For the Man in Your Life

Hi everyone. The last 2 weeks once again flew by, and it is already time for a new challenge at Try It on Tuesday.

Thanks to all of you who joined us for our butterfly challenge.

This time we are celebrating the men in our lives, and we call our challenge "For the Man in Your Life".

My husband's  first love (maybe even over me-ha ha) is his boat, fishing and the ocean. He used to also dive quite a bit, but his ears don't do well with it anymore. I made my art journal page especially for him.

I started by painting blues waves across my page. I added some grungy details to the waves, as well as spraying blue and green ink to my page. I was trying to get the look and energy, as well as the sometimes chaos, of the northern ocean.

Once that was dry I used some blue paint and sponged it on around the middle of the page as a place to put my images.  I bought a set of AALL & Create ocean stamps awhile back. I stamped 3 of the images from that set onto white paper. Then I did some coloring and some rough fussy cutting. I then arranged them on my page. I stamped the old roughed up ship with black ink directly onto my page.

Once those were on the page, I went back and lightly sponged some more blue paint around them to make them more a part of the page rather than just being on the page.

I added some brass and silver charms. I used an anchor, the ship's wheel and the the dive fin; they give my page a bit more texture and contrast. I also added a gold metallic paper fish. Finally I used a very one of my ancient quote stamps that I thought worked perfectly here.

Be sure to check out the beautiful work from the other design team members for more inspiration.  There's so many ways you can go with this challenge, even if you don't have a special man in your life.

All kinds of art are accepted at TIOT, and you have 2 weeks to join in with this challenge.

Thanks for visiting.

What a fabulous journal page, great colours, and a wonderful sentiment. And great that it fits so well for your lovely husband! I was always at third place behind the dog and the cat! Hugs, Valerie

How sweet of you to create this page for the man in your life and his boat. This turned out great. I LOVE those stamps and I can see why you and Chris like them so much. The entire page is wonderful, dear.

What a terrific ocean page for “the man in your life” theme challenge. I like how everything is concentrated at the length of the center of the page surrounded by the vast ocean waters. It should be a fun reminiscent page for your man.

This is a clever quote. Sweet, too. And a great work - love the parrot!
An interesting theme.
Sadly my last "artwork with Henry" turned out so bad I´m not sure I might try again!!! Looked like done by a 3-year old!

But I sure have an idea about what my man (and I) love - maybe I just draw a glass of beer (kidding).

Always loved the nautical theme, it's something I always tend to go for when I need a masculine card. I bet your hubby has had great adventures diving for lost treasures. Hugs Tracey xx
