Summer is back. This whole weekend has been beautiful. We were out and about all weekend enjoying these bonus days.
We did something different on Saturday. We went riding the rails. And we looked at some pretty country scenery.
The way the sun was coming in I got some reflections off the train window.
I'd forgotten how relaxing a train journey can be . You get on and you can watch the world go by out your window. People who are out wave as you go by. There's people who just love taking train photos and you see them as you go by too. The whole world slows down a little bit.
A particularly exciting part of the ride was going over a really high trestle.
Too bad the foliage wasn't more colorful. But the sky was blue and the day was warm. What more do you need?
For Saturday's train ride we went to Vermont. We live on the eastern side of New Hampshire, a couple of towns from the border of the state of Maine. When my daughter moved this summer she moved to the western side of the state, a couple of towns from the border with the state of Vermont. We decided to do something in her neck of the woods.
It was great to go exploring and great that she could join us.
What great adventures might have filled your weekend?

Himself and I took a train ride on an antique train several years ago. I think it was in Vermont. We went during the Summer, but the countryside was still beautiful. Maybe I should suggest a Fall Foliage train ride. Enjoy the sunshine!
My friend Sally just got back from the west coast. She and her friend who lives in MA met and, although they rented a car, they rode the train everywhere. He is a big train enthusiast, so riding the train was an excuse for him to see parts of the west coast he wouldn't see otherwise. Sally said she took lots of photos on the train, but wasn't sure any of them would turn out. I think yours were simply perfect, even with the various reflections. I loved that you felt the world slowed a bit because of the train ride. Sally said it was relaxing and lulling. I guess that's why they are still in existence, even though their real purpose and usefulness are from a bygone era.
LOVED this post!
No great adventures here, but thanks for sharing yours. Gorgeous scenery! :)
What a fun trip you had, riding on a train is fun. I always love looking out of the windows. Didn't get up to much here, had fever and a sore throat so stayed home and did lots of reading. Have a good week, hugs, Valerie
Vermont is rightly considered as a beautiful state! Wonderful photos of a wonderful area! Even the houses are much more solid than in other states- more comparable with the buliding style we have here in our region. Daughter and hubby look happy!♥♥♥
Great that you had the oppurtunity to enjoy this trip as family together!
Thank you for the photos! Nothing extremly exciting here this weekend - but a good one. Hubby finally finished the fence and our boy is recovering well and daugther had fun with her friends until Sunday in the morning --- so all are happy !
Good start into the new week Erika!

Oh, a train ride! What a treat! Thanks for sharing the photos of the scenic trip :)
This looks like a really special family trip. Old trains or any train journey sounds a great way to travel. The scenery looks lovely and it looks like you had perfect weather.

What wonderful photos! I would have had a great time on that trip -- except for the trestle. We went over a tall one in Canada and I think I nearly cut off circulation in Rick's hand!
