Friday Faces

Hi everyone. Another week is zooming by, and we're almost at the first weekend of August.

Today I'm sharing a page for Chris's When We Were Young challenge at Art Journal Journey and also for Nicole's Friday Face Off. .

I actually made this page on a different background, so that this energetic girl was stamped directly on the paper, but I definitely did not like the original page’s background. I made another background with ink, a stencil and white gesso, and this one made me much happier.

I went back and cut around the girl and my bottom grass and added them to this page. I think the little white around each figure actually helps it to pop off the page more.

I hand cut the grass along the bottom and added the bunny die cuts as well as the flower die cut. All 3 images were sitting in a box of scrap die cuts that I have. I stamped the quote, and I also added a few fun sticker words. The girl is an Art by Marlene stamp, which was stamped multiple times and colored with markers.

I haven't finished sharing my photos from deCordova Sculpture park, so let me do that today before time gets too far ahead of me.

Inside the museum there was some interesting  textile art starting with the dressed figure.

Shame on me. I'm not sure who made this fantastic dress.

This one is called the Daddy Vest by Baxter Koziol. It could have been a Mommy vest.

And this next one called History was also made by Baxter Koziol.

And here's a few other pieces. I'm not sure of the artist who made each, although I suspect this first photo is another Baxter Koziol.

Since I like to play around with textile art, these exhibits were inspiring.

All my photos from the deCordova have been a sampling of what there is to see. I still have a few photos left, and if people are interested I can share those another day.

I am also linking up my post to Gillena's Art For Fun Friday.

Thanks for visiting. Happy Friday and have a great weekend ahead.

I want one of those daddy vests! As part of your crafting adventures, Erika, I am sure you will wish to make it for me; in fact you are probably shopping for appropriate fabric right now. I'll be sure to give it top billing on my blog, in two languages even if you wish! I would like to have it by early September so don't waste any time getting started. Look at the energy those kids have! Hard to believe we once did too! Enjoy the weekend coming up. Hugs - David

Friday Faces made me think of the song Smiling Faces sung by the Temptations and now I have an earworm! 😺 The textile art is so imaginative. Stay cool all this week!

A lovely fun page Erika! It's hard to remember having that much energy now.
I love the textile art too, the Daddy Vest would be handy when I go walking, although the pockets would need to be bigger :-)

I love your tumbling girls!

That textile art is interesting, especially that top piece. The stories those women can tell!

Love the happy little girl!
That dress is beautiful and interesting. Ingo used to wear vests - I hated that!
And the jumpsuits - clever idea! Sad my Nieces are too big and their clothes went to others (but my SIL cannot sew anyways).
To agreat Friday/weekend and hugs!

Hi Erika! ♥ Firstly thank you for the message from Elizabeth and Bleubeard, no worries!!! ♥ Blogger issues stop me from commenting a lot of the time, and I always worry that people will think I'm ignoring them too!
Your girl art is so sweet, I wish I had her energy! ☺☺
The textural art at the museum is so beautiful!

What a joyful piece of art the first one was with the little girl jumping and floating in the air. And I loved especially the two bottom pieces of textile art: They both make me think of batik. Do you do that?

The Marlene stamp is too cute and having her do gymnastics is a great display of when we were young. I'm glad you enjoyed the museums pieces. We've gotten quite a bit of rain yesterday and today finally, and the slightly lower temps have been wonderful. We are in drought conditions so I will be curious to see how much this pattern helps. What a terrific page you have given us today - it certainly oozes childhood and these little girls are having a whale of a time doing their acrobatics all over your lovely background.
I just wish I had the energy of those youngsters.
Thanks for sharing the museum pictures too.
