Butterflies

Hi everyone. Happy June! I can't believe how fast May went by and that it is already a new month.

Today we start a new challenge at Art Journal Journey Last month's language challenge was very interesting, so thank you Elle for hosting.  I learned so much about language!

Today I want to welcome Mia as our host for June.

Mia has chosen Butterflies as her challenge. This should be a fun challenge for the (hopefully) summer skies of June. And if you live south of the equator and summer has left you, then (hopefully) it will be a good memory of the summer that was or maybe even your dreams of the summer that will come.

My first page for the month is in my garden journal. I recently received a 6x6 inch packet of this beautiful  paper in a grab box of supplies I bought on National Scrapbooking Day. Since so many butterflies have these bright  almost jewel  toned colors, I used 3 sheets and die cut out some butterflies. They were also embossed, but unfortunately for most of them, you can't see the details in the photo.

After inking my background, I used matte medium to attach all these butterflies. Once the page was dry I stamped the "use your wings" quote randomly around the page.

At first I was thinking that this would be my background, and  that I would do  more with the page. As I looked at it however, I thought the butterflies were so pretty and colorful that I decided just to add the chipboard word that I had painted with black paint. The word was something else in the grab box like the paper.

Don't forget that only art journaling is accepted at Art Journal Journey. It can be in a journal, on a loose sheets of paper or a canvas, and it can also be digitally created. Cards, tags and other types of art are not accepted.

I hope to see your butterfly creations over at Art Journal Journey
Have a great new month and thanks for visiting my blog.

What an amazing first entry this month Erika. I love it. I love the background and I love the wonderful butterflies. I actually looked at that die yesterday, then decided against it. I didn't think I'd use it enough to justify the use. Thanks for sharing it using Mia's theme.

I love your page, Erika. The butterflies are gorgeous in all these adorable colours. I see that some of them are embossed. The quote is perfect. Thank you for joining my challenge at AJJ, my friend. Kisses.

That was a good move to leave the page as it is - it's beautiful! I love those colours and you have a great word to describe the butterflies! Hugs, Chrisx

Beautiful butterflies and a fabulous page for AJJ Erika, your page looks amazing as if they wanted to fly away and test out their wings.
Stay safe.

Love just the single word "Amazing" in the centre of all of those jewel like butterflies. Sat on the patio the other day I saw a lovely orange one, it was quite tiny and we tried to take a photo but it was too busy flitting its way across the grass.
I think you did right to just leave the page to the butterflies, what a lot of careful fussy cutting.
Hugs, Neet xx
