Lines on the Map

Happy Friday everyone. Another week has flown by. This weekend I am hoping to get my veggie garden fence cleaned and painted, a somewhat big job, but one that needs to get done every few years. I'd love to get it finished  because depending on how long winter lingers, sometimes there isn't enough time in the spring to do it without all my garden plants popping up and getting in the way. We shall see whether that happens or not, depending on the weather (not as much sun is now predicted).

I thought I would share another page for Chris' Hold the Line challenge at Art Journal Journey. There's just a little over a week to go this month (wow!), and it would be great if you would like to join in.

This map postcard  was my inspiration for the page. Since  it was blue and white, I went with a sprayed blue background. I also added some stenciled deli paper scraps to give the background some texture as well as to help make the postcard more of a part of the page, rather than just being on the page.
A ticket sticker, some striped paper tape and a stamped and fussy cut emblem finished off the page. the quote is hard to read, but it says "Follow your bliss."

And how about  a view of my Halloween decorations? I don't go overboard, but I have a few fun things I like to put out. I'm not into scary as much as I like the vintage look. And since we are into the home stretch to the end of the month, I thought today would be a good time to share them for those of you who like a little Halloween.

On my fireplace mantel I have just a couple of vintage looking pieces.

And do you like my quilted pumpkin banner? I made this several years ago (and it was in Somerset Studio's Home many years ago also).

I have a hanging light over my table that makes a good place to hang ornaments. These are some silly ones I bought at Target several years ago.

The vintage looking pumpkin with the ribbons hangs off the middle of my light, but it was not part of  the Target  set.

I also picked up this fun little sign at Target years ago also.  The "out" at the bottom can switch to in, which usually happens when my daughter is around.

And finally a couple of years back I bought a Halloween "tree". I made most of the decorations that year from some  coasters.

The 2 Day of the Dead "dolls" I  picked up at Target. also

My latest purchase was this witchy crow which I got on sale after Christmas from Annalee Dolls. They are a local company (Meredith, New Hampshire) . They make all kinds of felt creations. After Christmas they have a 50% off sale, and I picked up this witch. I didn't think she'd work on the top of the tree when I got her, yet she does work well there!
The owl wizard on my mantel (in an earlier photo today) is also from Annalee Dolls.

That's all for me today. Have a great start to your weekend!
And as always, thanks for visiting my blog.

Lovely artwork. And your Halloween decorations are fantastic! I love the Halloween tree, and the coasters you made into Halloween art for it. I love vintage, too. Your house looks perfect for the upcoming holiday. Reminder: Full Moon on Halloween this year. Yay! (I hope it's not overcast. I've been looking forward to this for months, now.)

I got so wrapped up in your Halloween decorations, I almost forgot your latest entry for Art Journal Journey. It's very clever. I like how you layered the postcard over the other papers. It's colorful and really very, very different from anything I would have considered. Thank you for another inspiring entry for Chris;s theme at Art Journal Journey.

I love the way you added the "balls" to the light fixture and the tree. I especially LOVE your mantle, too. I actually remember the tree, but the vintage pieces are great, and so are the balls, which I don't remember before. Thanks for taking us on this cute venture today.

The blue journal page is wonderful with the map lines, so clever! I'm loving all your Halloween decorations, thanks for sharing! I remember you making the beer mat tree decorations, they still look fabulous 😁. The other glass hanging baubles are gorgeous too! Happy Friday and weekend! Hugs, Jo x

Well, first -- great use of the map. But onward to what I'm super-adoring here and that is every Halloween decoration in your arsenal! It is SO festive. I adore the vintage look for Halloween and this is just loads of fun. (Isn't Annalee the best? I LOVE her!) Your pumpkin banner is fabulous. I really love how it look on your shelf. And those ornaments! You remind me I have a few more things to get out -- and time is moving fast! I am so inspired!

Great page for AJJ, Erika.

While you're trying to get the fence cleaned and painted, I'm working on removing limescale inside. It's a never ending story in our house of hard water.

Your decorations are wonderful. You really go all out. I spotted your retirement clock. I have one of those too. Nice.

Hugs, Eileen

You have quite a bit of Halloween indoors, Erika, whereas I only have some paper bats on the walls outside our apt entry and those were cut outs from a former neighbor. We don't "do" 1 day seasonal decos due to limited storage space, so I stick with scarecrows, pumpkins and leaves until the Christmas decos are put out, then it's on to snowmen for the winter!

I know of the AnnaLee dolls and that they were in NH, and maybe this year we will check out their Meredith, NH place for the after holiday sale.

What a fabulous entry this is for Chris' challenge. I love how you have framed this map with those lines and then the blue at the vary back which echoes the map itself. Then the tickets make even more lines. A great postcard find to use! A lovely page!
I adore your Halloween decorations especially the little owl with the spectacles on and his magic spell book, and did you really make that gorgeous banner - that is a real work of art - congratulations on getting it in SS. Lovely baubles - but it is the sign that made me laugh - what a fabulous idea - I would love one and I bet I know which way the base would point most of the time.
Love the tree , especially with the Day of the Dead figures on - but then there are a lot of lovely decorations there. Well done on a wonderful Halloween display. I love seeing things like this.
Hugs, Neet xx
