Sunday

Hi everyone. Happy weekend. I hope you had a super week. I'm still holding down the fort because of my husband's recent back issues. Luckily last week I had a couple of planned outings with friends which helped keep my spirits up because holding down the fort and seeing the hubby so uncomfortable can be draining.

The other good thing last week was that I finally got my art table cleaned off.  I made some art time too. ❤ ❤❤ Here's my clean table which no longer looks so clean.  Good thing I took a photo when I did. 😏 You can see all clutter I have in my art space too in the background.  And the foreground. I'm organized though, which is partly why you see so much clutter because I like to bin things up by themes, and that creates more bins which then fill up the small spare room I use.  Although I'm not a hoarder, when you doing mixed media and also collage you tend to collect a lot of "stuff" over 30 years. It seems every year I do some cleaning out, and I’m sure I’ll do some more this year too.

I'm linking up this post to Nicole's Sunday in the Art Room.   I'm also linking  up to Gillena's Sunday Smiles.  I  also want to share another journal page for my "What's Up?" challenge at Art Journal Journey. If you aren't certain what I mean by What's Up?", you can either journal about something that is literally up, or you can answer the question someone might ask you, "What's Up?". For my page today I went with something that's literally  up, the sun in the sky.

I like my page, but it's not exactly what I hoped it would be. That's OK, because part of the fun  making art is seeing where you end up with an idea. I'm also trying to do more collage this year, so the cloudy sky is various bits of collaged scrap paper and also scrap painted deli wrap paper. The sun in the middle is stamped. She is then inked and colored with markers and also lightly colored with some gold acrylic glaze.

Afterwards I used some light grey glaze over the entire collages part of the page to try to pull it together and make it look a bit cloudier.

I like this quote which is what made me think of making this page. I actually have another idea of how to work with this quote about the sun and the clouds, so you might be seeing something with this quote  again.

That's all for me this week. Wishing you a great rest of your weekend and start to the new week.

I´m so with you, Erika. Ingo was suffering so often and so badly, here or when I drove him to hospital and visited every day. And I, myself, super-healthy...
Big hugs and wishes all is better very soon.
My table STILL waits!
Great sun page - here grey and snow, sun is hiding.
I have a "but"!
In German the sun is female and yours looks female. The moon is male in German.
I learned in English the sun is male, the moon female. Can you explain. Le soleil, la lune, the same as yours in French, yet the sun is always sketched kinda female to me.
Aw, well - either way, let´s hope the sun comes our here, too (glad you have the word "the"), hugs and to a great day.

Cleaning up and reorganizing can be either frustrating or satisfying - maybe a littleof both! All the best - David

I like your page too, but I understand exactly what you mean when you say it wasn't what you envisioned. We've all had projects like that -- they turn out well but it wasn't what we planned! I'm glad you have had some friend time. Caregiving is draining, no matter how much you love the person. Once I get Christmas down I am tackling my art area. Part of this is necessity -- I have to find the radiator! And part is a desire to just get rid of supplies I'll never use. Hopefully to a good home.

I like your page especially the sun face. I have to tidy up my desk, too, to make space to work on tomorrow's journaling class. I laughed how you said mixed media and the detritus that accumulates makes one look like a hoarder. So true. Drying out today
