So my daughter and husband are both off from work today, and we are starting the long holiday weekend a bit early. For those of you outside the US, it is our Independence Day on Saturday. Its a big day for parades, cookouts and fireworks here. My husband's family always has a big cookout and we often go to the local fireworks once it finally gets dark.
So there's been a lot going on in my house this week. What a mess it is!
On the couple of cool rainy days we've had, I did some more painting in my daughter's old bedroom. This photo shows the new coffee ice cream color I am painting the walls. The color in this photo is pretty true as it contrasts well with the white left on the wall. I still have one corner left to finish, but it is where all her things are piled until she has space to take them with her. I am still hoping to paint that corner this summer, but at least most of the room is finished.
This is why I needed to paint. I love color on my walls (I have a green living room and a barn red dining room) but this electric blue was a little too much for me. A bedroom should be a restful place, and this blue is left-over from her teenage years.
And my living room ceiling has been under construction much longer than I hoped it would be. I was expecting it would be done in a week, but ha-ha! But I think that's what happens with construction projects. But it is looking nice!
Those old lights are now gone and we've got some new smaller ones to put in. I am hoping maybe the hubby can finish some more of it this weekend since he will be home a bit more than usual. I am so ready to put my house back together and clean it up!
As its July there's a new theme at Art Journal Journey.
Here's a page I managed to make in between all my cleaning and painting projects.
I used one of my ready made backgrounds (Brushos and then images stamped with paint). Then I added this air mail paper tape I had, and I die cut these little envelopes. That's when the idea hit me.
So what is the letter you always wanted to get? A love letter? A big check? An inheritance? An envelope with tickets for something or to go someplace? A note from a long lost friend?
Hmmmm.
I found this mailman in an old magazine I cut out of (guess this page was meant to be made) and I added a few post mark images, some blue paint on the border, the some arrow doodles and finally the die cut stars.
I'll let you know when I get the best letter ever!
That's all for today.
Hope your day is going well and thanks for stopping by my blog.
