Hi everyone. I hope you're having a good week so far.
It's getting towards the end of the month, and I want to share my penultimate journal page for my Home Sweet Home challenge at Art Journal Journey. This month I've shared lots of animals as part of my journal pages. There's been bees, cats, cows, pigs, chickens, birds, bunnies, fish and frogs, but there's only been one tiny dog. Miss Maddie and Mr. Pete aren't too happy with me about that. Grin.
My page today celebrates people's best friend, or at least some people's best friend, their dog.
I used my ledger journal and some red, orange and yellow ink to color my page's background. Then I stamped some paws around the page. The dog house, the big bones and the water dish as all die cuts (Cheery Lynn). After I colored the base of the water bowl I used blue watercolor paint to make the water, and since I don't know a dog who doesn't dribble some while drinking, I made a few little drips over the edge to show that. The small bones on the doghouse and water bowl, as well as the background, are some little confetti pieces.
I stamped, colored and fussy cut the dog (Pink In Designs). At first I drew in a few lines to have him, the water dish and the dog house to sit on, but I didn't like them, so I added a bit of white gesso to ground these pieces. Finally I stamped the quote (Impression Obsession) on white paper and fussy cut it before adding it to my page.
And what dog doesn't want to chase a squirrel?
This is Little Red or one of Little Red's offspring. I see lots of grey squirrels, but only a few red ones. I had one a couple years back that knew how to open the feeder and crawl inside, so I named him/her Little Red. I know red squirrels can be scrappy, but I like them because of that. This guy was out digging up bird seed off the ground Monday when we had some snow.
Have a great rest of your Thursday.

Very cute page. "My" dog wasn´t mine for long. As soon as my Brother was born I was out. She clearly preferred male company. Whenever we got into a fight, she was always on his side.... even if I was right!!!! Kidding.
Well, I haven´t seen Peanut in weeks... Nuts untouched... Hope it was no dog.... Hugs and to Spring! No more snow...
This journal page is wonderful! So, so cute and the quote is perfect.
I'm laughing to myself because your post brought back memories of one of our dogs who had a thing about squirrels. In Fairbanks she would get very agitated when she'd see them through the window. Even years after we'd left there, if we said, 'Where's Mr Squirrel?' she'd leap up and rush to a window.
I hope you have a great Thursday.
American Red Squirrel is pugnacious and adorable all at the same time. We have at least one visiting us daily and he or she certainly gets a fair share of the bird seed. Grey squirrels are chased off and even crows feeding on the scraps we put out for them are no match for this little warrior. I like him/her! All the best - David
Why have I never seen a grey squirrel, just the brown one? The page turned out really lovely.
Would it be possible to put nuts, grain or fruit onto a plate on your veranda? That way the desperate little squirrels wouldn't have to bury their hungry faces right into the icy snow.
...our squirrels think that the bird feeders are squirrel feeders.
Poor squirrel, freezing its face in the snow, just to dig out bird seed. You mentioned you used to have a feeder that the squirrel could open and crawl inside. Did that not work? Were you invaded by every squirrel in the country?
You just say the word squirrel in our house and all hell breaks loose. Oh, how they love to chase squirrels and I kinda think the squirrel enjoys the game too!
How sweet your wonderful dog page is and the squirrel in the snow is so cute too!
That was a nice topic you chose. Thanks for hosting.
Hugs Elke

That's an adorable page -- and Little Red or Junior is pretty cute, too!
Nice post. I'm sure you wish the snow was gone.
How wonderful that you've now made a truly worthy dog card, dear Erika – I think Miss Maddie and Mr. Pete will really appreciate it. And Little Red, the cute squirrel, will certainly appreciate that this dog can't run out of the card and chase it 😊.
All the best, Traude
I love the bow and the wow.
We have three species of squirrels here, with different energy levels and personalities. Grey squirrels, red squirrels and fox squirrels (I think). Your photos are cute. However we have no bears at all.

Love your dog page ❤️
Bow to my wow is so sweet. Red Squirrels are our native squirrel species but because of the grey squirrels which were introduced here and the Squirrelpox virus, the red squirrels are dying out. The grey squirrels carry the virus and are immune, the red squirrels are not. Most of our red squirrels are now found in Scotland.
I'm glad you made this cute dog page so that Miss Maddie and Mr. Pete don't bite you, lolol. The I/O sentiment is perfect, too. I'm so over squirrels. I used to think they were cute, but now I just think of huge rats, lol. That one in your photos is a scrappy little thing. Last night the bunny who comes into our yard at night brought his girlfriend. Where do these critters meet is what I wanna know. Is there an animal singles bar near me or something? The frog has found a lady frog (two serenading now!) and now the bunny. I guess this Spring I'll be focused on who is hooking up with who in my yard, heehee. xoxo
