Big Red Blooms

I need to take a bunch of photos of my recent art, but I did manage to get some photos of this spread, which I particularly like- in all ways- color, images, layout.

Here's how this started, as a couple of gelli prints in my journal.

Then it needed some Dylusion's spray ink and a Prima stencil.

Really like how this stencil works.

These words are an old set from Hero Arts. They are lots of fun. And the lizards- one of my most used all time favorite stamps from Magenta.

The red flowers are another favorite and often used stamp from Stampington. Although the image does not have polka dots when I stamped it it picked up some of the background stencils. Love that.

Cool colors and even a bit of paint texture too.

And it so springy-like the weather we've been having lately.

Finally.  Before it rains at the end of the week.

Hope it stays so I can see some big red blooms in my garden.

Blooming

Flocks from my garden...just gorgeous.

And my azalea is blooming-I have this gorgeous orange plant that came from a little shoot at my parent's house but is now a full sized tree.

And my favorite, though I don't have any in my yard, Lilacs. Love them. They smell fantastic!

And here's another card from the archives...more buggy picnic fare. This card starts with red cardstock and this plaid yellow paper on it. The clock stamp (Time for Tea) is by Stampington, as is the teapot. The bird above the lock is a punch out, and I added a little red heart  stickee (Hero Arts) to the clock. The saying is from a Stampington stamp-its the one with the Queen on it, but I just cut out the saying. That went down then the teapot which I added some flowers too. The bees are from 2 different stamps, the little one is from All Night Media-one of my first stamps (a little set of bugs that I bought about 12-13 years ago when I started stamping) and I don't know offhand who made the bigger bee. And the postmark is from Autumn Leaves. I have a whole set of tea related stamps- just love them-seeing I'm not a coffee gal but a tea gal, and something about them is so wonderfully vintage in a homey kind of way that I just go nuts for them. I guess we all have stamps we tend to lean towards, tea, the seashore, clocks, travel are some that I tend to lean towards. What about you?

Have a great Monday-I am waiting for my hubby and daughter to leave for their Jet skiing fun so I can have some down and quiet time here at the house...its just plain hot and humid right now and cloudy, which keeps it cooler, and they're nerves and bossiness (the daughter's bossiness not the hubby's) is driving me nuts. But they'll be gone SOON.

Always Dark

Its been a rainy last few days, today is no exception to that, and its a dark morning, but a GREAT morning to sleep in which is where I'm at right now. Definately enjoyed that!!! Today I want to get in the studio soon too, as most of my week I either didn't make it in OR I've been working on cleaning it up a bit...pulling out the holiday stamp boxes off the top shelf...the change over PLUS I couldn't stand the mess. But today, I want some craft time!!!! (and some clean time too most likely!)

Here's the card I made Katie for her birthday...just something quick and easy...and these Stampington birthday people are HILARIOUS. The balloons are Hero Arts only I covered them with Stickles so you can't see the words and designs but the sparkles really make the card on a birthday.

So yesterday I was in Barnes and Nobles looking for and buying the new Nigella Larson cookbook, (Love her recipes-they're easy, tasty, varied and some unique) when I discovered the British publication Craft Stamper. That's a really good magazine...I've seen it on people's blogs but never checked it out for myself. I like how they teach you actual techniques more than some magazines do. (Of course I love most craft magazines equally...you could go broke buying them all).

This week I also receieved some stamps I bought off of Artistic Outpost during they're anniversary sale...got the new Wizard of Oz stamps...this is a childhood favorite of mine...plus the Peter Pan and the Christmas woods set that I've been wanting...now I need to find time to cut them out...but I LOVE the newest Wizard of Oz set a lot!!!
