Keeping Warm and Dry

Happy weekend everyone. It's a long weekend for me  as it is the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday. It should be fairly quiet though since Sunday we have a huge snowstorm in the forecast (up to 24 inches or 60 cm) and then Monday it is going to be bitterly cold. Some of you might already have this weather as it moves east across the US.  I am hoping for lots of art time and probably some reading next to the woodstove. Sounds like some perfect January  hibernation.
And hopefully not too much shoveling. Smile.
So today's page took me about 4 months to finish, but I finally did. I think I needed to step away from it, and am I glad I did as I like it much better now than when I first worked on it.
And all I needed to do to finish it was add the hearts. But they pull together the page for me.
A cup of hot tea always warms you in the cold.
I am going to link this page to Try It On Tuesday and their Something Old, Something New challenge.  It works because I added something new, the hearts, to a page I had made.
And I am also linking up to Art Journal Journey and Alison's Geometric Shapes challenge. You can see all the squares, and even though hearts aren't classic geometry, they are a definite shape.
Hope you enjoy your weekend and that it will be a little warmer or at least not as snowy as it will be  here in New Hampshire.

Fabulous page for sure, and yes I agree, those hearts really put the whole page together and give it a fabulous dynamic touch.
That snowstorm sounds like something else, just as well it is MLK day on Monday....
Hsppy weekend!

It's a super page, Erika and you're so right - the hearts do pull it all together. That's a great cup and saucer and I love the collagey bits. Lots of interest and a definite warm theme. LOTS of geometric shapes, lol ;-)

Thank you so much for joining us at Try it on Tuesday this week.

I agree with you - those hearts pull together all perfectly! And all the lovely details and patterns and the beautiful cup with those little fairies on top draw the observer's gaze. Mixed Media at it's best!
I think specially because you created this over a longer time it got this depth and beauty!
I hope you can enjoy this long weekend! Oh that much snow everywhere, unbelievable. Here we are not as bad treated as in the south of Germany and in the western part of our little country. But it's enough for my taste already! Thank you for yet another fantastic entry linked to the January theme! You are a wonderful part of the AJJ Journey group!

Sending sunshine and good thoughts in your direction my friend!
Hugs, Susi

I love that tea cup :) They predicting lows in the 20s here with a chance of snow without accumulation. We'll likely get some ice on the roads, lucky us, but nothing pretty. Right now it's raining and has been for what seems like forever ;)

This is lovely. I'm glad you didn't give up on it, but instead put it aside for awhile. Your finishing touches are perfect. And thank you for your comment on my blog. I'm not sure which is worse: 24 inches of snow, or a snow / ice mix. I'm very nervous that I'll lose power, with the ice taking things down. It will be bitterly cold here on Monday, too, although probably not as bad as you will be in NH. Ugh. Is it Spring yet?

I have no idea if my comment went through or not. If not, I was explaining about why I have missed blogging and that I am back for good this year. Love your art work so much and will continue to follow and enjoy it.

I'm sorry to arrive so late, dear Erika. I can't seem to get on track. I can't even get into the craft room, it's so cold.

I am in love with your page, dear. It may have taken four months to make, but it is beautiful. I also see circles and technically, any shape can be determined using calculus. The area under the curves is what it was originally designed for. Therefore, I LOVE your beautiful entry that fits Alison's theme at Art Journal Journey perfectly.

Happy Long weekend! I love your page -- we are having a big snow today and this reminds me of green and pink and blooms and times to come!

A fantastic page, it may have taken a long time in the making but the results look lovely. I saw you included a teacup, it must have been a magical tea party and one I would have loved to see.
I hope you don't get snowed in. Have a good rest of the long weekend.
Yvonne.
p.s. Ooops forgot to say thank you for joining our TioT's challenge.

Fabulous page, Erika! I feared I was the only one who spent that long on pages. I'm in good company. You page was worth the stepping away and returning to see it afresh.

I hope your weekend is a comfy one, safe and warm inside - without power outages and all the other challenges a big winter storm can bring. Eileen xox
