Hi everyone. Now that we are already at the 10th of January, I thought I would remind myself of all the 2018 adventures I've shared so far. (Sorry, just organizing my brain. You can skip below the photo if you'd like.)
I hope to drink lots of tea, dream about and wait (maybe impatiently) for spring, avoid the cold weather, read lots of books, enjoy beautiful winter days, use more white space in my art, have more arty time with friends along with enjoying quiet days at home. And of course I have one big adventure in April upcoming. Wow, that's a lot of excitement for sure.
So to record all those adventures I am once again keeping a calendar journal. My calendar is a little different this year. I tried a spiral bound version instead of a bound version. This one doesn't have as many blank pages as last year's calendar did, which may or may not work out. This year's calendar is also a coloring book, although many of the pages are just patterns so, like the page above, I can cover over to make a journal page, rather than coloring it if the spirit calls me.
Here's the view from last week which I kept the coloring page but spruced it up a little bit.
As I was searching through some old magazines I found all these "calendar" tags in an old FLOW issue. I used one and added this quote tag to my left hand page because it just fit perfectly!
And I added all the side tabs so I can flip through the book and find months a little easier.
Keeping my calendar journal is an arty adventure I hope I can complete again this year.
Hoping to see more of everyone's 2018 adventures as I am really enjoying them!
And Susie asked if I took any photos of my mom when I went down there recently. Here she is.
She was showing me a new nightgown she had gotten for Christmas.

Gorgeous photo of your Mom! She looks so happy. Great calendar pages, I like your journal. I saw some similar ones here, but the images were not as nice as yours. Have a fun day at school, keep warm! Hugs, Valerie
Beautiful calendar sites - and your mom looks really happy with her christmas gift! For this year I too have a calendar to color (coloring book) and I like it very much, it is so relaxing!
Your pages are so cheerful all - I think this calendar is perfect for you and your art! I love the first two week spreads a lot! The cacti are super and how clever to add the quote tag to it just to remember your thoughts later! I am thrilled about this wonderful mom photo- her smiling face is a delightful blessing! ♥♥♥
Thank you for the photo!
Another wonderful inspiration for the adventure theme at AJJ dear Erika !
I can imagine how exciting the big Japan adventure will be .... I can't wait too as I am sure I will get to see wonderful impressions then!

With the spiral binding I like how the pages lay flat. Will love to tag along while you go on your adventures. Your mom has a beautiful smile. She reminds me of my dear friend, Prissy. Temps are warming up. Have a great day
Your calendar journal is fantastic Erika, the winter scene looks beautiful.
I think you will be sharing many great pages with us as time goes by.
Its a lovely photo of your Mom, she looks so happy.

I am SO late. It's been such a busy day here. I've been working on my thursday tutorial and went to a lecture today on flu pandemic. You would have LOVED it, because the lecturer was a history professor with a minor in biology. He gave the lecture from the perspective of the biology of the flu gene. He explained the two types of flu were the mutating type (similar to, but not as fast as HIV) and the viral shift (two strains of infection). I think you would have enjoyed it.
I like your new calendar journal. I especially like how you outlined the image, too. It's a wonderful page. I also like the other page you shared. I look forward to seeing this calendar develop over time.
Your mother has such a sweet smile. She looked like she was really happy to see you, too.
Nearly forgot to tell you how much I appreciate this entry for Art Journal Journey.
What a beautiful photo of your mom. What a great smile -- very warm.
Well, your journal really does impress me, both with all you write (it really is a journal, not just a calendar) and your own work for it. I love the elegance and simplicity of the page with the fox. It's so calm.
Brilliant post! Love your planner! Working on mine while away! Great pic of your Mom!Chrisx
Your mom looks happy and cheerful, and that nightgown is pretty :) I like the concept of an illustrated journal but have never tried one. Appreciating the smaller adventures is something that enlivens my world :)
Your planner/journal pages are so inspiring Erika - the winter scene is beautiful.
Lovely happy photo of your mum.
