Hi everyone.
November has just arrived and it's time for a new challenge at Art Journal Journey. And I am excited because I get to be your hostess this month!
BIG THANKS to Susi and Elizabeth for asking me back to be your hostess again. I feel quite honored. I hope I can be as good a hostess as Linda was last month.
As I wrote for the Art Journal Journey website:
November is a time that I always find a little bittersweet. For those of us in the Northern hemisphere, the beauty of summer and early fall has faded. Winter is coming. I get a little sentimental for the past, but at the same time, I am still excited for the future and for what the rest of the year may bring. It's these feeling of sentimentality and excitement for the future that lead me to my challenge this month: Vintage or Modern. I hope you'll join me on a trip back in time or you'll share the here and now.

I made my page by first spraying the background with brown and purple Distress ink sprays. Then I stamped the old cars (B-Line Designs) and added some striped tissue paper from a napkin. I added 2 pieces of printed acetate to the top right and bottom left corners. Then I added some black paper die cut images- the 2 old cars, the pocket watch and the black chain. The TH found relatives came next, and finally I added some gold dot stickers.
Thanks for stopping by.
I hope you'll join me for this challenge this month. I can't wait to see your vintage or modern pages.

Fantastic page Erika, love the atmosphere you conveyed with the Novemeber greys and browns. Have fun month, hugs, Valerie
Wow, well done on being hostage for AJJ again, a great new theme! Love your page, great colour combo! I can see the emerging of a story through time appearing here, the young child, the boy and the gentleman, all beautifully placed around the clock, - a great idea! I'll try and play along at least once this month...
This is such a beautiful page - the images go so well with this background! You have chosen a fabulous topic for us Erika! I am looking forward to this month and how the artists will interpret this.
I wish you much fun hosting!
Hope Halloweeen wasn't too scary!
Happy day!
Big hugs, Susi
I'm already LOVING this theme, dear Erika. This is a great page to show us what you expect this month. I adore it, and it is SO vintage. Thanks for being our host this month, dear.
hey, nice to see you at AEDM, too! and i like your page for ajj - hopefully i´ll find some time for contributions there also:)
hugs, johanna
Einstein thought the past, present, and future happened simultaneously. You certainly caught that with the 3 figures in the pocket watch. I like the colors you chose, too. Sunrise or sunset. Have a great day!
Art Everyday Month. I'm behind already...
I love this first inspirational page for your new theme, it looks fantastic Erika and I also enjoyed reading your post. November can be winter or autumn and I get sentimental in this season as well remembering loved ones lost at this time of year.

GORGEOUS page, Erika. Perfect for the theme. Kisses, my friend.
Great vintage-y page, Erika. The theme is so versatile too, congrats on hosting AJJ. Love your background. xoxo
Hello Erika, you created such an amazing page with lovely details!! I love your challenge theme" vintage or modern" thank you so much ... Have a beautiful month. Xoxo Heike
I am going to love this theme and will be hoping to play more this month! I adore this page which has so many lovely details to take in! Hugs, Chrisx
You've created a great theme for us, Erika, and I hope I can make more for the theme.
Your own work here is terrific with the vintage children. Gosh, the clothes they wore in those days, like mini adult clothes. I love the vintage cars, why are vintage cars so much more attractive than modern ones? - at least I think they are.
Have a happy November visiting and commenting, I'm sure you will.
I too like the theme :-)
A brilliant theme for this month, and I love this page, great colours.
I'm delighted you joined AEDM Erika. You will meet lots of new friends who you will renew friendships with each November.
Hi Erika, it's nice to meet you too. I love your art journal page. (I'll try to make something for this month's theme.) Do you know about the Sunday Postcard Art challenge? The only rule is the art has to be 4" x 6" (or 6" x 4"). Your artwork would be great there.
As an FYI, I'm in coastal Connecticut, but a lot of leaves have already fallen. Other trees are just starting to change now. New Hampshire IS a beautiful state! I love all of the pine trees there. And of course the beautiful Fall color trees you have.
Your page is great and sets the theme for the month. How nice that you are the hostess. I'm always working on something else and never seem to get to the challenges. I'm catching up on your blog posts though.
A wonderful page and a great new challenge Erika! My mojo seems to be on holiday at the moment, but I hope to join in when it returns.
Alison xx
