This week I started a couple of new paintings. I used a pencil to sketch on the canvas and then started adding colors.
Lots of things to do before these get finished. But that's the fun part of painting.
Seeing where a piece takes you. Many authors say the story writes itself and they simply tell it, not control where it goes. They come up with a character and the character runs away with the story.
I think art is like that too. Sometimes I feel like I am just the hands that let it out. When I try to control the piece too much it never comes out anything like I want it to be and lots of times I just don't like it. So I just let it go where it wants to go.
Sometimes even then I still don't like what it is.
Sometimes even then I still don't like what it is.
Creativity and our brains are just such interesting things.
But anyhow, we have a few showers and some clouds today. Not sure what's on my agenda for the day yet, although tonight I have a graduation party to go to. Should be fun. And not the usual thing to do either. A little wild life for me on a Saturday night.
Spring is really blossoming here. Its lilac love time!
My absolute favorite flower, lilacs, are starting too bloom. Wish these flowers would bloom a lot longer than just a couple of weeks in the spring. The good news is the lilac is our state flower so you see them all over...which is great when you love them so much! Right?
More to show you another day. Thanks for visiting and enjoy your weekend.

Lovely work, I love watching things evolve and develop, too - it's often a surprise how a painting is when it's done! Love your lilac. Cold and wet here today, too. Hugs, Valerie
Faboulus still life in progress! Your lilac is beautiful!
