T Stands for a Day Out with My Daughter

Hi everyone. Happy T day to all the  people who stop by over at  Bleubeard's and Elizabeths blog. And to everyone else, happy new week.

Back on the 7th of this month, I spent  a really fun day in downtown Portsmouth (New Hampshire) with my daughter. She drove over for the day, and we met a local Park-'N-Ride. I drove us into town, and first we went out for a late breakfast, then we shopped (and window shopped) a bit, and finally we concluded our time out with an afternoon matinee theater performance.

First brunch, which is also my ticket to T day this week. We both had the same thing, which was a popover stuffed with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and pan fried potatoes.  It was yummy. And you can see our waters. Even better, my daughter bought it. ❤

I also ran into a former student who was working there, which was a real pleasure for me, and I think for him too. After a big hug we had a couple minutes to catch up. He was part of a group of kids I was particularly close to my last couple of years of teaching, and I've wondered what happened to them since I retired and they all left and went off into the big world.

And here are some photos while walking around town.

This view of my daughter glancing out of the parking garage window caught my eye, and below, the city's Christmas tree at Market Square. Plus you might notice the bear (grin) in the Santa hat out greeting people who strolled by.

Some festive views, and then this poor guy with the lampshade. 😬

Here's the first of 2 bookshops we visited. This one was new to me, but I would LOVE a space like this in my house. Especially with the leather lounger.

Plus they sold used books, and what's better to browse through than shelves of books waiting for more attention and love? I broke down and had to buy a couple. 😏  This first bookstore even had a store cat who was wandering around while we shopped.

The second bookshop only sold new books,  but I like this arch that was in it.

And here's a few words of wisdom

Finally it's off to the theater.

I knew the play would be good because the Ogunquit Playhouse puts on some amazing productions, but it was even better than I expected. It was 99% sold out, but I took this photo early before many people had sat down. It was a fun day out with the best company, my daughter.

That's all for me. Have a great T day and week ahead.

I would have loved to have had a daughter. The sons had other great qualities, but going out with me for Sunday brunch and entertainment wasn't one of them. Thank goodness for my granddaughters and grandsons :)

Sounds like great times with your beautiful daughter and my, a Christmas-bear!
Beautiful houses and ohhhh. That poor doggy.
Wow on the book stores. And a nice cinema, too. Maybe the play would not be for me. For some reason I had to read this story years ago for big Niece 5 times in a row.
LOL. Hugs and happy T-Day!

Lucky you to have your daughter so close by that you can spend a day with her. I bet it was lovely - it always is when we have one-on-one with them. It looks like you had a wonderful day together, Erika. And those bookstores - my kind of place! I love the book arch, what a neat idea. That lounger would do it for me (maybe not made of leather though), a good book, some chocolate and a cup of coffee. Sounds like the perfect afternoon.
You asked whether the food in my last post is traditional for that area - yes it is. Münster is in Westphalia and these are traditional Westphalian dishes. Germany has a lot of regional cuisines.
Happy T day! Hugs - Carola

Your daughter has your eyes and your smile, Erika. She is a beautiful lady (like you). I like the photos of your place. The Christmas tree is huge. I definitely need a leather lounger for my house!!! The book arch is an incredible idea. Big hugs, my friend. Hope you daughter will visit you again soon.

Looks like a great day out. Those popovers are huge; WOW! Bookshops are wonderful places, and I could spend all day on that lounger! My bookshelves are literally bursting at the seams! Happy T Day, take care, hugs, Valerie

What an excellent day! So happy you got to spend it with your daughter. I've never had filled popovers before--sounds yummy! My mother used to make them a lot when I was a kid, but we just had them with butter. The bookstore was pretty close to heaven, if you ask me :-)

Nice that you got to spend a fun day with your daughter. Breakfast sounded amazing. I might have to try that at home, It was fun to see Portsmouth decorated and I love the bear greeting people. Poor pupper in the cone of shame. Happy, Sunny, T Day. I hope you have your woolies ready for the end of the week. 😺

Your beautiful daughter has a lovely smile.
What a great day out--lunch, bookstores and a play too.
Can't do better than that.
Happy T day!

Sounds like a perfect day out with your daughter. She is a really pretty lass. I have no idea what filled popovers are and couldn't make out anything from the photo. Again, you'll have to bridge the culture gap and explain.
But I do like an interesting book shop. I can spend all day in a book shop so better not take me in one.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

I had no idea what a popover would look like but I never imagined it being so huge. I love seeing your daughter, it is like a younger you sat there.
Love all the doors and things you took photos of, especially the poor dog who was hoping his collar would be removed in time for Christmas I guess.
The book arch was spectacular and the leather loounger in the other store amazing.
A great day out!
Hugs, Neet xx

How fun to have a mother daughter day, she looks so much like you! That popover is HUGE! Love that big tree and that lovely brick building, and the yellow door and that poor dog! Reminds me of Miss P's current situation lol. Ahem I have a space like that in my house, books everywhere, but no leather comfy chair, I have a big wicker one, and my books are arranged by colour just to make my brain work harder haha. That arch though, I would love to attempt one of those, but I don't have an archway hmmm... Glad you enjoyed the musical! Happy T day!
