Hi everyone. Depending where you are and when you read this post it might be December 30th or maybe even the 31st.We are really counting down the final hours of 2018, aren't we?
My last page for this month's Art Journal Journey is the last full spread in my December Journal. It looks better in the book than it photographed I think, but I am saying goodbye to a year that was a good one for me.
I started by doing a wet paint stencil just to give the hint of music in blue. Then I added a piece of printed acetate, parts of a die cut clock in some sparkling blue paper, and then some stamped images.
I want to thank both Bleubeard and Elizabeth for this fun challenge this month at AJJ.
I'm not much of a New Years Eve revealer, and although I don't know for certain, I think it's going to be a low key evening for my husband and myself. They are saying some measurable snow for part of my state for New Years Eve , and right now where I live is right on the line between snow, ice and rain, so that may be even more reason not to be out and about. How about you? Do you celebrate?
Yesterday the temperatures were milder here so my husband and myself went out on a snowy owl hunt at one of the areas where they have been spotted this winter. We didn't have any luck except for seeing lots of seagulls, but we did get out for a little beach walk with the dogs.
The wind had picked up but it was still relatively mild (for late December that is)
And I know this info probably doesn't mean much except if you're familiar with this area, but I took these photos at Salisbury Beach State Preserve down in Salisbury, Massachusetts.
There was a lot of lobster traps washed up onto the beach.
And everytime I come here there are horses. This one wasn't so sure about the waves.
But one of my dogs had plenty to smell, her favorite thing.
The husband and I had a nice afternoon out. It was good to get outside and good to get down by the ocean again for a little bit.
Enjoy what's left of 2018.
And thanks, as always, for visiting.

Beautiful spread, Erika. The pictures are lovely. I'm very happy to view them from warmer clime, however. Hugs, Eileen
waue love your winter photos and your art ofcause. Be happy and have a great new Year. thanks for all comments and wisit in 2018 you always make me happy
A lovely page to end the year with Erika. The blue colours kind of reflect the cold weather we are having right now.
The photos from your trip to the beach looked lovely, there didn't seem to be many folk about, the horse did look a bit unsure about the waves.
Have a very Happy New Year however you celebrate its coming and I hope 2019 will be a happy and healthy year for you and the family.
Yvonne xx
A very beautiful end of year journal post Erika, fabulous blue and I love all that white space that surrounds. Wishing you a wonderful 2019, full of good health and happiness.
Happy New Year Hugs Tracey xx
I love everything about this final page for Art Journal Journey, Erika. You make the most beautiful pages, and this blue represents the cold of this winter entry. It's a great way to end the year and prepare to welcome 2019. Thanks for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey.
Your photos made me shiver. That water looked so very cold and the waves looked so powerful. Great beach shots, too.
Here's to a healthy, safe, and joyful new year and 2019 for you and your loved ones.
Gorgeous page to end the year, and I'm glad you had a fun trip, even though you didn't get to see snowy owls. But gulls were there, so that was something, and it's always great to walk along the beach. I'm sure the dogs were very happy, too. Enjoy your day, hugs, Valerie
A great end of year page Erika, love those stamps you added on the right! Great photos of your walk too! I have said it before, the area you live just looks so beautiful!
We will have a quiet new years eve at my brother in law. Edinburgh has a BIG Hogmanay(as it is called in Scottish) celebration, with fireworks, a torch procession and thousands of visitors. I am sure it is exciting, but I would hate to be part of it... way too crowded and too much drinking.
Anyway, happy New Year to you, - may it be happy, healthy and creative!
Thanks for the journey along your beach - very revealing and how lovely that it provided lots of washed up things for your dogs to smell at. Wonder what they would have said to you had they been able to talk. Imagine if they could and they could tell you where the exciting bits and pieces had washed up from, what their sea life had been, where they had set off from and where they had visited before landing on your beach. Oh dear, my imagination is running away with me now.
Back to your journal page. What a lovely way to finish off the year - a lovely page, perfect imagery and just the right amount of blue.
Happy New Year to you and yours - we will be staying in - just got past the partying stage now.
Hugs, Neet xx
Love all the clocks on your page as the year counts down. Salisbury Beach was an old haunt when I was in my 20s. I've never been there when it wasn't wall to wall people and I never saw horses there. The waves look amazing. I don't blame the horse that beach always has a rip current to it. Looks like a nice time was had by all especially the puppy. Just listened to the weather. Doesn't sound like a lot of snow is in the forecast for you. Maybe an inch or two. Down here, we're in for rain and I'm fine with that. Happy New Year to you!
It sounds like a wonderful afternoon out, Erika, and your photos are lovely. Oh, how nice to see open water, even if in the winter, and that's a beautiful photo with the horse. Love the dog's favorite thing photo too. Are those lobster traps? Not sure what it is but I love the colors. It looks like a very good day. (Love your new banner, too!)
Beautiful pages! Your have captured both the New Year and your trip to the beach with the sands of time stamp and blue and white colour scheme 😁. I so enjoyed walking along the beach with you and remembered how you look for the snowy owls every year when they are sighted 😁. Your temperatures are mild for this time of year, I seem to remember this time last year there was lots of snow. Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year, may it be filled with peace, love and happiness! J 😊 x
I love that blue, and the date/time on the page. I'm glad the year has been good to you and hope more "good times" are in store :) We'll celebrate but at home, cozy and in out of this rain.
I love seeing your ocean photos. Such ready access must be a delight!
That's a wonderful page - I love how the colour fades as the eye travels across. And thank you for sharing your trip to the beach... I love an empty windswept winter beach - there's something so wild and wonderful about it. Happy New Year!
