Friday Faces

Hi everyone. Happy Friday. Today I'm joining  Nicole for her Friday Face Off and Gillena for her Friday Lunch Break.

I keep a daily journal  where I write whatever I want to record and where I make quick sketches of things.  I usually draw in pen (I like a black LePen because it dries quickly and doesn't tend to smudge), and then I used some markers to color in the image. Some of my drawings come out better than others, especially if I have some practice drawing with a particular item. The whole point of drawing in pen is that I don't want to take hours to fill in a page and I don't want to write words in pencil nor have to outline a pencil drawing with a pen. If a particular drawing doesn't come out great, I  just move on. In other words, my journal is not a finished piece, but more a place to record things I want to remember and a place to experiment with drawing something.

And surprisingly, I learned that sometimes having a really awful drawing to look back on is a good lesson to see what not to do next time. 😏

Since I need a face or faces for today, here's some of the animal faces I have drawn in the last month that I am very happy with.

above- a sleeping barred owl and below, a pheobe

I've been trying to improve how I draw birds.  I don't need to have them be perfect, but I also don't want them to be strictly cartoons.
You can see in this next drawing that when I mess up with the drawing pen, I use a white pen (Uniball white signo) like an eraser and cover up the mistake with it.

This next guy is Barney, the Seadog Brewery mascot.

And finally the long eared owl I saw a few weeks ago.

I'll finish this post with some views from Easter, well sort of Easter. My husband did a Trader Joe's run before the holiday, and he brought me home a couple of surprises. One was a bouquet of some tulips and some daffodils.

He also brought me this box of Italian chocolate Easter eggs, which were very very tasty. Each color was a different flavor. There were dark chocolate, milk chocolate, coffee flavored chocolate, and hazelnut chocolate eggs. The color arrangement of the eggs was also eye-candy to me also.

Have a super start to your weekend everyone.
