Hi everyone. Happy mid-week to you. Today I have an art post.
Let me start with this tag I made for Brenda's Love and Romance challenge over at Tag Along (and ATC's). I really like how this tag came out. It has me thinking of spring, and since the weather has been a bit warmer lately, I guess I am already thinking of the next season. 😏
I started with a scrap of thin white cardboard that came in some Christmas gift. It was just the right size for a tag so I saved it. I started by inking the paper with blue Archival ink, and then I used a bit of pink-purple Archival on the edges. I then stamped the butterfly over the background. The butterfly comes from a Stampendous set.
I took a TH frame and added a bit of pink paper to the open center. I added some light pink (although I couldn't get the color right in the photo no matter what I tried) tickets from 49 and Market. Then I stamped, colored and fussy cut the little butterfly from the same Stampendous set as the background butterflies. To finish my tag I used a Sara Naumann stamp set from Paper Artsy. I stamped the heart (although I only inked part of that image) and also the love word.
I also made a pocket from an envelope to hold my tag in one of my journals. It looks better in person than it does in a photograph. I think it's a bit busy, but if I could get rid of a couple of red clear doily images it might be better. 😅
Sometimes my desire to clean things off my work table takes over the desire for some not so cluttered design. 😏 You may see this envelope again. I've been busy reworking some older art lately.
I'm not linking that pocket up to Art Journal Journey because I'm not sure it's really a journal page, but I am linking the next page to my "What's Up?" challenge.
I had this balloon sticker which I liked and thought was interesting, so I decided to make a balloon page. I started by inking a my page with my blue Archival ink pad. Then I stamped the 3 smaller balloons. They are part of an older set from the now defunct Flourishes clear stamps. I colored them in. Then I added my big balloon sticker. After that I painted the clouds with some white paint, and then once that paint dried I took a Stabilo watercolor pencil and outlined them. With a wet brush I smudged the black watercolor pencil.
I used some watercolor paint and added the darker blue streaks to give my background some depth. Finally I cut out the 3 faces from some old TH photo booth pieces that were in my stash. I added them to my page. I decided not to add a quote to this page, which makes it look a bit unfinished, but still, I don't think it really needs a quote. And if I decide it needs a quote later, I can add one then.
OK, that's enough chatter for me. Have a great rest of your day.

I like those balloon stickers! The love tag looks pretty too.
To love - a beautiful tag!!!
Oh, is that a cousin of Henry on the brown balloon?
From the ground I would watch - enter such a "thing" - never ever. I´m already sick thinking of entering planes...
Alas, what can we do to visit far away places ;-) Have a great Wednesday, hugs
...how did your get to midweek so quickly?
Ohhhh, I love a pocket!
I loved your art today Erika hugs
How do you come up with creativity to even design these things? Great job!
These colors are so happy. We need that these days!
You made two beautiful collages, dear Erika.
Warmest regards to you.
Love, butterflies and for some reason the balloons with the people looking on reminded me instantly of Around the world in 80 days. LOL Love then all.
Fun, beautiful artwork!
On a side note, this Winter has been unpleasant in many ways: freezing rain, bitter cold, snow... Is it Spring yet? And how are your bees doing this Winter? I hope it hasn't been too cold for them.
Dear Erika – oh, really, it's gotten warmer where you are? We've had a real winter here recently. I can certainly understand why you've been longing for spring – and I find your butterfly tag delightful. Your page with the nostalgic balloons appeals to me even more – perhaps because it reminds me of travel, perhaps also because it makes me think of a song lyric that goes "Über den Wolken, muss die Freiheit wohl grenzenlos sein". ("Above the clouds, freedom must surely be boundless")
Warm winter greetings ❄️☃️ and hugs, Traude

Lovely
Always good to add stuff to pages after the fact. I hd an art journaling teacher once back when it was first a thing. She had us do all the backgrounds first, using mixed media techniques. Then we were supposed to put it on the shelf for awhile and it becomes a brand new journal with no blank (white) pages, ready to create in. It was a good way to do it. I look at old pages and add a thing or two myself. xox
I'm with you on thinking ahead to Spring Erika, I dislike Winter with a passion.
Your entry to Tag-Along (and ATC's) did indeed turn out beautifully, really like the colour palette, it has a lovely romantic feel. Equally pretty is the pocket envelope. Many thanks for joining us.

Today I was also thinking about spring and dreaming about it, and you've created a wonderful journal page. You have so many great ideas, and I love it! Every single page is lovely!
It's also 7 degrees here today.
Have a good days, hugs Elke
I love your tag and its progress to a page. Your air balloons are great, it's a wonderful experience to go up in one (30 years ago for my 50th birthday. I wish Sping was on the way as well. Hugs Wendy
I love your art, Erika. Great project for your theme at AJJ!
