A Tag for Saturday

Hi everyone. Happy weekend to you!

I want to share a tag today for Valerie's Spots and/or Stripes challenge at Tag Tuesday.

Can you see the stripes I painted to make the background? I wasn't thrilled with the bright colors I picked so I used some black ink over them on much of the tag.  I think you can still see the stripes even through the black.

I added some old vellum number stickers and cut out the big six from a Gelli printed page. I also used some metallic die cuts I made from a die that's been in my stash for quite awhile. I ran the metallic side of the paper through the wrong way, but  I still like how the edges are embossed to outline the suits.

After I added the card suits, I thought of ladies getting dressed up and going to a casino to play some games. Do you think these 2  prefer blackjack, roulette, or maybe  they are poker players?  After adding the ladies,  I added some little foam card pieces. I also added a few foam  "spots" to the tag, and used a dotted line around the edge because the dotted line looked slightly more like stripes. I'm not sure what the big number 6 stands for, but perhaps they have so much fun this is their 6th visit.

My grandmother used to go with her senior group  on a bus trip to Atlantic City once a year. She'd figure out how much money she could afford to lose, and that's all she would gamble with. It wasn't a whole lot of money, but she had such a good time that she waited for every fall to go.  Now there are many more places with casinos, but back then, you either had to go to Vegas (Nevada) or Atlantic City (at least that's how I remember it.) My tag today is in memory of my Nana.

That's all for me. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Lovely tag and homage to your Nana. The 6 made me think of rolling boxcars. Your page also makes me think of my friend, Prissy. She loved to go to Foxwoods. She would do the same thing your nana did. Figure out how much she could lose and that was it. Prissy liked playing poker. Enjoy the cooler weather!

Hi Erika, your tag is gorgeous. Love the spots and stripes and the story of the gals going out to play at a casino. That's something I've never done! But I do like spider solitaire on the computer! Your Grandmother and her friends evidently enjoyed their little flutter, great! Have a wonderful weekend, hugs, Valerie

I see the stripes! I like the black fix -- adds texture and the image is more dramatic and visible.

I love this! I like the colors, the way the diamond element breaks the edge... This piece makes me smile and want to get out a deck of cards.

Awww, how sweet, in memory of your Nana. Well, the two ladies on the tag look more like church Bingo players to me, but maybe your Nana could have persuaded them to hop on that bus. XOX

Dear Erika,
I like your first love souvenir picture very much! If I were to capture my first love artistically, there wouldn't be a balloon, but water and ice cream - because I had a crush on a certain Michi (he was "already" 12, I a few years younger, maybe 9? but he had a crush on me too, perhaps because of my red hair?), and one day we went together to the local public pool (we both loved to swim) and bought ice cream there too. We found that we both preferred the same type of ice cream :-) I lost sight of him too and don't know how his life went on. And like you, I had a few falls in love after that - and last but not least came my husband, who is also my longtime crush and my best friend.
All the best,
Traude

I love Vegas but never gamble, I don't know how to, apart from the machines but I never go on them either. It's just the glitz I like and the happy atmosphere, maybe I am still a kid at heart. Wouldn't mind if I could play and win, might get addicted though. Gran had the right idea, take a certain amount and when it's gone, it's done!
Love the page, great background with the contrasting stripes and the whole concept behind the page.
Hugs, Neet xx
