Small Things

 Hi everyone. It's time for another new challenge at Try It On Tuesday.

Thank you Tracey from New Beginnings...Creating in My Corner for being the guest designer for our fantasy challenge. And let me say a  big thank you to everyone who joined our last challenge as well.

This time at TIOT we've got a challenge theme that can be taken a lot of ways. This time we're looking for

SMALL THINGS

I made a set of ATC's because they are smaller than most journal pages, and the theme I went with was small things with a big impact.

I think you can get where I'm coming from with these 3 ATC's. 

    I inked each card by rubbing an ink pad over it, and I also outlined the edges with a different colored ink pad. The stamps on each card come from an old Hero Arts Set that had 20 small image stamps. The only image not from that set is the baby bottle, and that is an old Cheery Lynn design die cut.

     The rings are stamped, colored with metallic markers and then  I used a bit of glitter on the stone. The drinks glass have glitter glue in the drink and then a bit of glossy accents to make the glass, and the bottle had some white glitter glue in it (which didn't stay white with my ink 😕), and then some glossy accents over that. I colored and outlined the nipple part of the bottle.

The words come from some various rubber stamps. The rings have the "title of the set" stamp on them which is why that one is stamped on white paper and not directly on the card.

T Stands for a Walk in the Park

 Happy T day everyone.  

I was thrilled  because my ATC for the T Day swap arrived from across the pond today.  I received mine from Chris, who you might know as Pearshapedcrafting. Here's the wonderful  ATC she made.

It's a proper British Tea. 

And Chris also included this fun envelope.

And a few other bits and pieces were included. I love this happy mail. Thanks so much Chris. I'm so glad it arrived today so I could include it here for T.

July has been very wet here in New Hampshire, and last week we had a couple of actual sunny days with no rain. Hurrah. We actually broke the record for the wettest July since they started recording the weather, and it has been the 4th wettest of any month on record (since they started collecting weather data too.) Anyhow, since it was a nice day my walking friend and I headed out to check out to a new walking place.

We went to Stratham Park in Stratham, New Hampshire. I'd driven by it for years and just thought it was a town park with some sports fields and an area for events, but I learned it has miles of walking trails up behind that area. Except for one area where Stratham Hill is, most of the trails are relatively flat too. 

And even better, no charges for parking too.

My only complaint is that even though you can pick up a trail map, most of the trails are poorly marked, and we had a hard time figuring out which trail we were actually on. Luckily they all loop around back to the parking lot.

On Stratham Hill there was this fire tower.

You could climb all the way up this fire tower, which doesn't look very tall here.  It was tall however. I'm not a big fan of heights that aren't enclosed, so I went up just a few levels. The view was good from there, so I bet it was fantastic from the top.

This cool metal marker with directions and distances was on a pedestal near the fire tower. It said 1881 on the pedestal it sat on, which I believe is probably when this was put up originally, just from what some of the names were.   I like how it also lists the elevations of other hills and mountains. 

And there was also a historical marker  along one trail that was interesting.

And finally I was excited to see these Indian Pipes. They are white plants that are parasitic, and the pipe bowl at the top is the part of the flower. I don't see these very often, but my Dad always use to point them out, so it was a nice way to think about him.

When we finished our walk it was after noon, and we were both hungry, so we headed into Portsmouth to go get some lunch. I had a salad which I wolfed down but forgot to photograph.

I liked the label on this can too. 

I love the brown dogs at the bottom.They wrapped right around the label.

The seal behind the dog on this label is a symbol of this local brewing company. It is named after one of the Islands at the Isles of Shoals that I showed you last week.

The day was a fun little adventure.  I hope your T day is fun little adventure too.

T Stands for 8 Years (And Counting)

 Hi everyone. Happy almost middle of July. Boy this month is going soooo fast. 

And happy T day too. Today is the 8th anniversary of T, which is very exciting. Happy 8th year of hosting Elizabeth, and of course, thank you for doing this!

 I will raise a glass (or can in this instance) to T day and all your ladies who make it special. I know not everyone is a beer drinker, but even if you don't like beer this label with the great horned owl is pretty outstanding. 

And I was surprised to read on the back that it is not because of an owl that this beer got its name, but because of a fly that fly fishing people use.

We have only one restaurant in our town, which is part of a small (3 restaurant) local chain. At the main restaurant they have started brewing beer, and this is one of their beers. It is called Northwoods Beer because the brewery is located in Northwood, New Hampshire. This was our first try, and it was pretty good.

I am sitting on the only really sunny storm/rain free day (this past Saturday) we've had in over a week on my MIL's dock enjoying this beer. 

Last week  and the start of this week, we seemed to have had  a lot of humidity and  are also still having a lot of rain. The rain was  needed so no complaints, but boy has the weather thrown me out of my walking routine. 

With a some heavy rain last Friday, I did make some sourdough English muffins.

If you would like one with butter with your T day drink, they are very yummy. I haven't been much in a bread baking mood, but a cool dark day motivated me. I've made these several times before, and here's the recipe if you are interested: Sourdough English Muffins.

The rain did make for some wonderful art days too.

I added my asterick to make an ATC for this T day anniversary, and when I was making mine, I got on a roll and made a bunch of them. Now I must say my ATC's this year are more random sized and not true ATC size. I'm not against doing the standard size (which is 2.5x3.5) but sometimes you just have to break rules. Smile. Sorry  in advance if you are to receive mine and have an ATC binder you try to store them in. My sort of ATC's are still small and rectangular and could be playing card size. I just wasn't much in the mood to measure them.

Although I am not going to share what I made to send, I thought I would share a few of the others with you.

I call these  the princess ones.

These great girls are bringing you flowers and love for this 8th anniversary.
