Happy Halloween!
Cute witch hats! Maybe I'll make one for myself next year! :-) Happy Halloween!
Sounds like a fun day and I'm digging those witches hats. Also, I WISH we had a TJ's close by. Such a fun store. Happy Halloween and Boogie Boogie.
Oh wow I love your candy bowl! We have our annual "Scenic Drive" with lots and lots of vendors and craft booths the first two weekends in October. I really love your Halloween tree and pretty flowers! Happy Halloween!
I do like those hats.
Happy Halloween.
All the best Jan
PS Good wishes too for the new month of November.
Happy Halloween, Erika! What lovely flowers your husband gave you for your anniversary, and now they make a perfect Halloween bouquet. I haven't seen this particular Tarot deck. It looks like a fun one. I'm still unpacking from our renovation. I'm trying to eliminate as I go. I managed to donate 10 books to the library last week, and I'm already regretting parting with several of the books. 😂😂😂 Not a good sign. Your Halloween tree is adorable. Wishing you a great week! ❤️
Erika, belated Happy 🥂Anniversary wishes to you and Dave and hope you had a nice celebration. The tarot card readings sounded uncannily eerie, perfect for this time of year.
I like the collection of witches hats.
I love that cat candy dispenser. The fair sounded like fun. Belated Happy Halloween!
Your "expanding the wildlife garden" idea is a great one. Over the years my garden has turned into a wildlife habitat, and I don't even live as rural as you are. There is so much going on, from the creatures living in the soil to tiny insects to birds to mammals like foxes. It is truly so worth it, and it's not only that you are giving something, you also receive a lot back. I'm rooting for you!
I learned just yesterday that German Aldi owns Trader Joe's and has for a long time. That surprised me! Have you ever eaten or heard of Siete' Foods (tortillas, chips, salsas - all grain free and gluten free)? Ok, my classmate in my junior high class (the enriched and accelerated prison class I was in 3rd-8th, lol), Aida Campos Garza, she created grain-free products in her home for her daughter who couldn't eat authentic Mexican foods because of her allergies. And in 2014, the family of 7 launched their company (Siete means 7 in Spanish). TEN YEARS LATER in 2014, they sold it to Pepsico for 1.2 BILLION DOLLARS. My little junior high friend!!!! Anyway, Trader Joe's gave them their first grocery store contract. <3 I'm so happy and proud of her!
I think I see a hat in your future, those are cool. And I love your little boo tree, too. Yes, those flowers are in the perfect condition! xoxo
