Wow-it is Friday already! This week has flown. Its been an interesting week for me. Lots of little mini-adventures in day to day life.
So last Saturday when I met my visiting friend for lunch, I discovered this cool orange house.
It inspired me to start my next piece.
I don't know why, but I find this house really interesting.
My painting is a slightly different view from the photo.
Still have a lot of ideas for the rest of this piece. I am going to take some artistic license to finish it off. I've got a few little things to fix (the cream colored border on the right side of the house-its too fat now) on this piece before I start adding the other details.
In my art life, I really focused on this painting all week. I've spent a lot of time working on it. I'm not only having fun with it but I am learning a lot too.
But there were some other fun little adventures too.

We learned about goat and other ruminant digestion. This little guy named Rocco was a huge hit.
And he was awfully cute too.
And he was awfully cute too.
And I went with my kids in Asian Culture club for a Japanese lunch.
We had a lot of fun. It was the first time I'd been to a restaurant where they cook your food right in front of you.

I also got my car fixed (ugh the price tag), and I went to the dentist for a teeth cleaning.
Busy week.
Busy week.
And I told you earlier this week I had started this book, and it has only gotten better as I read more of it. If you have any interest in birds, you might really enjoy this. Its all about training a hawk the way you train a falcon. But it is also about loss and life too.
Linking this post to Paint Party Friday. Stop by and check out all the creative and talented people's latest art.
And thanks for stopping by my post too.
Have a great weekend.

Oh yeah, I can understand your fascination for this house. I'm curious, how the finished work will be -
Have a great weekend
The orange house is great, your painting of it is coming along nicely. You seem to have had a fun week with the little goat and the Japanese restaurant. I will see if I can get that book from Amazon! Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie
Oh, love the orange house. What a fascinating subject for a painting.
Looking forward to seeing more, it's coming along nicely, I like the way you have painted the path.
Interesting blog. Love the house too. Can't wait to see the painting finished. The goat, OMGosh, love it. I love birds, but not to train. Thanks for the visit. Blessings, Janet PPF
Hi Erika. I'm really loving that house as well. It's very interesting and I wonder who lives there? They really chose a great color. Love your work on it already. It makes me feel like painting/drawing it as well. You've been busy. Have a great day. I look forward to seeing the finished piece.
You sure did have a busy week! I am loving your rendition of the orange building and look forward to seeing the finished piece. I think goats are so sweet. Once in awhile we go to a Japanese restaurant where the cook is in the center surrounded by 8 seated patrons and it is not only such good food but it is a blast to watch!
I love to see a work in progress Erika, (who knows it could be because most of the time I'm posting unfinished work)
I think artistic license is what it's about. Let the creative juices flow... and see where they go.
Well it's not every day you see a goat in class!
Wow you have had a busy week.
I love those restaurants and remember having a fantastic night in a Japanese restaurant where they did tricks and were so proficient with the very sharp knives. By any chance did they chop and fling fruit for you to try and catch in your mouth? Not the usual way I eat when out... like a seal but it was fun.
Oh I've heard an interview on the radio with the author of that book and thought it sounded interesting. Note to self to read it.
Have a restful weekend (you deserve it) and Happy PPF to you

That is a cool orange house! You're doing a great job recreating it. The colors are perfect.
My goodness, what a week! The goat is amazing! And I really, really like where you house painting is going. Love to see the process!
Great orange house (both your painting and the real thing). Sounds like a fun painting project.
I like the interesting perspective of the house in your piece, as well as the bold color palette you're working with. Hibachi grills can be a lot of fun, and the food is always great. Thanks for your earlier visit and happy PPF!
A cool orange find indeed
Thanks for dropping in to view mine Erika
