Busy Weekend

This is what I plan to do starting tomorrow-
even though I think it's going to rain.
So I may not be lounging by the ocean,
but here at home
I am going to relax.
Catch up on my SEWN online class...
play in the studio...
pick up the house after a crazy holiday weekend.
Will show you some photos another day.
Image above is from Stampendous, and it does look
absolutely relaxing!
Flip flips are a Spellbinders die cut and the flowers I stamped on them are from Hero Arts.
Another simple card.
I squeezed in a few last week
(got to start the stash to send to my college daughter in the fall)
between journaling, starting my travel journal for next weeks vacation, and starting a few small painting I want to do.
Die cut of the glass is from memory Box.
So today we are off fishing.
Thanks for visiting and
enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Blogger's Challenge- Wedding or Anniversary

Here's a card I made for a co-worker's wedding shower just last week.
Haven't posted it yet.
Her favorite thing to say is Best thing ever so I used this Paper Smooches stamp-
from their Slang Gang set.
The die cuts are from Memory Box and Sizzix (little flowers only).
The tree layer is slightly altered- I removed part of the branch because I thought it looked better.
For the falling flowers I was thinking of how sometimes at weddings they throw rose petals.
Anyhow, this friend is getting married in Connecticut tomorrow and I hope they aren't getting the grey and wet weather we are suppose to have, just more of the same.
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

Top of the Morning to You.
Time to show off your green.
This is the world's simplest card. I attached one of those foam cut-outs that you can buy packets of at places like Michael's. I had this small packet of shamrocks from a scrap booking project I did years ago when we went to Ireland. Then I stamped the words- from a Flourishes set, and finally I attached a thin piece of green ribbon.
Inside is an Irish blessing stamped image as from Flourishes- same set as the front words.
Then, what's an Irish holiday without silly leprechaun.
Images are all from Paper Smooches. I die cut the oval (Tim Holtz, Sizzix) and the white frame (Memory Box).
And I do wish you a magical day.

Blogger's Challenge

So this week's Blogger's Challenge is Cut it Out. So I did that by first die cutting the background and the bubblely frame for that. Both of those are Memory Box dies. The background die cut was done on plain white paper and then I colored it using box Dylusions spray ink and and some green ink on a Hero Arts polka dot stamp.
The froggie is an image from Rubber Moon. He was stamped twice, once directly on the card and then once on white paper. I colored the one on the white paper and cut it out. When I did this I cut off the head. (Sounds gruesome!) I did that so I could glue the body flat and then use a foam pop up stickie so the head would be a bit higher than the rest of the body. I attached all of these into the uncolored stamped image directly on the card.
The flowers are also a Memory Box die- only I trimmed away a few flowers and added those after using some Distress stain to color them.
I trimmed down the outside of the card to mimic the shape of my background cut out. Then I added some Viva paint pen dots on the bubblely frame and also on the center of the flowers. Finally I added the little Hero Arts hello stamp.
Here's the die cuts I used.

Happy Valentine's Day

It is a day of love. I'll be honest, not a big Valentine's Day person. I love love. I love to use hearts, but I am thinking this is more of a greeting card campaign to sell things. Or florist or candy maker, but what ever, it is a day of LOVE.

This top photo is the finished card; the one below is the semi-finished card.
I started with a white card base. I stamped the word image (Technique Tuesday) and glues that down. Then I added the die cut hanging hearts, added some Viva paint pen on the hearts and then added the Stickles. I forgot to mention, I also sprayed the card with some red Dylusions. Then I added some little red ribbons on the die cuts.
Finally, I added the earth-a Postmodern stamped image which I colored and cut out and added. I also added one to the back so that when you open the card you don't get that big white circle with all the ink blobs that leaked through staring at you.
Looking at the 2 images side by side, I think added the Stickles and the earth really finished off the card.
Here's another card I made with this icky colored background. I drew the circles and added the pink paint and then doodled in the hearts.
Then I layered the paper tape and finally added this die cut from Tim Holtz.
I colored the wording red and then added some red sparkle embossing powder to finish off the card-make those words stand out.
And one more love themed card.
This one has a slightly different take- but still talks about love. The mittens and saying are from Unity's stamp of the week series. The design at the bottom of the card is from Technique Tuesday. But before anything else went on the card I embossed in silver glitter the snowflakes in the background using an older Hero Arts background image.
I also put some Viva paint pen on the mittens to make them pop up a big and look a little more real mitten fuzzy. Mittens should be warm and fuzzy I think.
I like the fact that this card does not have any hearts on it but is still full of love!
Since I have over loaded you with these cards, I will sign off.
Wishing you lots of love in any way, shape or form.
Happy Valentine's Day!
