Time to Travel Again

 Hi everyone.

I'm here today with the latest challenge at Try It on Tuesday. Thanks to all of you who joined us for our Here Comes Summer challenge.

And I do want to to welcome Tammy from My Craft Central to the Team! It's great to have you join us at TIOT!

For the next 2 weeks our theme is Travel and Adventure.  This is a great theme for summer, and maybe you are able to take a holiday or  vacation trip to get a change of scenery during this season.

As we all know covid really put a damper on lots of travel, but people are starting to go places again, at least here in the US. From what I see on the news and by the different licence plates here in my area, lots of people are getting back out and about. For this latest challenge, think about travel and where you may want to visit or will be going. Or you could think about travel in general.  That's what I did for on my journal page.

I started my journal page by collaging some pieces from a travel brochure I recently received in the mail.  They were printed on newsprint paper, so they had no color, but they did make a nice base for my background. I decided to paint half of that background in blue and half in red. The next step was to stencil on the white dots with some gesso.

I have an old set of travel name stamps that I used  mostly on the left of the page.
I then hit my stash and added lots of bits and pieces.  The black plane and the "are we there yet" piece are wooden; the balloon and the taxi are clear acetate. There are a couple of journaling cards as well as some stickers. I drew the suitcase and painted it blue. Luckily I had a lot of red and blue items that worked well with my background colors.

My page title is cut out of the same travel brochure as I used for the background.  The plane part sounds a little incorrect, but it was what was in the brochure so I went with it.

I debated with my page was complete at this point, but then I remembered these Janet Klein stamps which work perfect with the travel theme, so I added them but left them uncolored as they stood out a lot better on the page.

It was fun to make a travel page as I am a great fan of making travel journals but with covid, I haven't had any opportunity make one for quite awhile.

Remember at Try It on Tuesday all kinds of art are accepted, and you have 2 weeks to join this challenge.

If you are looking for some inspiration, please check out what the other designers have created. There is some really great art there.

I'm not traveling other than locally this summer. If the covid numbers stay low, I do have plans for later in the fall however. I hope things stay as they are so my husband and I can go away for awhile then.
Thanks for visiting.

A wonderful travel page Erika with so many travel transport ideas to see and get inspired by for the new theme. One day we may get back to whatever normal is, but wonder if planning will ever be the same for many folk.
Stay safe.

Brilliant page, Erika. Love the mixture of snippets you used - lovely bit of collage and a very appropriate colour scheme for 4th July, which is probably around when you made it, lol.
I think a LOT Of people are desperate to get on the road (and flight) again - including my son and daughter-in-law - and his mother-in-law! They usually go away at least three times a year! We'll soon be back to normal, hopefully.
So sorry I haven't visited for a while...these early bedtimes play havoc with your browsing, lol. I'm trying to reclaim some crafting/browsing time at the moment, so hope to see you more often :-D

Love this Erika it's like a poster for what to come or look forward to as things have been quite gloomy regarding travel for all of us. Those characters really are fab and like Jo said the "are we there yet..?" made me smile too.. you could guarantee one of mine would be calling that what ever the distance.
Fabulous theme again. Thanks for the inspiration.

By all means... Berlin. No. I didn´t like it. Ingo was there many years later and said he hated it.
But who knows, that was years ago, maybe these days it´s better.

Love the figures! Nah. Love the whole page! :-)
Very clever.
But now I have an earworm with "on the road again"...

Wow Erika, if I wasn't already looking forward to travelling in September I would be now - I love this page. The red, white and blue are part of it but I love the words and images and those two JK figures look like super stewards! Hugs, Chrisx
