Hi from dreary New Hampshire everyone. We have some rain moving in today. It might even be around long enough to wash out some of the long Memorial Day holiday weekend ahead. But we shall see.
So today I have another page from my drawing journal. There are all kind of calendar pages in the front I won't be using so I decided to make some journal pages out of them. My first one is kind of grungy, so it works for Gill's challenge at Art Journal Journey.
I thought the big bug stamped image was so appropriate for all the bugs out at my house right now. We are in black fly and mosquito season. The black flies will be gone in another week, and the mosquitoes will drop off so we only get them at night, but seems like as soon as we get into May we get hordes of them all day also. Between hearing their high pitch call and being attacked by hundreds of little black flies, you can barely go outside. UGH!!!! Its one of the reasons I have a screen porch.
So many of you have been asking for an update on my husband and not just me. Sorry about that. I always think of this blog as kind of my space but of course I should mention him. :)
He is actually doing quite well. He came home from the hospital 20 pounds heavier than when he went in because they pump him full of fluid to keep the kidney working. He's lost about half of that and the kidney is working great. I think he is more energetic than me, mainly because he didn't lose an organ and is now got a working one. :) He definitely is having a hard time sitting still.
Not much else new here. A few of my students are coming to visit me later today which I am excited about. They are my seniors plus one of my former students who just finished her freshman year in college and who I have kept in touch with. I've never had students visit me at home before. Hopefully my husband won't embarrass me and tell them some silly story. :) LOL.
That's all for me. Thanks for visiting.

A great idea for the page ... that stamp is huge - super!
We have so many flies here right now as well-
Great to hear that hubby feels so good- isn't that fantastic?!
Have fun with your visitors! That's no wonder to hear that they like you so much to stay in contact - LOVELY... my daughter still is in contact with her beloved primary school teacher on facebook and as he has a music band he often invites his former students to his concerts - the whole class loved him... it was a wonderful start of 4 years with him into school life for the kids. There are not many of them but some teachers are born teachers and give sooo much! I bet you are such a teacher Erika!
Had a good taxidriver night and was able to prepare some art ahead for AJJ.
Our weather is similar to yours as it seems!
Hugs

Those bugs sound ghastly, good reason to stay home. Your journal page is great, what an appropriate idea. Glad you and your hubby are both doing well, keep it up! Enjoy being visited by your students, and if your hubby tell any silly stories be sure to tell us....Hugs, Valerie
One good thing about the rain, it keeps the May flies at bay. We have teeny little no-seeums with giant teeth. You can see swarms of black clouds gliding across the yard. The other bug that will be bad again this year are the Gypsy Moths chomping the leaves and falling out of the trees. As to your page, the word that comes to mind is EEEEEK! i don't like bugs. Glad to hear your hubby is doing well. So nice of your students to come to pay you a visit.
This page is wonderful Erika !! Really lovely! I wish you all things are well, and also, a very nice weekend. Big hugs,
Caty
Your beautiful grungy AJJ page had me laughing. I found several mosquitoes today when I was watering my veggie garden. I couldn't believe it. For some reason, I keep thinking it's way too early, but here it is almost June. June and I just got my one tomato plant planted.
How wonderful that the students are visiting you today. I bet they will be interested in your art space, too.
Thanks so much for the update on your husband. I was beginning to worry. SO glad it's good news and not rejection of the kidney, which I feared when you didn't mention him for so long.
So glad all went well with the surgeries!
Enjoy your visit. :)
ha ha I'm itching and scratching after reading about your bugs and mozzies - argh! sounds horrible :( Loved your AJJ page (thank you x) and just hope that bug wouldn't really be that size compared to the flowers :)
Oh that's great news about your hubbie and I hope you soon feel more energetic yourself as well.
Hope you had a nice time when your students visited you.
Have a great day and lovely weekend ..
Gill xx
Thanks for your wonderful comment about my abstract art. I need a LOT of practice, because some of it was CRAP. Here is a link to the wrap-up, if you are interested:

Wonderful page Erika!
I have been told that the surgery for the person giving up the kidney is harder than the one for the person getting the kid. So glad you both are doing well. What a story!

Such a pretty page, Erika. I am loving how the background is graph paper. It amazes me how something so simple can be so elegant and lovely. I always tend to go more towards the 'more is better' and it turns out to be overkill. Haha.
Hope your hubby starts to feel better. As I am a new follower I don't know all the details of his illness but I hope he is up and around again soon. :)

So glad to get a good report on your husband. The energy thing makes a lot of sense. Even when I went in for gall bladder surgery I gained weight after -- and I hadn't eaten. I think in addition to all the stuff they were giving him for his kidneys, the saline didn't help!
Love your fun page!
I like hoe you stamped the black bug onto a graph paper background. It gives it an even more grunge look. Adding those pink flowers made the page just come together!
I didn't realize mosquitoes were so bad up there. We get them all summer long here, but I'm not sure I've seen more than one this year. I slapped my hubby to get rid of that one -I did warn him first. I do hate the mosquitoes!
Health is something we tend to take too much for granted. I'm hoping you both see continuing and rapid progress towards recovery.
