T Stands for This and That about Last Week

 Hi everyone. Happy Monday night/ Tuesday to everyone, especially to the lovely ladies who join in for T. It is already time for T once again over at Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's blog.

Last week was a good week for me. It was a nice mix of having some time to myself and  some social time too.  I also started  a cleaning project which maybe wasn't the smartest thing to do seeing my daughter announced she was coming home for part of the weekend and that meant I had to push the whole project into a corner so she would have a bed to sleep in.  Plus we even had a little bit of snow one day. I'm definitely not ready for winter, but Thursday's precipitation was a reminder it is coming at some point. 

Let me start this post with  2  T related views for this week. Last Wednesday I went out with a friend, and we had a sandwich with a cup of   tea  at a coffee shop in a nearby town. They had this hand-drawn poster on the wall that I thought you coffee lovers might enjoy.

Down the street from the coffee shop is a wine bar, and  at this wine bar there were these fun scarecrows at a table outside. They even had some wine-like substance in the glasses.  The pumpkin lady looks like she is enjoying the sun on her face, but I think the pumpkin man might have been the one to drink most of the bottle-hee-hee.

Of course I forgot to take a photo of my chai tea latte. 😞

And as I mentioned, last week we had our first snow too. Just a little over an inch (2.5 cm),  and it mostly melted the next day.

The day before it snowed we had a lot of wind, and that brought a lot of the leaves down off the trees.  Since there are mostly oak trees in the woods around my house, oak leaves are everywhere.

I read an interesting article about oak leaves recently too.  In order to use them as compost, they must be shredded. Otherwise the leaves stick together and form a thick mat that the plants underneath (i.e., those shooting up in the spring) can't easily  break though. (Yup, been there, know that.)  Other leaves decompose much easier than oaks. Here's the article if anyone is interested: Garden Myths-Oak Leaves.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but when I visited Iceland this past June I bought some yarn for a sweater. I think I showed you part of a sleeve I'd started knitting. Now that the weather has cooled off, I am cranking away on this project.

Icelandic pullover sweaters are knit in the round. I like to make the sleeves first, that way when I get up to the armpits on the body, I can then insert the sleeves and finish up the sweater. I will share more when more gets completed.

The other thing I worked on last week was the cleaning and purging project I mentioned at the beginning of my post.  My mess is an oddball collection of some books I cleaned out  quite  a while ago  as well  as some clothes.  I will donate these.  However, I also had 4 bins of craft supplies that I never emptied. These bins were packed up almost 2 years ago when my husband and I redid the spare bedroom (which is my craft space.)

I had piles all over in my daughter's old room, and then she called and said that since she had last Friday off for the Veterans Day holiday she was going to come home. I ended up pushing everything  into a corner so she'd have some room.  What a mess.

I did a great job purging lots of the old craft supplies. I figured that if they'd sat in a bin for 2 years, and I didn't miss them, then I didn't need them. I thought I would separate them into  big  lots (filling a box), and I would first try listing them online for sale. I may not get them listed until after the holidays, but I sorted and boxed them up. 

Oh  boy!  Hopefully this week I can take care of some if not all of that mess-😏

Watching the Snow Melt

Tuesday again. It can't possibly be Tuesday, can it? Boy, this past week went fast!

So we've had some wonderful weather the last couple of days and the snow has been melting at record rates. I am loving that too. Maybe by the end of the week it will  be just about all gone. 😊

Sunday was so nice the hubby and I pulled out our beach chairs and sat on the deck for an hour soaking up some sun and watching the snow melt. 

I think the only ones who will miss the snow are the dogs.

 Especially Pete.

But Sunday was so beautiful the chickadees were out singing loudly and flitting about,even with us sitting 7 or 8 feet away.

Even the trees were loving the weather. The buds are actually starting to get really big.

And the snow was melting and the melt was dripping like crazy.

I don't think this lawn ornament is going to be casting this snow shadow for very long.

We haven't had a lot of this warm weather the whole month of March so it is really welcome, especially after lots of snow fell all day Saturday.

I know, no one wants to look at snow any more. Me either, but sorry, spring is only just arriving here in New Hampshire.

Today I am sharing my Saturday night dinner. The hubby and I were so fed up with the snow Saturday that we said the heck with staying home. Even though the flakes were still falling we headed out and went to see Beauty and Beast at the movie theater.

I know some of you aren't fans of Disney, and I get it, but I will say I liked the movie. I've always loved the animated version too. And I have seen the theatrical version too, which I also enjoyed. I mean, any story of a girl who loves books is OK with me, even if it is Disneyfied. (OK, so maybe I am making up that word.)

Oh yes, my dinner Saturday night was at the movie theater.

I bought the tickets; the hubby bought the popcorn.

The hubby and I had a big bucket-no butter- and we each had a soda.  I had my naughty drink, a diet coke, and you can see the straw and lid here.

By the way we never finished the bucket during the movie. We brought the rest home and had some on Sunday (while watching the snow melt) and shared it with the dogs who love popcorn too.
Oh yes, and I wanted to mention that I passed all my tests last week and I am good to go as a kidney donor to my husband. That was good news. And the hubby just took his last today, so hopefully later this week we will have a surgery date all scheduled. May sounds like a good month for that to happen. Thanks to all of you who kept your fingers crossed and asked how things went. :)

November!!!!

OK, October gets the award for being the fastest month this year. Even faster than July and August, and they're really fast. And now it is November, and I am really ok with that. (With 1 caveat- no snow this month, please!!!)

Here's an appropriate card for the day, since it is All Souls or Saints Day here  and in Mexico it is Day of the Dead. We don't do anything about it being All Souls Day, but I hear in Mexico Day of the Dead is quite the celebration. Someday I shall get to go to Mexico and see what it is all about, as it sounds wonderfully ethnic and cool.

I made this card on salmon colored cardstock. I stamped the image (it is one great big wonderful stamp by ). I colored using Copics and then distresed the page with some yellow and red ink. I attached it to the card and outlined with black Sharpie. Then using a Martha Stewart graveyard punch I punched out some black paper which I attached and trimmed on the bottom of the card, added some white flower ribbon and stamped the saying (Postmodern Design).

So I figured I'd give you a bit of a peek of our lovely Northeast Weather this past weekend...loaded my photos onto the computer...

It is a historic record snow...I guess that's cool in a off beat kind of way, and hopefully people are getting power back...it is kind of slow going for some people.
