WARNING- this post shows lots of yummy pastries. Calorie counters beware!
Thought I would show you few snapshots I took at my cooking class this past week. I took it at the King Arthur Flour baking education center in Norwich, Vermont.
I like to bake (I say art is my avocation and baking is my hobby-or one of my hobbies) and wanted a few professional style skills and some new techniques. Plus I liked hanging out with 11 other bakers for 20 hours. I liked how the class wasn't too strict or intense but still offered a whole lot of hands on experience.
It was a really fun and excellent course and I am hoping next summer they offer part 2 because I would take that in a blink of an eye.
Do you like sweets?
Are you hungry? If you do, ready to drool?
I impressed myself I must say!
Linzer cookies and below are daquoises
A vanilla cake and some Swiss Meringue buttercream frosting We learned a bit of basic piping too.
Some people chose to do a bit of chocolate decorating on their cakes but I decided to just add a bit of color and keep it vanilla.
This delicious lemon bundt cake.
Savory turnovers and we used the same pastry to make palmiers. But I will tell you we ate them all at my house before I had a chance to snap a photo of them.
And 2 photos of my blueberry-apple pie. I must say I made my best crust ever, so class alone was worth it for that recipe and technique.
Add to that a Linzer tart made from hazelnut flour.
Another daquoise and below some Florentine bars. Those Florentine bars will be made again because once I have one, I can't stop myself.
Or maybe that's a good reason not to make them.

And one last photo-my eclairs. Oh my. These were so good that they all disappeared in my house the night I brought them home. They are my husbands favorite dessert to start with, but that doesn't explain how many I managed to snack on.
OK, I think I gained 10 pounds this week. I think I gained ten pounds just looking at these photos. Not good, but it was good. If that makes sense.
Hope you aren't too hungry right now.
But thanks for stopping by!
