So the poor girl on this page has rather a large nose and lips, doesn't she? Actually her eyes were rather buggy at first but I managed to fix those. But even so, I rather like how she came out. Drawing a face with a pencil, drawing stump and eraser is so much easier than making one with paint, even if you first sketch the face with a pencil.
So this page started with a Brushos background, that I then wanted to tone down a bit so I used a very wet brush with some white paint. Then I die cut the super sized flowers (Tim Holtz, Sizzix) and used the waste paper (that I cut the flowers from) as a stencil and traced the flower 3 times. I painted them, and also used a Stabilo pencil to decorate. I stamped the letter background saying (Flourishes) several times, and also stamped the ribbon wrapped letter pile (from the same Flourishes set) on a separate piece of white paper which I then fuzzy cut. I painted the border and then made my girl's face.
Here's a couple of close ups.
So I am linking today's page to Art Journal Journey, hosted by Valerie and Susi. This month's theme is mail and postage and I am loving all the clever takes on it. You should really stop by and check it out.
So I am planning on a low key day today. After the busy July 4th weekend I need to quiet home day! I had some ideas for a for more pages to link up to Art Journal Journey this month and I'm hoping to maybe do a little sewing of some hand dyed fabric too. Whatever I do I am looking forward to a day at home. Summer mind-set has really hit me now.
Hope your week starts off in a good way and thanks for visiting my blog.
