Take a Breath and Go to Bed at 4:30

Happy weekend everyone.
The last 24 hours have been a bit crazy here. Today I needed to be back for my post-surgery check up at 9 AM, in Boston, which is 2 hours away.  But I will admit it felt good to get up and get moving, especially since my daughter did all the driving. :)  (Plus all looks good and I don't need to go back for 6 months!) Then her shopping habit took me to a few stores, which wore me out. When I got home I put on my pajamas and went to bed for a long nap.
But I was excited last evening (Thursday) that my friend who helps me run the National Honor Society club at school had the kids make me their service project. They collected over $100 among themselves and then my friend went shopping and brought me 3 big bags of easy to make food. But even better was she first made us dinner last night. Having a good meal and a little fun social time right in my own house was really a good mental boost.
I've done a lot of doodling in my drawing journal this past week. Here's a page. Not the most exciting of art and not all that great since my drawings are more like cartoons.
However, they may not be fantastic but they do help me build confidence in what I can draw.
Enjoy your weekend!

You drawings are fun. The little kidney made me laugh. Glad to see it's fully functional. A rainy Mother's Day didn't dampen you drawing spirit. So nice of the NHS kids and your friend to help out with the meals. Rest up and keep feeling better.

I LOVE how you did the journaling, reminds me of Dianne's Hobonichi Journal. Glad to hear you don't need to go back to the clinic again for 6 months, that's great, but continue taking it easy, having fun and resting. What a lovely surprise to get from the group at school, so thoughtful, enjoy! They must all have you in high regard to do something like that for you! Enjoy your weekend, hugs, Valerie

I can imagine that it was exhausting to go shopping after the health-check in the hospital! Crazy girl you! Wow - these are amazing kids and how nice that is - your friend even cooked for you !
Your sketchbook pages are super! It's a good chance to draw now and practice drawing! Good idea Erika!
Have a nice weekend and take care of you - best wishes for quick recovery for your hubby as well!
Here were two wonderful summerdays and today it's cold again with just 12° Celsius. But it's also o.k.- I don't care too much about the weather, just let my sun shine within all the time- at least try to let it shine!♥♥♥

Your pages are wonderful, so cheery and "the little kidney that could" made me smile! Glad you got the all clear at the doctors and it sounds like getting back to normal agrees with you. It seems that it's important to get plenty of rest and sleep too 😀. Your friend is so thoughtful organising food for you and making you that delicious meal, the perfect pick me up! Wishing you well and have a wonderful weekend too! J 😊

Hope you are having a lovely weekend relaxing Erika after your busy day out - that's great news that you don't have to go back for a while too.
Your journal page is fabulous and fun and I love it. ( have you seen those art journal books with nothing but peoples artwork in - I have 3 of the books and I can imagine yours being in them too - love your style).
oh that was a lovely surprise about the food and cooking the meal for you - how kind :)

Oh, I really like your doodle pages. They are loads of fun. And the good news on your check up is really bringing a smile to my face!

Look for a care package -- hopefully at the end of the week. Still have to find the right box and get to the post office!

Meanwhile, I'd say that the collection from the Honor Society and the gift is so spot on and extremely thoughtful. Obviously your kids really care about you and that's just terrific!
